Towards the end of Xbox's big summer showcase this year, boss Phil Spencer came out to introduce Call Of Duty: Black Ops 7 - but not before he championed the ROG Xbox Ally and teased us about what's coming from the team next year. Now though, in a new episode of the Official Xbox Podcast, Phil has elaborated further on these two topics - hinting at "a really special year" in 2026.

When asked about Xbox's 25th anniversary next year, the Microsoft Gaming CEO explained why games like Fable, Gears of War: E-Day and the next Forza title were missing from this year's showcase. Basically, the team hasn't forgotten about these games - instead, it's planning what sounds like a pretty epic lineup for next year.

"When you think about Fable, when you think about Gears, when you think about Forza - these are franchises that have been really part of what makes Xbox what it is today, and it's going to be a nice lineup next year.

We have a strong finish to 2025, and then when I look at '26 and our 25th anniversary and the franchises that we're going to launch in that year - I think it's going to be a really special year for Xbox next year."

As we hinted at up above there, the Xbox platform is officially 25 years old next year (gosh, we know, we're old!), and it sounds like some of Microsoft's biggest franchises will be launching new titles in 2026 to celebrate. Even just those three namedropped by Phil would be enough for us, to be honest!

However, that doesn't sound like everything they have planned. Not only are we expected to see a bunch of surprises we couldn't even guess yet, the Xbox boss has also been strongly hinting at a new Halo game for next year; backed up by some interesting findings we spotted earlier today.
