Here's What Fallout 76's Native Current Gen Upgrade Looks Like On Xbox Series X|S 1

Bethesda recently shipped its free Fallout 76 current-gen upgrade on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, and we're just glad it's finally native on modern consoles.

The upgrade coincides with Fallout 76's 'The Slasher' content update, featuring a spooky murder mystery event spanning multiple weeks. It features a scary masked murderer and a dangerous cult of Slasher supporters to get stuck into, bringing a whole host of fixes, enhancements, new features and more to the Appalachian wasteland.

We've not had a chance to try the native Xbox Series versions of Fallout 76 for ourselves, but once again, Fuzion Xbox Testing is to the rescue with gameplay and FPS analysis videos on YouTube. Bethesda stated that the upgrade would target 60FPS across Xbox Series X|S, with VRR support, 4K resolution on Xbox One X/Series X, and improvements to draw distance and shadow detail.

On the Xbox Series X, the footage suggests Fallout 76 is outputting at 2160p resolution at a reasonably solid 60FPS, although it does seem to dip as low as 50FPS at times. Over on the Xbox Series S, it appears to be displaying at 1080p and 60FPS for the most part, but it does suffer similar dips as it's more powerful sibling, dropping as low as 52FPS.

Oh my God who the heck cares. Stop putting time into what not arguably by far the worst fallout game and biggest disappointment from the entire IP.

It's not even worth the free pricetag that was slapped on it.

If it was the next gen patch on PC for fallout 4 it will break the entire game, I can't even play that game by 10 mins in the FR just tanks even after a fresh install and a new game

@Drewdub it’s not a mainstream game, but it does have a real fan community that plays it regularly. Personally, I’m also waiting for a new Fallout, or a remake of New Vegas — but with a real graphical overhaul and more modern gameplay

I enjoy F76 and while it has its rough spots (its Bethesda game so shocker) its certainly improved over the years so fun can be had playing it.

Will be putting some time into this again soonish but right now my gaming calendar is pretty full so I can't jump in right away.

@Drewdub I didn't find it anywhere near as immersive as Fallout 4 but I'd say it's highly underrated, especially with comments like yours mate. The world building team put a lot of time and effort into the environmental details. And the gameplay is pretty fun too. Is it up there with Red Dead Redemption 2, GTA V or Witcher? No, but I think with a free price tag everyone should give it a go at the very least.

@Drewdub Fallout 76 was not - and will likely never be - my cup of tea, but obviously people care.

If a substantial number of people hadn't been regularly engaging with the game for the past eight years, don't you think that Bethesda would have abandoned it long ago, or decide against supporting it with constant free content and a fancy current gen spruce up?

You don't care. Hell, I don't care. But asking who the hell cares? Obviously a lot of people or you wouldn't be reading or commenting on this specific article 🙄

Even though I have zero interest in this multiplayer fallout game I love this type of retrofit of games it's great to do and see.
The Witcher 3 one I'm very eager to see because I've never properly played that game!
