Talking Point: How Much Do You Think The ROG Xbox Ally Will Cost?

Since an Xbox 'partner' handheld was first rumoured many months ago, there's been lots of discussion about potential price points for it, and how Microsoft will compete in the portable PC market. Despite the team finally announcing the device(s) during the Xbox Games Showcase, we still didn't get any pricing details - which has led to this little talking point about what we all think the two skus will cost.

Looking at the power that's tucked into these ROG Xbox Ally devices, we can't see them being cheap - especially in the current economic market. In fact, we reckon that part of the reason that pricing hasn't been announced yet is because of how unstable market conditions are right now - it stands to reason that Microsoft and ASUS will want to wait until closer to launch to see what the situation is in that regard.

Here at Pure Xbox towers, we've been speculating a little bit on what we think the ROG Xbox Ally and the ROG Xbox Ally X will ultimately cost. Between us, we floated around a few different prices, but if we had to guess right now - we'd say something like $599 for the base system and $799 for the upgraded model, but that's pure speculation until the official numbers are revealed. Here in the UK, we'd expect those numbers to be fairly similar, translated into GBP of course.

We suppose the question remains, then, would you be willing to pay these sorts of prices if they were accurate? As we've just said, these numbers are by no means confirmed and we're going on gut feeling combined with what other competitors cost, but hypothetically - do you think either of these handheld Xbox devices would be worth that cost? It's safe to say that some of us in the office are pretty hyped about these things!

Tell us if you'd pay these prices in the poll below, and if you have any other best guesses, tell us what you think they'll cost in the comments!
