If you cast your mind all the way back to 2020, you may recall that a game called Call of the Sea was shown off as one of the first Xbox Series X titles, and it eventually ended up releasing on Xbox Game Pass with a 75 rating on Metacritic.
History is repeating itself six years later, as the game's sequel โ Call of the Elder Gods โ is also releasing day one on Xbox Game Pass, with the release date set as May 12th, 2026.
Here's a look at the announcement:
Call of the Elder Gods takes the form of a "Lovecraftian narrative puzzle adventure" in which you'll play as Professor Harry Everhart and student Evangeline Drayton as they "search for the truth about their missing loved ones and come face-to-face with beings beyond their understanding".
If it's anything like the first one, this should be an enjoyable adventure on Xbox Game Pass next month, and it's great to see the likes of Yuri Lowenthal (Final Fantasy VII Rebirth) and Cissy Jones (Starfield, Baldurโs Gate 3) as part of the returning cast.
We'll leave you with more details about Call of the Elder Gods ahead of its May 12th Xbox release below:
"All is not well at Miskatonic University. Professor Harry Everhart tries to ignore the shadows flitting at the corners of his vision, while student Evangeline Drayton is haunted with impossible dreams of an artifact uncovered a decade ago. In their search for answers, the pair will uncover revelations more ancient than anyone could have imagined.
Call of the Seaโs object and observation-based puzzles return with new depth. Scour richly-rendered environments for clues. Swap between Harry and Evangeline to solve complex, multi-part problems across time and space. Choose your own difficulty level with toggle-able hints, icons, and journal entries."
