They're full of sh*t, stop trying to put it on your customers. Who was asking for a 50% cost increase, some old Ubisoft games and some Fortnite nonsense. Most of us subbed to Gamepass, do so mainly for their day 1 games and thats it.

At this point they just need to shut up, they're taking the piss and they know they are

Mine was up next month and it won't ever be renewed at these prices. The additions to the top tier have no value for me whatsoever, so now I'll just buy the Xbox games I want on Steam or Playstation as I don't really see a future in me investing in their platform anymore

This seems like a perk that's kind of worthless for most on either side. I'd imagine that most of those who play Fortnite enough to make use of it, aren't playing Indiana Jones, Starfield and Forza day one. Whilst many like myself who do play those games, couldn't care less about Fortnite, making the price increase just less value for me

I really should give this another go at some point. I did try it not long after launch but have never returned nut im not really a big online gamer anymore and much prefer playing solo

It might be a perk if their games weren't regularly available for peanuts in every sale. Surely by now, everyone has already bought the ones they want and if not, just wait till Black Friday where you could pick up half of them for about £20

As Ultimate is the only tier with day 1 games, there is absolutely no value in this for me anymore. I couldn't care less about nonsense like Fortnite, so without a tier that is reasonably priced for day 1 games, mine will never be renewed after next month

Xbox has 50 minute showcase in Japan, focusing on Japanese games and content and for what is now their biggest IP, that is literally set in Japan, they do this.

@Banjo- Series S is dreadful value these days and at these prices and with Microsoft's current release strategy, I see no reason whatsoever for anyone to buy an Xbox over a PS5 at this point. We're early in Switch 2's lifespan but it's 3rd party ports are showing great promise, with some not being far off what the S can do, plus it's main selling points of having Nintendo games and being portable and I'd certainly recommend it over the Series S

You've got to be crazy to buy an Xbox at any of these prices, especially that Series X for more than the PS5 Pro.

Consoles prices in general are becoming ludicrous and thats before any next gen machines arrive

I did have Bubsy for the Mega Drive back in the 90's and it wasn't terrible but also nowhere near the best platformers of the day. Bubsy 3D however is the worst game I've ever played and whilst I've seen they've given it full analogue controls, I think it would only take it up to a 1.5 out of 10 😂

That said, the upcoming new game does genuinely look really good and I do want to play that one

I can't say I'm too surprised that Switch 2 comes close here. The hardware in the Switch 2 is vastly superior for RT than the RDNA2 GPU's in these consoles, with its limitations being its power draw and lack of CPU resources to offload calculations to.

Don't get me wrong, in general the Series S will have better versions of games but in this case, I'd much rather play the Switch 2 version

I'm sorry but I don't even touch frame gen on my PC unless I'm already above 60fps as the latency is much too noticable and gorgeous this I'd lock it down to 40fps (if it maintains that)

I enjoyed it, I don't think its as good as Mario Kart World or even Transformed which felt better to play and had a more interesting character roster but its pretty good. For this type of game, most of my time playing them is in local multiplayer, where in MKW you can actually play 3 lap races and I think this isn't going to pull me away from that anytime soon, so its one I'll pickup in a sale

The Mega Drive Bubsy game was a mediocre platformer but Bubsy 3D is the worst game I have ever played and by some distance. Bubsy 3D is the game you introduce your kids to if you want them to have a different hobby

I've seen they have updated the controls of Bubsy 3D and from the clips I've seen that probably elevates its score from a 1/10 to maybe a 2 as it still has awful visuals and dreadful level design.

I am tempted by one of these, though not for the Xbox stuff as so few of my Xbox games are play anywhere and my PC library is dominated by Steam. I have considered the Steamdeck for a while but will be looking at this and this also looks more comfortable to hold than the Deck and existing Rog Ally as well

@BAMozzy I was a huge fan of Metropolis Street Racer which in turn became Project Gotham when moving over to Xbox and PGR2 is in my top 3 all time racing games. Forza Horizon may have borrowed some of it's mechanics but it's never been quite as good at the actual racing bit as Gotham was

About to? I'd argue it took over since Forza Horizon 4 released and I think it'll be difficult for Motorsport to recover after the huge disappointment that the current game is.

Right now there are less than 700 players on Motorsport through Steam but over 13,000 on FH5 and 5,000 (higher than FM all time peak) in FH4, which you can't even buy anymore.

