Re: Talking Point: Could Sony 'Block' PlayStation Games On An Xbox Handheld?

BacklogBrad

Steam is heavily rumored to be making a "console" version of the steam deck. Im betting that triggers another new market race like the handheld pc. I wonder what Sony and the people who claim that pc is "different" from the console world would think of that scenario where dozens of consoles can purchase and play playstation "console exclusives".

@dskatter i wouldn't say "clearly" sony isn't considering anything but lego horizon to test the waters. We know they had internal discussions about heckdivers 2 on xbox. We have been watching them ramp up the pc ports.

I'm betting it is Sony executives that eventually demand Playstation executives do the full multiplatform with at least one future game. It doesn't make sense for them to keep openly complaining in investor meetings that profit margins on $200+ million budget games isn't as high as they want and then keep selling those games to a fraction of the gaming industry.

Re: Pick One: If Xbox Acquired One Ubisoft IP, Which Should It Be?

@Kaloudz yes ubisoft does own his name for all future video games.

2008 article
French video game giant Ubisoft said Thursday that it has agreed to buy all "intellectual property rights to the Tom Clancy name, on a perpetual basis and free of all related future royalty payments, for use in video games and ancillary products including related books, movies and merchandising products

There are a lot of games that would benefit from this. Age of empires is a good one to try out first. Tutorials are often so much information at once that a lot is missed or immediately forgotten. But if AI can analyze a battle in AoE and give feedback like too many archers or something afterwards it would really teach the game better.

I've played almost one thousand hours in civ 6 and still feel like I learn new things or strategies every time I play it. AI would be beneficial for analyzing decisions.

Hopefully it's easy to turn on and off and not too obnoxious. I remember The Last Of Us yelling at me the second I diverted slightly off the optimal path to the objective. I found it very annoying especially for a game built around scavenging. Hopefully AI would either recognize that i was exploring for loot or wait silently for me to request help.

Re: Talking Point: Will The New '2027' Xbox Console Have Steam Support?

BacklogBrad

I'm hopeful it will have official support for steam, GOG, and Epic. Or an easy way to side load other storefronts.

It will open up some interesting issues like optimization and controller support but it would be well worth it.

I think the "home console" pc market is about to blow up. It sounds like Steam is making one, I'm sure brands like Asus and Lenovo will go there as well. Xbox should be looking for a way to get it's full xbox storefront completely on pc and not just gamepass or the microsoft store.

Re: Microsoft Has Reportedly Discussed Acquiring IP From Ubisoft

There are a ton of great IP under ubisoft and they are likely going to be laser focused on assassins creed and to a lesser extent far cry until better times return.

Its improbable but I would like to see them wrestle the Tom Clancy rights away from Ubisoft.

Prince of persia seems like a redundant IP for them too. Any potential new prince of persia game could easily be rebranded as assassins creed and probably sell better.

Realistically they probably won't get any IP or it will be smaller stuff like child of light or something.
