End of the day it's bad sales numbers for a Halo title so it makes sense. Idk who wanted or asked for another remake but clear where their resources should be spent now: world class multiplayer and a strong story for an 10-16 hour campaign with online coop and single player. I'm all for more brutal combat, hope they give it to id so Chief can rip and tear. Hope they move away from Brutes as the baddies and give us better aliens than bullet sponges and corny grunts, been there done that for 25 years. I always have a special high hope in my heart for another excellent Halo experience. They can't buy their way into a good Halo game & need excellent devs, writers and musicians so their recent layoffs may very well make the next game a flop π
Possibly my final great purchase on Xbox this gen. Let's face it, the real reason to own a next gen console for a lot of casual gamers has always been the next GTA game. GTA V had such a good story & acting in it. Leggoooo!!
*No need to take that too seriously if you don't like the franchise, let me be hyped πβοΈand yes the Netflix thing is lame
I have 6 games wish listed, just bought Ghost wire Tokyo for $15 so now 5 left. I don't think there are 1000 games I want to own on Xbox although I do have a fair amount owned (vast majority paid but also including years of Games with Gold, F2P and free titles)
Pretty bold using the new Fable rather than the latest one from August 2010 ages and feels old in real time π€ͺ
I'm really hoping it's a hit. Fable 1 felt like Xbox's response to Zelda with a fun fantasy game. Hope they keep it coming this year with more free goodies given all the price hikes
They should have kept the program instead of whatever the hell they just experimented on with us π₯² I moved to Core anyway with all the price hikes which I'm sure they did not want
Sad to say but a lot of these F2P shooters need to just stop unless they're backed by billion dollar orgs because they just get absolutely trampled even if they have some fun mechanics by better established communities
@shoeses I agree with this sentiment, Halo and Gears doing re-releases along with Forza have shown how little has changed for their ecosystem as a whole, especially letting go of some studios that made new exciting IPs. I was die hard for these 18-20 years ago π± shocked to say it, but my love for the franchises have definitely changed. Unsure of the right path forward with these as they've indeed had total team and identity changes over what is now decades+
@NishimaruX I had started to buy a bunch of digital, then they closed a few of the Nintendo eShops and around 2019 started buying more and more physical. Physical largely outpaces my digital spend at this point so I can have access when shops eventually close, the physical media they're on lasts longer than 15 years which is the longest they keep a lot of these open anyway. I bought a lot of Japanese games on Xbox as well to specific support those developers producing discs, although funny enough even until recently many were released during the Series X lifecycle but released in Xbox One boxes. In any case, I support options as I also own hundreds of digital games at this point while newer titles or special releases I get physical (I'm looking at Truxton Extreme, the upcoming Zelda OOT remake, Castlevania, Fire Emblem and Super Bomberman Collection just to name a few!)
The Covenant don't know what's coming. Very happy they're restarting or rebooting for newer generations.
I would say it's a bit unfair that it's barely available and there is already a spoiler post on a sequel before the rest of us had a chance to finish the Maw ourselves? C'mon π
The magic of Halo Legendary endings is the post credit content. Halo 3 being one of the best post credit scenes out there.
Own nearly everything I want on Xbox so have been dipping into Switch 2 sales. Still waiting on the Skyrim upgrade pack to go on sale so I can get the Switch 2 upgrade. I currently have Black Myth Wukong as the only game I'm waiting for a drop in price on Xbox. On the fence for RE Requiem on Series X or Switch 2 for portability, ehhh
@Eastergregg I also dislike the digital online checks of Xbox. Just wanna drop my content in and play offline without getting pop ups and checks to sign up for digital content.
This is a spoiler in and of itself, like saying the end of Halo 2 shows that there is a "spoiler" . Great game though, guess we should wait for the MCC Remake in 2031 with all the remakes combined??
Thanks for sharing this list. Separate note, bruh, cloud gaming got me to drop $100 on a Razer Kishi and $20 on a controller attachment and for the games I play (online multiplayer games) it was a bad investment since they load slowly. Have heard cloud has improved but still haven't tried it in 2 years and counting. How's it now?
I think Skull and Bones was a good concept but terribly executed. Just needed to label it Assassin's Creed Pirate Wars (something more clever of course by marketing people) with these graphics and it would've sold more. I love pirate themed stuff but Sea of Thieves is old and not innovative at all and this game is a great one, not a whole lot in that genre. Summer time is a PERFECT time to release nautical games!
I guess one of the most important aspects of the first Halo game was the emphasis on sacrificing some graphical power to have enhanced AI. The review didn't really cover this, is anyone here on Pure Xbox able to confirm if it's using similar enemy AI to the original release or if its just the more basic version found in later Halo games?
