Hellblade 2 Is Getting A Physical Release On Xbox, But Not By Microsoft

Following the reveal of Hellblade 2's enhanced edition arriving alongside a PS5 port, the ESRB has this week posted about a physical release of the Ninja Theory title - but Microsoft isn't listed as the game's publisher this time around.

That's right, Limited Run Games will be the publisher for Hellblade 2 on disc - for both Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. You may remember that back in 2024, Microsoft opted against any sort of physical release for Hellblade 2, which was part of the reason it priced the game lower on the Xbox digital storefront.

This new ESRB rating doesn't mention anything about a specific release date for the physical version of Hellblade 2, but it shouldn't be too far off at this point. Ninja Theory recently revealed that the enhanced edition is coming this summer, and these ratings are usually spotted a few weeks/months out from launch - which all syncs up rather nicely.

We'll have to wait and see just how limited this physical release of Hellblade 2 turns out to be, but it's nice to at least see Xbox Series X|S included here. We've seen these sorts of publishers skip Xbox in recent times, but not so here - which means Xbox fans who were disappointed in Microsoft's decision to skip a physical release for this game can rectify that this year.
