@somnambulance "Second party" is not technically a thing. It's a 1st party game, developed by an outside 3rd party studio. Nintendo does this all the time, for example. Ultimately, HD is 1st party since Sony owns and controls the IP.
If Nintendo contracted Sega to make another F-Zero for them, that new title would still be technically 1st party since Nintendo owns the IP.

@HardRockGamer Pffft, GamePass is part of the reason this was cancelled and all these layoffs are happening in the first place! The service isn't sustainable. That's painfully obvious at this point. I'd have happily paid full price for PD, like any other normal game outside of Xbox.

@Dreamcaster-X This pretty much proves that GamePass, combined with poor console sales, is losing Microsoft a ton of money. In theory it's "good" for gamers, but I've always questioned the financial feasibility of GP.

@TruestoryYep Couldn't have summed up Sony better. Sony has completely lost their way with PS5. Worst generation of PS ever by far. Their once great now dormant IPs, while their embarrassing live service stuff all gets cancelled, is the death blow for me. 💔😢
PS just sells cause it's PS. Switch can't handle many 3rd party modern, big-budget titles, and Xbox does miss out on some major Japanese stuff, plus apparently has "nothing worth playing", so PS5 is the default safe choice for many.

MS already has a powerful handheld they can already bring their games to and succeed with; it's called Nintendo Switch 2. 😉

@Balaam_ LRG is a joke. Now they're distributing Switch 2 key cards. They're could've said no and remained principled, but nope, they chose money over conviction. Not to mention Scott pilgrim requires an online connection, D was printed on low quality CD-Rs for the 3DO, causing many to not work at all, old chips were used for Shantae and other recent carts produced by them, to name a few. Garbage company.

If all the data is on the 💿 disc, one can always reinstall it, so long as one's console is working. No server/internet needed.

@Kaloudz You're welcome. And yeah, PS5/XSX games are a bit more expensive than the previous gen. I fully understand why many are upset at some S2 games hitting $80 USD, that's $100 CAD 😵. I still am hyped for S2, and for me I don't mind the hardware cost itself, but ffs that software pricing is expensive.

@WildConcept6 While I would've preferred $400 USD, $450 is not unreasonable. $300 USD in 2017, was a loooooooooooong time ago. Plus don't forget the chump tarrifs.

The software side however is looking more egregious though. I'll just have to be more selective with my S2 itles. 🤔

@Kaloudz 1st party Nintendo stuff does go on sale from time to time. While the default price generally remains high, you're best to wait for when they do have sales.

Ah yeah the stadium level was definitely awesome. 😁 DNF wasn't great, but it was enough of a novelty and guilty pleasure that I still found enjoyment from it. I'm probably too easy to please, lol.

@Kaloudz Last year, actually. My first game was Duke Nukem 64 from way back when. I adore the Duke series, even Forever I liked which most hated, but it was enjoyable to me. 🤷‍♂️

The AC Shadows thing I'm barely familiar with, at least the Torii gate element. There's some historical evidence for Yasuke maybe being real, maybe fictional, we don't know, but the main point with AC that the vocal online minority forgets is that it's supposed to be historical FICTION.

How relevant is Duke to a lot of audiences these days, if we're being honest? I doubt a lot of younger Gamers even have any idea who the character is. While I don't personally think the blowback would be that big of a deal, especially depending on the form the game takes, but until the publisher grows a pair and announces a new entry, it's open to speculation.
I remember there being a new Leisure Suit Larry game released as recently as 2020, and nobody gave a crap about that, and that series was known for being objectifying and raunchy.

I don't have terminal online social media brain rot, so I don't care about these hollow online controversies. Every side is doing it. It's ridiculous and beyond nauseating. I really couldn't care less. If something looks interesting, I'll check it out.

Then we have games like Stellar blade which got most of its attention due to Eve's ass and her various outfits.

GTA6 is likely to be raunchy as hell, and that's likely be GOTY and sell 100M+ in no time.

Maybe I'm just the oddball in that I can separate reality from fantasy; don't act like or treat real people in real life like how some of these games depict their worlds. *Shocking * 🤯🤷‍♂️
To me I think the perception that another Duke or raunchy Saints Row would fail doesn't quite match reality. 🧐

*And for the record I enjoyed the Saints Row reboot from a gameplay perspective, at least as a co-op game w/ my friend, as we'd done with 3 and 4.

We're already seeing Sony branching out to PC over the past several years. Plus we've now got LEGO Horizon on Switch. I think it's definitely plausible we'll see Sony release some of their top franchises on Xbox in the future, espcially after all the money they've been losing on those cancelled/failed liveservice games.

Add another $20 for the chump tarrifs factor. 😡