Most owners on Xbox are Series S so impossible for more than half to own physical. The chart is real data, can't argue with it. I think around 2019 I started switching back to a physical library wherever possible with the closure of the Nintendo eShop and others on a few different older consoles, made me want to own more.
Rockstar's CEO was right about Game Pass years ago. I was happy to milk GPU while it was still a good value and it absolutely turned most games into demos for me except for maybe a total of 3 I bought. Definitely was happy for a while but agree it does diminish the value of the creative content being developed and dehumanizes it a bit, likely not as good a source of revenue as direct sales for the majority of studios but a good one for Microsoft.
@Fiendish-Beaver yeah I took a long pause on it until they're done with it, haven't played it since before they added land vehicles. Should give us both enough time to play it by the time they fully complete ES6 which I'm guessing is done with content in 2031
@Fiendish-Beaver there are quite a lot of bespoke settlements and handcrafted stories within the game. I do enjoy the desolation on some of the planets as the majority out there (in our galaxy) are indeed barren. The physics are great and the planets and day night cycles are on point for their mass relative to the stars they orbit. I do amateur astronomy outside so maybe a reason I like that aspect a bit more than usual. Still plenty to offer on the planets with cities and settlements. I agree maybe they did too much planet generation instead of giving it some TLC, they had to take some shortcuts to hit the sheer size of options though which has affected the quality of randomly generated content for sure
I quite liked a lot of Starfield for what it's worth. Absolutely critical of it of course. Really needed bosses and enemies you could use your powers against, repeating bases was lame, and space travel needed a big update. Story was also kind of weak but the side quests were fun. Definitely over hyped but happy we have the universe to build on. I still found the game beautiful, the orchestral score was great, graphics were good given the size of the universe and I really liked shipbuilding. A good foundation for the future hopefully
This game will be picked up in the bargain bin, digital sale or never. Already beat it countless times and the past upgrades were sufficient. No online multiplayer is an oversight and would've been an easy win! System link anyone?!
@fatpunkslim checkout Arcade Archives, they have an absolute ton of the best shmups of all time. I own a nice handful of them so check it out and see what suits your tastes, they're cheap too
@Deadsea93 yeah I stopped caring about Game score a long time ago when I was younger and had like 8 games. Now with 100+ there's really zero desire for me to 100% a game. Only have done it once recently , first time in 6+ years. Wish we could get rid of ads and all the different groups and sections on the dashboards. I literally only want to see my games and maybe toggle over to the Microsoft Store.
If it's anything like 343 they'll shutter content and keep saying stuff is coming then cut trailers, season passes, etc and wind it all down in time for ES6
@Millionski I would hope they don't allow ads for anything we have to pay for or on the console at all outside of news and in the store. Fan of how Nintendo handles it on Switch 1 and 2, I didn't like getting McDonald's ads on GPU and Walmart on Core. Just want to see my games and some upcoming/ recent releases.
I like your take on cutting down the passes and simplifying. Definitely Premium and Core and cut the rest.
I'll never go back above the absolute Core offering anymore. I was big on ultimate and then the games slowed and quality was not what I expected. No interest in essentially playing demos of games I'm never gonna finish. I own the games I want to play and the only reason I found this out was because of the subscription price increase now I'm hooked on Core. I would prefer free online play so I pay nothing of course. The small library of games adds no value for me like Games with Gold did. Hope they figure it out soon!
@Mr-Cage yeah people will still quit depending how good they are at the game, some random also just run off and die so it's much better with someone you can chat with. Suggest LFG and then trying out some people there rather than just searching for randos in the in-game lobby
@Mr-Cage I've found Night reign fun but tough, way faster paced than expected but a good time with friends. I'm a beast in Elden Ring but in this mode, my friends are def carrying me π
@MinervaX76 it's just my opinion but Id would've been the right team to take over Halo. A brutal master chief would not be unwelcome and I think properly fit the spirit of the first two games.
Literally a business move made by cutting numbers in half without understanding how badly this undermines their focus on their core products they just said they're going to focus on. Such beautiful work from Id too!
They should give us small SSD cartridges with the full game on them so we can get over the speed issue with loading from a disc. Anything physical I can plug or drop in is acceptable, disc is good for my old library of course but open to newer options too!
@CoolDadTx agree agree agree. They needed an entertainment exec in here more than a business person not familiar with the industry at all. The creativity is going to go out the window. They're focusing on past data to predict future success which we all know in gaming can be generated from a silly game mode like battle royale (Fortnite was in beta for a zombie game) or for a random hero shooter like Apex Legends or a fun game like Vampire Survivors. They need to focus on what excites the gaming community while of course supporting core franchises without milking them to death.
