Re: Ex-PlayStation Boss Compares Xbox's New Strategy To SEGA, Says It's A 'Balancing Act'

@BigRedPaper woah calm down dude. I own Xbox shirts and shoes and buy their anniversary stuff. They have rebranded from Xbox Game Studios to Microsoft Game Studios. Hope venting makes you feel better and saying people should die for their POv is worrisome. I comment on this site frequently. I'm all for more consoles, Nintendo and Sony dominate but I also own retro consoles and the Evercade. Settle down.

Re: Xbox Indie Showcase 2025 Announced For This Month, Game Pass Surprises Expected

@Rog-X Microsoft literally provided absolutely no marketing for Hi Fi Rush. Nintendo or Sony aren't known for acquiring everything under the sub. The studio got acquired within 3 months of closure announcement. Xbox barely know how to work with the Japanese market or their studios if 20+ years of trying has shown anything . Sony & Nintendo have great Quality Assurance & provide adequate marketing for their releases. Nintendo straight owns the concept of shadow dropping hits during their Nintendo Directs & it's after carefully curating those for their audiences. Xbox does a "here's what we got" series of random devs and personalities playing demos for games. I'll admit the Xbox format got much better the past year compared to the messes they were before. Pure Xbox should do a poll showing the rankings of Xbox showcases since they launched. I bet they've improved over time. December was a great month for Xbox so cynicism aside, I hope this Indie Direct focuses on great games AND that Xbox supports the ones that make a splash. I am a big Xbox fan so hope for the best but have been disappointed the last year. Sorry for the rant. Your points are valid.

@Secryt I think it'll be nice for the players that stay in the console game, we are more niche now compared to PC and Mobile gaming. I'll likely build out a PC in a couple of years but I'll always be bespoke gaming hardware as long as they offer it. I tried to hold a GBA at a GameStop recently and they wouldn't let it out of their hands because people steal them point blank 😂 some people are literally desperate for consoles, new or old. Fair points you made I just think Microsoft should pivot to PC and Mobile and publish/ develop for the console space. They don't need to compete anymore on consoles imo

Dragon Age isn't a system seller. It's a niche game for hardcore gamers. I would love to see the pitch deck and market research they did see how they got to 3 million players as an estimate. I played the last install and it was such a beautiful game for Xbox One. Shame this one didn't do better.

@Secryt Stadia had great infrastructure and failed even though it was backed by Google which has billions of dollars to sustain losses. All it takes is bad marketing & a few bad decisions for Microsoft to drop it. Sony could partner with AWS or other competitors or even use Azure, Microsoft would happily take the revenue. I should mention I was an early Stadia adopter and I really loved it. I still think it had the best playable version of Cyberpunk at launch compared to both PC and console. Xbox is nowhere near as good as Stadia's connection was based on my own play experience.

Re: Former PlayStation Exec Says 'The Game Is Changing' As Xbox Goes Multiplatform

It's car sharing vs ownership. I do want to own my games not rent them. Microsoft does fewer physical releases and with the Japanese competitors they still create more physical products. I get the nobody is a victim argument but Microsoft wants to change the landscape so they can be more profitable and own content, then lease it to us & make purchasing content less favorable. Look at MS Office. You used to be able to buy a key and own it indefinitely for $120. Now MS Office 365 is $99/year! Releasing more games is great but let's not be naive and think Microsoft isn't focused purely on monetization and growth. I like that they release more games elsewhere but then I don't really need an Xbox right? That's the fear from fans, we are indeed used to being in an ecosystem and if other ecosystems offer more I'll go there. PC is likely next for me & I'll buy Sony and Nintendo consoles.

Re: Microsoft CEO Chimes In As Indiana Jones Surpasses Four Million Players On Xbox & PC

@GuyinPA75 agree, game pass isn't sustainable and most people on PC are gonna bootleg games anyway. It'll just be like Xbox Live Gold again at some point. Online play should be free & some type of membership still makes sense to get discounts or early access to games.

I would've bought a lot more games without game pass. So that's hundreds of dollars they're missing out on.

Re: Xbox's Multiplatform Releases Made Microsoft The Top Game Publisher In The World Last Month

Kilamanjaro

I still think the merger should've been blocked. MS is one of the most vicious companies out there. They don't really care about games but they absolutely care about profits & monetizing the biggest part of the entertainment industry. Maybe they'll get tiktok and add it to Xbox 😂

But hey! More money as a publisher means more games for us hopefully. Surely they won't just pour that money into proven franchises right?

Re: Xbox On Keeping Games Off Other Platforms: 'That's Not A Path For Us'

@MonsterMike Switch is a console. Nintendo did a great thing combining all their devs behind one form factor although I'm sure many miss the easier development of their weaker handhelds. My worry with Xbox is they make a handheld and they absolutely drop the ball and split their resources or they try to shove a PC experience into handheld rather than make games with portability in mind. Nintendo make awesome experiences that really feel at home on the Lite or handheld mode of the main console. They've been making handhelds far longer & so has Sony. If Xbox just does a Steam deck copy but with your Xbox library I might be into it but for under $400. But yeah, Switch is a console for sure.

@JorutoHayabusa I haven't played a GPU game in a month & it was only to try it out. Demos would honestly be enough. Like Nintendo offers 2 hours to play games before release sometimes & that's typicallly enough gameplay for me before I decide if I wanna buy. GPU has lost a lot of value for me personally as I mostly play Hunt Showdown which I bought before the GP release. I'll just do Core and buy games. My backlog would take me years to beat anyway
