Talking Point: Will We See Another 'Anniversary Event' For Xbox 360 Turning 20 This Year?

Four years ago, Xbox hosted a massive 'Anniversary Celebration Event' for the Original Xbox, and we really really enjoyed what this event brought to the table. We had some fantastic announcements from Team Green, we got that incredibly insightful Xbox documentary and in general - the whole thing just felt like a proper celebration of all things Xbox. So, do we think Microsoft has similar plans this year?

Of course, the 2021 event marked 20 years since the whole Xbox brand was born and not just a console celebration - but this year, it's Xbox 360 that turns 20 years of age. And while that's maybe not quite as significant a milestone, this is perhaps Xbox's most revered console in its history, and we do think it becoming two decades old is worthy of celebration.

It's safe to say that here at PX HQ, we sincerely hope that Microsoft goes all out for the anniversary of Xbox 360. A revival of the backwards compatibility program would be amazing, some more ActiBlizz classics joining Game Pass would be great, and how about some limited edition consoles and accessories to boot? The 360 deserves to be shouted about, after all.

Of course, we understand that Xbox is in a very different position to what it was four years ago - so despite those wishes, we are keeping expectations low for now. Microsoft is becoming much more platform agnostic these days, and with hardware costs the way they are, it's perhaps a stretch to expect much in that realm in particular. Honestly, just a big digital celebration for Xbox 360 and we'll be happy!
