@Medic_alert That sounds way more far-fetched than my theory ever could. Why would people stop buying current gen hardware for a handheld console that’s 2 generations behind, and not even out yet? The switch 2 won’t even be on the level of a steam deck.

It’s because PC gaming is more appealing than it’s ever been.

l4d2 is the GOAT zombie game. got it on pc and 360, but the games just so old now that i naturally moved on. still my favorite game of all time nonetheless

@Lanmanna yes but i’m speaking mainly because of Xbox Live and just the overall collection of games that era. we still got new IPs and new ideas that were successful, xbox live arcade was revolutionary as was xbox live at the time

@Kaloudz lucky that you got to experience the dreamcast . i never even heard of it when it was out , just ps2 gamecube and xbox . as a kid i recall only seeing the dreamcast a grand total of one time at someone’s house 😂

@gollumb82 maybe i live under a rock , but i swear it seems like i see more & more people jumping on PC these days . even on twitch , virtually every game that isn’t a (modern) nintendo exclusive has the first several rows of people playing these games on PC.

Helldivers 2 for example has way more players on PC than console & that’s a sony IP

they haven’t made a good NFS in a long time. i hope midnight club can come back one of these days, or split-second. i need an arcade racer so bad. i tried the horizon series but they’re too slow paced or feel like simulators to me

@MonsterMike so is a laptop & steamdeck - both can be played at home & on the go on a television with a controller . PS portal also can be played at home & on the go & the vita .

Why is it that people can recognize the steamdeck as a handheld, but not the switch? it’s the exact same concept.

@Isolte it’s a handheld console , not a home console like people keep trying to force it to be for some strange reason. it’s not a competitor to ps or xbox. Also please don’t be rude , we’re just talking about video games , you don’t have to say “end of story” , like i’m a child.

@TheEstablishment Regardless of how people see it, how does that change the fact of it being a handheld that can be connected to a television via a glorified adapter/middleware called a “dock” (fancy marketing again)? The steam deck is also designed to play on a television and a PC with all controllers , yet it’s still a handheld just feature rich. The PS3 had a web browser & linux support , did that make it a hybrid between a console and PC?

This all boils down to gamers having an unparalleled and extremely biased liking for nintendo , and nothing else. every point i’ve made makes absolute sense , but this emotional nostalgia people have for golden child nintendo is just simply undefeated

also, like i said - literally the only difference between a switch lite and switch is that one comes with a tv adapter and the other doesn’t , but yet the switch is a console? lol yeah ok

@TheEstablishment it’s not a hybrid , that’s just fancy marketing in the same way people called hoverboards “hover”boards , despite being on literal wheels and rolling on the ground. Just because the switch can be connected to a tv doesn’t make it a console; virtually every mobile device can connect to a TV, and can be played with a controller. couple the fact that the literal only difference between a switch lite and switch is that one comes with a dock and the other doesn’t. The GBA could be played on a TV with a GC controller , why wasn’t that called a hybrid?

i find that hard to believe . do you know how hard it is to pull away from PC with full controller compatibility with xbox controllers + game bar + all xbox games in superior format+ game pass & literal xbox live integration and FREE ONLINE ?? pc is xbox on steroids

i hope NG4 does well , it seems like the audience for hack n slash are gone, except me & a few people .

@GeorgeKal i looked up metroid dread on a whim and sources say it only sold 3+ mil, which is still a lot. many people believe any platformer that can crack a million is a success.

Would be nice if $ony shared with M$, i don’t want a monopoly in gaming. it’s cool that halo (& possibly) gears is coming to PS, but $ony has been so complacent & comfortable for too long now it’ll only get worse than it already is

More new and original IPs please. Spyro and crash had there time, can we please get some more new things from the 21st century and 2020's for current 9th gen gaming.

yea theres been some flops for trying something new, but keep trying. everything was new at one point.

i grew up with controller in hand but that doesn’t mean i don’t like gaming on PC too (with a controller!) .

i’ll never game on a mobile device though , it’s just ..ugh. i’m out in the real world y’know 😂 & it’s also just ergonomically uncomfortable

@EVIL-C i remember that ad too well, it made me look at xbox one as if i was gonna waste my money because the early years were really THAT bad, but i bought one anyway because i loved the 360

this game was fun back in the early days of the xbox one. i got it on pc a couple months ago when it went on sale , and it was practically dead

@Ilyn i think it’ll flop if that happens . microsoft should be the last ones ever attempting to enter a portable market imo . they should’ve done that when the xbox reputation was at its peak with the hype of the xbox one instead of forcing kinect . but again , just my opinion

@Ilyn right , but i was thinking more of it being as a middle ground for people that were new to PC or still wanted a more console oriented experience . think of like a PC-lite i guess, & maybe with the ability to add new custom graphic cards that M$ could make or have made by other companies, like how the ps3 had a custom nvidia graphics card
