It Sure Sounds Like We're Getting A New Halo Game In 2026

Towards the end of the Xbox Games Showcase 2025, Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer mentioned how a new Fable, Gears, Forza and the "return of a classic" would be releasing in 2026 - as we've highlighted elsewhere on Pure Xbox:

A lot of people took that "return of a classic" mention to suggest that Halo would be making its comeback next year, especially considering a Halo: Combat Evolved remaster (or maybe remake?) was reported back in June of 2024.

Now, we've also come across this account on social media claiming that they can "officially confirm" that a brand-new Halo game will be heading to PS5 at some point - they say it's "very soon", but that seems hard to believe right now.

The big reason Xbox seems to be hyping up 2026 specifically is to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Xbox, so it makes sense that they'd be keen to release a new entry in the majority of major franchises from the brand's history.

Will it be this rumoured Halo: Combat Evolved remaster? Could it be something else entirely? Is there a chance they could miss the 2026 window entirely? We won't get those answers for a while, but we're very intrigued to find out.
