Talking Point: What Should Xbox Do To Celebrate The 25th Anniversary Next Year?

How are we just four months from the end of 2025?! This year feels like it's barely started, and yet we're already looking ahead to what next year will bring us - and that's because we'll be celebrating the 25th anniversary of Xbox!

Yes, November 2026 will mark 25 years since the original Xbox console was first released, and it sounds like Microsoft has big plans to celebrate that fact - potentially with new Halo, Gears and Forza games all on the way next year (along with Fable and whatever else!).

Xbox boss Phil Spencer basically confirmed this back at the Xbox Games Showcase:

Now, if we think back to what happened in 2021 with the 20th anniversary of Xbox, we saw some really cool things back then. There was an incredible virtual museum that was set up, a ridiculously good documentary series that covered the history of the brand, and there was even a special 20th anniversary showcase at the time.

Will we get something similar for the 25th anniversary? Probably, although we don't expect anything to be repeated in the same way as five years ago. It does sound like they're going to go all-in with the celebrations though, so here's hoping Team Xbox has a few things up their sleeve to make 2026 an ultra-special year for the brand.

We're just speculating here, but what if they finish it off with a new console reveal on the day itself? It feels like November 15th of 2026 would be a perfect time to reveal some new hardware and set up the next console generation.
