Re: Sarah Bond Shows Off Where Microsoft Is 'Prototyping For The Next Generation Of Xbox'

Kilamanjaro

@GeeEssEff yeah for real, the fact it's also one of the top innovations of the year for adding a button and reworking Windows for PC handhelds(which they need to do anyway) is nuts . I just picked up a laptop with a 5080 which pays itself off after 5 years of GPU at $30/mo plus the cost of a console or PC handheld. Will just buy games on PC sales to save myself the branding identity crisis

Re: Review: ROG Xbox Ally X - An Amazing Handheld PC With Plenty Of Console-Like Potential

You can grab a TUF or Lenovo 5i pro gaming laptop for a couple hundred bucks more that run games better and even have some upgradeability. This is more inconvenient than sliding a laptop into your bag. Just my opinion given my experience with ROGs in the past. Switch 2 will also run games very well at 45% of the price and comes with a dock and is much smaller. Always felt the ROG was between two worlds, personally not a fan but glad for those that like it as it is an an undeniably cool concept.

Re: Xbox Game Pass Is Getting A Major Overhaul With New Names, Games & Price Changes

Kilamanjaro

I called this a year ago after the first price increase, they want to push Xbox gamers to PC and I've been saving towards that the past year so when my sub is up end of November I'll be there without Gamepass and my Steam and Epic library. Crazy and totally disconnected from the market. Who gives a crap about Day 1 when the games launch buggy? I knew they'd keep doing this.

Re: ROG Xbox Ally Prices Finally Revealed, Pre-Orders Now Live

Kilamanjaro

@yeaman they have some of the highest rated games of all time on Switch and Switch 2 with games optimized to run on them with no additional settings tweaks. I'd say yes it is. Xbox imo should've only focused on 1 handheld instead of two so vastly different, the Ally X is the better experience hands down and pretty sure a lot of Xbox fans will be underwhelmed by the lower tier entry

Re: Opinion: The Value Proposition Of Xbox Series S Is Better Than Ever In 2025

Kilamanjaro

I actually bought a Series S to host all my previous Xbox gens on and to play games while traveling with an HDMI. I returned it since I have a Switch 2 and a bunch of other handhelds (3DS, Evercade) and my Series X is just so very good. Decided to put the Series S money into an upcoming PC build because I think over 5-7 years the cost of the PC will even out because of the discounted games available there across multiple storefronts. I really should've bought the S as a side console when it was $230 new 😭 can't justify it with new consoles and a Series X but I get why you did it and am happy you're loving it!

Re: Halo Infinite Warpath Update Brings Back Classic Halo Reach Maps & Mode On Xbox

Kilamanjaro

@Valhura big Halo fan and I finally stopped sometime last summer. They cut seasons, then they cut cutscenes and then the prices for the items were a slap in the face to the few thousand people left playing because they're so high. I'm sure the number is probably between 3-5k people still playing and most are doing the horde mode which is PvE. Good to grind through their impossibly long Hero Rank to get Master Chief Armor which is not worth hundreds of hours for

Re: 23 New Xbox Play Anywhere Games Highlighted In Latest Monthly Roundup

Kilamanjaro

@WildConcept6 yeah I filtered to games over $40 to see what big companies are there and aside down Microsoft, Square Enix has got to be the biggest supporter. I think Microsoft will eventually include this in contract renewals in the future to make it more prominent or they'll alter their hardware so it's considered a PC in Current contracts so ownership carries over. Interesting to see how they'll work it out, love the concept just think for the hundreds of games I own it's not a fully cleaned out feature by comparison

Re: 23 New Xbox Play Anywhere Games Highlighted In Latest Monthly Roundup

Kilamanjaro

@WildConcept6 I've used Play Anywhere on a ROG Ally and have been really disappointed with the selection. The GTA reference is a bit odd because there's really not another game like it that drops a billion dollars in sales in 2-3 days. I like the concept but in reality there are hardly any worthwhile games or communities on Xbox Play Anywhere compared to the vast amount that aren't. Those are all fair points & I want it to work but we can see it's under utilized. I did take a look at the latest link above and can see there are a TON more games there than in 2023 so will have to go check it out next chance I get. Fair points, fair points

Re: The Beefier ROG Xbox Ally X Is Set To Get More Powerful Over Time

Kilamanjaro

Keep the news coming! Think buying a Series S recently to compliment my Series X is the right move to scratch my portability of higher end games I wanna play. I have a carry on bag and access to a TV when traveling so think it makes the most sense for my situation as the Switch 2 can take care of anything portable in between.

Re: ROG Xbox Ally Handheld Gets Official October 2025 Release Date

Kilamanjaro

So while I've been afainstbyetting any new Xbox hardware, I have also had an ASUS Z1 Xtreme which I didn't like and I've wanted to get new memory for the Series X so I can store more hames on it. So what did I do? Bought a 1 TB Carbon Black Series S that's actually smaller than the ROG (which requires lots of charging when playing the type of games I like it else the battery tocks down like a clock). I'll be using this to store my games, take traveling and still be able to save for a PC build next year. It's really more of just a machine to play 1-2 games I like anyway & PC handhelds haven't really scratched my itch they way I need it yet. Happy theyre launching now so they can improve and lower the price in the future.
