
Out of nowhere, Xbox has suddenly announced Gears of War: Reloaded today - a remastered version of the original Gears of War that will be launching for various platforms very soon, including Xbox Series X and Series S.
The game will feature 4K resolution, 120 FPS support, and "the ultimate multiplayer experience with cross-progression and cross-play, across all platforms", along with a price of just $39.99 or free for Gears of War: Ultimate Edition owners.
Gears of War: Reloaded will release on Xbox and beyond on August 26th, 2025. Here's more of what to expect:

- Enhanced post-processing visual effects
- Improved shadows and reflections
- Super resolution with improved anti-aliasing
- Zero loading screens during Campaign
This version of Gears of War is being developed by The Coalition in partnership with Sumo Interactive and Disbelief, and it's said that "every detail has been tuned to bring the original game into the present with clarity, smoothness, and immersion that matches the power of today’s hardware."
As you might expect, Gears of War: Reloaded is also going to mark the debut of Gears on PS5, with the game having been confirmed for Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PC, PS5 and Xbox Cloud Gaming so far. It's also going to be part of both the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass libraries when it launches this August.
