Re: Talking Point: Xbox Fans, How Are You Getting On With Microsoft Rewards In 2025?

shoeses

As someone that goes out of my way to earn them, I can tell you it's not worth it. One of the reasons is it seems they're using a new-ish AI to try and stop people from using bots, scripts, etc. to earn points. Except anyone who does all the daily stuff for long enough will likely trigger the AI and get flagged for Suspicious Activity just for being consistent. If you just wait a few days it'll likely go away on it's own, but it's just another layer of BS that makes people not want to bother.

Re: Mortal Kombat 1 Fans Disappointed As Definitive Edition Launches On Xbox

shoeses

Was it not already confirmed quite a bit ago they were ending development prematurely due to poor reception of the base game, story DLC, & just general bad monetization? Out of the big 3 Fighting Games that released within a year of each other, unlike Street Fighter 6 and Tekken 8 MK1 was not that well liked even at launch. Anyone surprised by this simply wasn't paying attention.

Re: Xbox Is Raising The Price Of Consoles, Games And Accessories

shoeses

@Toot1st Except they didn't. Only the physical Switch 2 games cost more and it's because they're using a new kind of cartridge. Digital games will still cost at most $70, and even then Nintendo releases most of their games for $60 still, so most of the physical games will only be $70. What's Microsoft's excuse?

Re: Reaction: $80 Game Prices Are Ridiculous, Adding Even More Value To Xbox Game Pass

shoeses

It's completely artificial value added to Game Pass. The Switch 2's physical games will cost more because it's a different kind of cartridge, and as such only the physical games will cost more. What possible excuse could Microsoft (and inevitably Sony) give to justify it, when they can't even get people to buy their games for current $70? And of course Xbox will charge more for Game Pass to, you're crazy if you don't think that's getting a big price bump too.

I don't see Microsoft making consoles after the inevitable upcoming game industry crash. They might have near infinite money, but they're not gonna keep throwing it at the Xbox brand that's been tanking for the past decade anymore. Microsoft will continue to make and Publish games like Sega as a Third-Party, and Game Pass will exist on other Platforms, but not in it's current form - it'll be like EA Play and exclusively contain games under their brands.

Re: Oblivion Remastered Players Share Their Initial Reviews On Xbox, PS5 & PC

shoeses

I'm gonna hold out until how I hear it compares to the original from people I know once I get a bit into it. A bunch of people just going to the Xbox Store page and giving it 5/5s with a meme attached isn't convincing just because it's a massive install. If it's mostly just improved graphics I'd rather just play the backwards original.

Re: Talking Point: Would You Be Willing To Pay $80 For Xbox Games?

shoeses

It's not really comparable in my opinion. First off, only physical Switch games that are $70 digital will be $80 physical. And Nintendo's gonna have them be $60/$70 or $70/$80 on a case by case basis. But people still buy physical for Nintendo, where as they don't buy or make many physical games for Xbox between digital sales and GP, and Sony is trying to push for digital-only. The markets between the three consoles are too different for direct comparisons like these. Another example is Xbox, PS, & Nintendo all have Subscription Services for online, but with all the different tiers, their pricings, & their offerings, they can't be compared one to one.

Re: Rumour: Halo's Leap To Other Platforms Might Be More Limited Than Expected

shoeses

I hope they do it a few games at a time, and I hope they do that to add Cross-play to the Campaigns. Because as far as I'm aware, the Multiplayer is all Cross-play between Xbox and PC, however only the Halo 3 and I think ODST have it as far as Campaigns go.

It could also just be worded or thought out poorly, as, well yeah, the MCC wouldn't contain 5 or Infinite which would be 'all' the main Halo games.

Re: Talking Point: Is It Too Early To Release A New Xbox Console In 2027?

shoeses

Technically? Yes, it's about time by usual standards. But for most it doesn't feel like the Series/PS5 console gen has even started yet. And I think it's gonna be a hard sell for most to upgrade considering companies still see profit in making XBO/PS4 versions and there haven't been any must-have games. Even if there are, I'd see more Series & PS5 sales than whatever comes next. A few bells 'n whistles aside, they really feel like Microsoft and Sony's own Wii U's, just reversed - Wii U had good games but bad hardware, while PS5 & Series have good hardware but no games.

Re: Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3 Announced Following 'Transformative' Success Of SM2

shoeses

It was a classic 360/PS3 Era game that people really want more of these days, instead of more 100 hour open world games that all feel identical. Hope that after 3 does well they redo the first ground up so it's playable on modern hardware with the other 2.

Hasbro is also working with Saber Interactive on something, and considering their in-house game engine specializes in vehicle physics, that screams Transformers or G.I. Joe.

Re: Microsoft Has Reportedly Discussed Acquiring IP From Ubisoft

shoeses

Ubisoft's IPs are worth more than the company while costing less, which is why you hear companies talking about wanting to buy the IPs and not Ubisoft itself. I don't really care who gets Assassin's Creed as long as they change it back to what it used to be, instead of another generic Open World grind game. Rayman would be a good fit for Nintendo, because every game could be the wackiness of Mario Wonder and more difficult than Donkey Kong making it stand out from their other Platformers.

Re: Bethesda Provides Update On Starfield DLC & Future Plans For Xbox RPG

shoeses

I'm still shocked they fumbled this game like they did... I'd be willing to ignore the vast amount of nothing, even on the main planets that should be covered in cities and only have one settlement. But the gameplay is so dumbed down and lacks any meaning that it's just not enjoyable. It just had to be Fallout 4 in space... but the only thing they learned from Fallout 4 was the voiced protag was a bad idea. So Fallout 4 was a bad Fallout game because it was made to be Starfield's prototype, but the prototype was better than the end product.

Re: Talking Point: Which Xbox Games Would You Love To See Relisted This Year?

shoeses

I find it so bizarre they were willing to make a backwards compatibility program but not do anything to maintain the library of games it offers from being removed. By virtue of the sale licenses expiring and devs delisting their own games, within the next few years it'll get to the point where if you don't already have the games, it's not a feature you can use. To the point it'd likely be a waste of resources to make it work on the next Xbox console.

Aside from that, while I'd love the Activision games being added, I'd rather have the ability to play things like War for Cybertron of MUA online, even if it meant paying for a Remaster.

Re: Microsoft Rewards Appears To Be Increasing Its Prices For Xbox Game Pass

shoeses

Stopped using Game Pass Ultimate since the first butchering of the rewards program and haven't missed it in the least. Won't pay for Core as it's a massive scam for someone who owns all the old and cheap games it offers, effectively making it $60 for online and nothing else. I'll gladly buy the MCC again on PS5 to play it online as PS Plus is amazing compared to Core.

Re: Talking Point: Five Years On, Would You Want To See A Gears Tactics 2?

shoeses

I'm of the opinion we need more spin-offs of established IPs in gaming as a whole, it'd especially benefit Microsoft having their own subscription service. As an example, I feel a Halo: Spartan Assault sequel made for console instead of mobile would be a great addition. Have a 5 or 6 hour Campaign with Co-op, a Survival Mode, upgrades, Skulls, & in-game Challenges to unlock for replayability, and make it a budget release in the $20-30 range. I don't know why they're not making more smaller scale, XBLA-style games that'd really do well for filling out the Game Pass catalog.
