@themightyant This will happen though, it's that slow burn that Phil is actually REALLY good at. Gamers are stubborn creatures if you force something. However if you drip fed the idea, - early access Starfield when you are paying already for"day one through Gamepass" for a fee", the outrage has actually been pretty muted for what is a gross idea. Next they can take Fable and say only on gamepass but pay "X/Y" to play early", the outcry now and more muted.
@PsBoxSwitchOwner
I simply don't get why people cheer this digital only idea. Look at Nintendo, they are a window into this singular economy system. You pay what we want and you'll like it, we might throw a discount maybe.... You can't turn around and say I'll just grab it on X, or PS because it's cheaper or get it on pc down the road(kind of dense comparison for 1st party, but close enough)
@Kienda @ZuneTattooGuy I think it's a bigger deal on console because they are closed eco systems. There is no valve, gmg, gog, epic, etc. You destroy any competitive secondary market by taking away physical- it is not in any way agois thing that people should be cheering
@PixelDragon That's a good point, however that itself presents a very strong counter point to all digital on console. Choice. All digital on PC was viable because you had multiple markets at least, where they can't brute force a price through
Have to give credit where credit is due. They pulled it off by slapping a Xbox "brand" on the extremely aggressive DRM and the fans have defended it voraciously.
Like those defending putting a sliver of paper in a giant piece of useless plastic instead of using it as a disc holder in the case of Starfield- I really hope really good that isn't true
I honestly wouldn't be surprised if it's 7-8 years. Development for standard games is taking 5 years, and this is a Bethesda gameand with the Starfield delay who knows when actual development truly started That is really really discouraging. I actually kind of hope they keep it one platform simply to shave off some dev time. Man that is really crazy
I want MS thriving because their studios are doing things to make people say I have to join that Ecosystem because their catalog is amazing and what I can't get on PS. Not because well they bought the games I love, and I have no choice.
I find it really odd that Xbox super fans think this is in any way a good idea to have this merger go through. It's not healthy for gaming long term. We also have yet to see Xbox show that they benefit developers in any meaningful way. We can argue their infinite pocket books helped Zenimax further fund delays, but zenimax is not exactly a small broke company. I mean Bethesda used their own in house developer to help with Starfield, and we all saw how grossly mismanaged Halo was.
All these franchises which carry massive massive developers costs are losing a HUGE amounts of revenue being part of a 15 dollar monthly program instead of 45 dollar returns on sold games
I just can't see this being a good thing long term
This was probably my biggest disappointment of fully commiting into the Xbox ecosystem. It reviewed pretty well too with gaming sites, the first 2 hours were kind of the "Finally I'm not missing out on a new Halo!" 3 hours later, all I could think was this feels like an empty Far Cry world with slightly better gunplay.
I can say without a doubt I have not been this excited about a game since Skyrim.i still vividly remember them showing that you could duel wield magic and a sword and going out to buy a new PC that week. -700+ hours later between PC and PS5.
FO4 just didn't hit that sweetspot though I still had a blast.- Kudos to the music director including classical guitar music that did drop my jaw
This just feels so much more Bethesfa, PS5 night get ignored a bit.
Will be super curious to see if the SteamDeck can pull anything off
My guy, passion is a fantastic way to express yourself. But you are spewing a lot of the same vitriol you are so upset about, on more than just this topic.
What you are doing is not a healthy way to express yourself.

I always find something like this a strange tactic. Exactly what percentage of people buying this game have both consoles? It is not exactly a system seller either so if Sony fronted the cash for skins, why? This isn't COD, or NBA/FIFA where folks by brands to play with friends I'm going to just play it on whatever system DF says it runs best on, which can be a weird disparity at times
@NEStalgia I actually think it's great for those patient enough not to preorder. The game is in regular hands, you get a better idea of the games playable state. I'll be getting this regular day one as long as those testing it are not upset with it.
I don't know why, it just feels and looks like an afterthought for Obsidian. I just can't shake the feeling this was either rushed, or not high on their list of priorities
I am really really bummed out with the Avowed reveal, I loved Outerworlds, so much so I was stupid enough to buy the "upgrade". This looks like a reskinned version of that, even the melee looks like it was slammed into the engine, it doesn't look good. The use of " companions" sounds again exactly like Outerworlds despite their "importance".
I think they said a lot of similar things regarding "depth vs scope"about Outerworlds too, ya........
@Dan1283 I don't visit as much as I do Nintendo Life and Pushsquare, so I wasn't aware he was a diehard. I thought it was an okay showing, better than PS for sure, but still disappointed a bit.
@Zoidpilot4 Weirdos? I bought a series X to play Microsoft big hitters, same reason I have a PS5 a switch and a steam deck, to enjoy those systems for what THEY deliver. . Being let down by Halo, Redfall and waiting and waiting and waiting for MS to deliver is beyond frustrating. Seeing vague no dates, and almost no gameplay was frustrating. Don't get me wrong, the trailers worked as I'm stoked, but also ticked off. Starfield looks glorious, and Avowed looked cookie cutter bland.
2024, 2024, 2024, no date no date...... that was discouraging Starfield looks like every bit the reason big reason I bought my X. Fable could be great, still have no idea.
My biggest letdown was Avowed, it didn't look all that great, the visuals, the animations just looked cheap and shallow
@Zoidpilot4 "guess it's good it did because I got my PS5 and I love it, but Xbox is my main console, but it is feeling a bit....like a lie, if that make sense."
It does, that's actually a wonderful way to describe it. I'm a playstation guy 1st, but I was over the moon when I snagged a Series X. I couldn't wait to play Halo Infinite.... it wasn't bad, but hugely underwhelming. No biggie, because there are some great games coming.... okay well eventually.....Redfall( I'm a FarCry junkie) sounds like a blast and........ I figured at least 3rd party will run better, beefier system right? Wait what the heck?
I actually unplugged it after the Redfall mess, I'm extremely bummed out
One has to wonder that because so many are looking at Starfield as THE singular title to reestablish Microsofts brand /if it even stands a chance of fair and even reviews.
I'm not remotely a team green die hard, but it felt like a lot of Redfall reviews were impacted by the idea of it being that bridge to Starfield, and so it wasn't just a broken game " it was a horribly broken game"
I would love to have this, but the steam deck is already a great piece of kit and I love the thing- except trying to run nexus mods/Pripyat mods, is hilariously beyond me- There is also the whole you can only play one system at a time problem. I really love my Series X, PS5 too. Still debating "borrowing" the kids switch for Tears of the Kingdom
Holy WOW, we have never had it so good as gamers.
If Starfield knocks it out of the park, I may just not leave the house for a year
I really hope this turns out decent, well at least once they patch in 60 anyways.
I was crazy excited as a gamer once I snagged an X and a PS5 during the first year of release, but as time goes on, with largely just okay stuff from Microsoft I'm becoming a tad disenfranchised with my X.
If this turns out to be not all that good, and Starfield disappoints( I'm actually a tad worried about it) I might simply just box it up.

Ya the movie argument is bizarre. They are still very much so releasing movies on disk, a lot of folks still buy blu rays

If Arkane can add a little magic to Redfall, I'll be set for shooters for a good minute, Cyberpunk DLC too, what a time to game
So much goodness
