The portal-powered arena shooter Splitgate was a surprise hit when it originally released, but its life was ultimately cut short when the development team decided to focus on a sequel.
Now, after ongoing tests, the open beta for Splitgate 2 is available for multiple platforms including Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One. It once again throws players into maps where you must teleport about to outsmart your opponents.
There are more than 25 weapons at your disposal including weapon customisation as you engage in over 10 modes across more than 15 maps (and custom maps). The Multi-Team-Mayhem modes also support up to 24 players where you compete in "all-out warfare" across a new map. Here's a bit more from Xbox's website:
"Win From Any Angle: Dominate the competition with the ultimate tool: a portal gun. Flank your foes and turn the tide of combat by portaling across the map, or defy gravity to launch yourself for jaw-dropping aerial kills. Team Up and Earn Glory: Recruit your friends and compete for the respect of the entire galaxy. Take control of the Hotzone while your friends hold off enemies portaling in from all sides. Stand together and steamroll your opponents to win the match and claim victory."

We went hands on with an earlier build of the game last year and were able to test out the new gameplay design:
