NBA 2K26 Releases For Xbox This September, Cover Stars Revealed

A new NBA 2K is on the way! It's been announced that NBA 2K26 will release for Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S on September 5th, 2025 - with a week's early access for some versions of the game too.

Details on the game are pretty limited at the moment, but 2K is highlighting new ProPLAY features, a reimagined MyCareer journey, a fresh and more optimised City, MyTeam improvements and more in today's press release:

"In NBA 2K26, bragging rights are on the line in every mode. With all-new ProPLAY features, players on Gen 9 will experience the immersive technology like never before, as they feel connected to every dribble and crossover with revamped size-ups, and experience fast-paced dynamic movement."

"Fans can build a transcendent MyPLAYER as they strive to reach the pinnacle of NBA stardom in a reimagined MyCAREER journey and team up with friends to battle rival squads in a fresh and more optimized City. MyTEAM in NBA 2K26 will put past and present legends to the test in new single-player and multiplayer modes while players can lead a franchise as a General Manager in MyNBA, with 30 unique storylines to win a championship. More details on NBA 2K26 will be shared in the coming weeks."

Today isn't really about the features, but rather the cover stars. Oklahoma City Thunder's Shai Gilgeous-
Alexander will grace the Standard Edition of the game, Chicago Sky's Angel Reese will grace the WNBA Edition, Carmelo Anthony will grace the Superstar Edition and all three of them will be on the Leave No Doubt Edition.

Those Editions will be available to pre-order on the Xbox Store any minute now, going from £69.99 / $69.99 for the Standard Edition up to £129.99 / $149.99 for the Leave No Doubt Edition. The Superstar and Leave No Doubt Editions include loads of in-game bonuses plus one week's worth of early access, allowing you to start playing on August 29th.
