Starfield

It's now officially been a few years since Bethesda's Starfield made its debut. This was followed by the Shattered Space expansion in 2024, and earlier this year, the team released an update along with details about future development plans.

Unfortunately, though, it seems the latest Xbox Showcase has got some fans a bit concerned – with some posts on the game's subreddit and elsewhere online questioning the future of this title after there were no updates about it at Microsoft's big event this year.

Bethesda instead had spots throughout the show for games like Indiana Jones, Elder Scrolls Online and Fallout 76, and some players have now convinced themselves Stafield has been "abandoned" as a result of this.

Before we get too carried away here, Bethesda mentioned in March of this year how the team had been "hard at work" but wasn't ready to share specific details at the time about what "exciting things" were planned for the game in 2025.

Once again, this then followed with the May update – including a new Creation known as "Watchtower". The rumours about Starfield eventually being released for PlayStation 5 also continue to circulate.

Apart from DOOM: The Dark Ages (published by Bethesda), one other game that seems to have taken the focus away from certain Bethesda projects is the Oblivion Remaster, which was led by the team at Virtuos.

This Xbox Game Pass shadow drop is arguably one of the most exciting releases so far this year, with Bethesda also taking plenty of time to celebrate and acknowledge the return of this popular action RPG.
