I was really looking forward to Redfall, the premise sounded great. I figured I'd give them some time to iron out the rough release, just started it today.......... .... Oh my goodness is it bad, really bad ...I read all about this not being a passion product but this game is still a mess in SO MANY WAYS. I have to wonder if there is any talent left, any at all.

@InheritNegative I bought it new for 8, after all the patches and absolutely loved it. To bad it didn't land better

I'm about 12 hrs in, I think the initial wonder has worn off, the AI is bad, I went to explore the New Atlantis country side,my god the textures are so bad.Its jarring textures from my ship to the planet. The menus are beyond terrible, good grief they are bad. I'm really disappointed so far.
Bouncing on the moon was a blast!
7/10 right now.

So far it's been everything I could have hoped for, sucks that PS owners are missing out.
This game is why I bought my Series X 2 years ago and I've loved it, a huge fan of the ecosystem and its only getting better

The bonkers thing is that it's stayed around 70 for the physical copies.

I was pretty excited about the " Salems Lot, Far Cry" but everything I've read is that this game is still just not good.

Work has been a stressful nightmare, so I took a few minutes to read the Destructoid review. Oh my dear God..... It reads like it was written by a 16 year fanboy/girl. It's actually really bad.
Something tells me this is more of that 8.5-9 type of game which is exactly what I hoped for!

Destructoid giving this a 10 is a very good sign IF it had been Chris........ignore GS as usual.
IGN only giving a 7 is a tad concerning though, especially Dan who is pretty lenient......

@Kaloudz My memory had not held up very well, but I seem to recall Zenimax being a tad petty with outlets over the years and seemingly holding grudges.

You don't find it a little bit weird they would exclude an Xbox fan site?

I'm a diehard classical music/opera/jazz fan and so I was a tiny bit apprehensive, but it's actually well done. Not quite Dragonborn levels of wow, but not bad.

Sweet! I realize it's just good business 1st, but Todd Howard's thank yous actually come across as genuine. With how long he's been at this(which is rare, to stick with one company in this field) it does seem like true passion in his end

I think this is Ultimately the biggest driving factor, both sub models have peaked, and this is the only short term revenue model that will increase profits

My gosh, I still haven't played Hogwarts or RE 4, and Bethesda always takes 300-500 hours of my life. Still haven't purchased TOTK, Spiderman2 might really nail it too , 2077 expansion. This gaming hobby is killing it right now.

@Stoned_Patrol I truly don't get why MS and PS haven't done more special editions by now. The Series are such minimalist designs it should be easy to mass produce cool designs, and PS has a LOT of surface area. Kind of sucks

@Lup I actually had these in my Steam cart ready to go and forgot to buy them 🤦so was going to just grab them on Xbox, but the recent reviews are full of save corruptions, crashing and other issues.🤷

I can't recall a game I played that didn't have a mute option. I'll really never understand the hoopla with this.

I don't know why, but I can't see this as a modern game. It weirdly looks like a 360/PS3 game revved up to 1000.

I really hope it's good, but I swear that lady does intros for all the AAA letdowns-i seriously think she's video game doom

I may have faked being too sick for school so that I could spend all day playing FF7 on PS1 once or twice.....

Kind of off topic, but since this thread is loaded with GP users, how is RedFall doing? I recall seeing that big patch, but nothing since- Is it still in that needs several more patches phase?

This is actually pretty cool, compared to PS new custom, which looks like a dozen 4yr Olds were given stickers and crayons and told to slap stuff anywhere

I know others have touched on it, but F.I.S.T. is really good. Especially if you have gamepass I think this is a must play. If you don't it's worth picking up full price

This will happen though, it's that slow burn that Phil is actually REALLY good at. Gamers are stubborn creatures if you force something. However if you drip fed the idea, - early access Starfield when you are paying already for"day one through Gamepass" for a fee", the outrage has actually been pretty muted for what is a gross idea. Next they can take Fable and say only on gamepass but pay "X/Y" to play early", the outcry now and more muted.

I simply don't get why people cheer this digital only idea. Look at Nintendo, they are a window into this singular economy system. You pay what we want and you'll like it, we might throw a discount maybe.... You can't turn around and say I'll just grab it on X, or PS because it's cheaper or get it on pc down the road(kind of dense comparison for 1st party,but close enough)

I think it's a bigger deal on console because they are closed eco systems. There is no valve, gmg,gog, epic, etc. You destroy any competitive secondary market by taking away physical- it is not in any way agois thing that people should be cheering

That's a good point, however that itself presents a very strong counter point to all digital on console. Choice. All digital on PC was viable because you had multiple markets at least, where they can't brute force a price through

Ya the movie argument is bizarre. They are still very much so releasing movies on disk, a lot of folks still buy blu rays

Have to give credit where credit is due. They pulled it off by slapping a Xbox "brand" on the extremely aggressive DRM and the fans have defended it voraciously.

Like those defending putting a sliver of paper in a giant piece of useless plastic instead of using it as a disc holder in the case of Starfield- I really hope really good that isn't true

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if it's 7-8 years.
Development for standard games is taking 5 years, and this is a Bethesda gameand with the Starfield delay who knows when actual development truly started That is really really discouraging. I actually kind of hope they keep it one platform simply to shave off some dev time. Man that is really crazy

I want MS thriving because their studios are doing things to make people say I have to join that Ecosystem because their catalog is amazing and what I can't get on PS. Not because well they bought the games I love, and I have no choice.

I find it really odd that Xbox super fans think this is in any way a good idea to have this merger go through. It's not healthy for gaming long term. We also have yet to see Xbox show that they benefit developers in any meaningful way. We can argue their infinite pocket books helped Zenimax further fund delays, but zenimax is not exactly a small broke company. I mean Bethesda used their own in house developer to help with Starfield, and we all saw how grossly mismanaged Halo was.

All these franchises which carry massive massive developers costs are losing a HUGE amounts of revenue being part of a 15 dollar monthly program instead of 45 dollar returns on sold games

I just can't see this being a good thing long term

This was probably my biggest disappointment of fully commiting into the Xbox ecosystem. It reviewed pretty well too with gaming sites, the first 2 hours were kind of the "Finally I'm not missing out on a new Halo!" 3 hours later, all I could think was this feels like an empty Far Cry world with slightly better gunplay.

If Arkane can add a little magic to Redfall, I'll be set for shooters for a good minute, Cyberpunk DLC too, what a time to game

I can say without a doubt I have not been this excited about a game since Skyrim.i still vividly remember them showing that you could duel wield magic and a sword and going out to buy a new PC that week. -700+ hours later between PC and PS5.

FO4 just didn't hit that sweetspot though I still had a blast.- Kudos to the music director including classical guitar music that did drop my jaw

This just feels so much more Bethesfa, PS5 night get ignored a bit.

Will be super curious to see if the SteamDeck can pull anything off
