As if Sea of Stars wasn't already amazing enough, the game has gone and added eight hours' worth of free story content as DLC today, taking the form of a side-adventure known as Throes of the Watchmaker.

You'll need to have rolled credits in the main version of Sea of Stars in order to access this free DLC, after which Throes of the Watchmaker will open up to you - assuming you've already claimed it for free via its page on the Xbox Store.

"Throes of the Watchmaker sends Solstice Warriors Valere and Zale on a side-adventure into the miniature, clockwork world of Horloge, where a cursed carnival threatens its innocent denizens. To survive, they'll need to play by unfamiliar rules and confront not only the mischievous Puppeteer and her minions, but also their own darker traits."

As mentioned, the developer says there are "around 8 hours of new content" in this free Sea of Stars DLC, and it's a self-contained story - meaning nothing from the base game needs to transfer over.
