Two years ago, Xbox and PlayStation were very much closed-off gaming ecosystems. Yes, you had Microsoft releasing the likes of Minecraft and its various spin-offs on Sony systems, while MLB The Show on Xbox had become a thing in recent years - but for the most part, Xbox was Xbox and PlayStation was PlayStation. Well, not anymore, and this week is staging the biggest turn of events yet.
Tomorrow, August 26th, these companies are set to launch two of their biggest games on each other's platforms - in what looks to be a real sign of the future. Microsoft is bringing one of its most flagship IP to PS5 in the form of Gears of War: Reloaded, while Sony is launching its mega-hit Helldivers 2 on Xbox Series X|S; the first PlayStation-published game ever on Xbox.