I'd argue that Forza Horizon and Sea of Thieves are actually Xbox's 2 biggest IP these days (outside of those they bought)

None of these are exclusive to PlayStation hardware and in fact, Gran Turismo is their only major exclusive now. They've already moved away from being hardware centric

Rare were a huge part of my gaming back in the 90's and early 2000's and are responsible for so many of my favourite games. But as is the way with modern gaming, the lifespan of Sea of Thieves covers the same period of time as 3 DKC games, 2 Killer Instinct games, 2 Banjo games, Diddy Kong Racing, Blast Corps, Jet Force Gemini, DK64, Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, Conkers Bad Fur Day and soon you could add Star Fox Adventures.

Thankfully the rather excellent Donkey Kong Bananza retained the spirit of those classic Rare games

Utterly absurd, why do I need to prove I'm over 18 on my Microsoft account, which itself is over 18 years old? Not to mention they've regular been selling me 18 rated games for the best part of 20 years

Well today I learned that Anthem was still online. I tried it at some point (feels like a very long time ago) and it was a hugely disjointed experience. The town hub felt like it was from a different game and many environments seemed like they weren't designed for the flying mechanics. I also remember a cutscene where there was a campsite full of people and when it switches to gameplay, there was basically nothing there.

A huge mess of a game that had no direction but did have some half decent mechanics slapped on top

The days of "fully utilising" consoles are gone, these are just PC components cobbled together these days and then you have the fact that we've long since past the point where all the big graphical jumps have already happened. Even on a high end PC you can't really push much past the visual fidelity of the PS5/Series X outside of RT features

Bought this day one back when it came out on PC and it became my favourite game of that year. It perfectly encapsulates what made the the character so good and is a much better sequel to Robocop 2 than that 3rd movie was

What's surprising about the more powerful console with a significantly higher power draw running games better? It's a handheld console that can also be used on the TV and let's be honest, the overwhelming majority (myself included) aren't buying it to play the standard AAA games that are everywhere. We're buying it for Nintendo's games.

I also wouldn't call the Series S good value, in fact I'd say it's terrible value in today's market. The 1tb option is almost the same price as a digital PS5 (actually currently more expensive due to an offer on PS5) and not that far behind the digital X

@The-Chosen-one thing is, Cyberpunk worked well on PC at launch, it was just the last gen consoles that it should never have released on, whilst No Man's Sky worked fine, just its content was lacklustre vs how it was marketed. This though is a disaster on every level and basically broken on every platform

Thankfully I saw this disaster coming so didn't get conned into buying it. I don't mind the concept of the game being something of a Headhunter style game but releasing it in that state is completely unacceptable

When its worked its been a decent experience but with noticable lag. The premise of it is fantastic and I enjoyed the challenges but it really should have an option to download it and without that, its not something I'll continue to play

I'm sure it is getting closer as thats just how time works but I'm not expecting to see it anytime soon, let alone actually playing it

On that list there's only Doom The Dark Ages I've really put any time into, so it wins by default but I'd also say its a very good game and in my top 3 overall so far this year, just behind Mario Kart World and with Death Stranding 2 at the top. In terms of the modern Doom games, I prefer it to Eternal but Doom 2016 is still the best of them.

Just a bit of a shame Oblivion has such performance issues as I really want to continue playing that as well

Sadly still just a tiny amount of the games I actually play, about 13 altogether.

Those that are missing include GTAV, GTA Trilogy, Cyberpunk, every Resident Evil game bar RE2 and even Xbox's own games such as RRAE Replay and Doom 2016

This is great for those handhelds but I don't see myself using it on my PC as the Steam UI is significantly better than the Xbox app, plus 99.9% of my library is there. Not only that but you've been able to add non Steam games to your library there for as long as I can remember, so I already have a consolidated library

Makes sense to be limited as its not a long term viable product, though kinda strange its effectively just the same price as buying all the bits independently. Personally I'd advise anyone to simply pay a bit extra an buy the Quest 3 (non S) as it has a higher resolution display and better lenses

Not in the slightest, mainly because I've been enjoying their games recently so was already excited for those and their upcoming games. As for their hardware or PC's with some Xbox logos on, they're not products that I have any interest in but as already said, I'm excited for their games

I've got a Quest 3 but streaming Xbox games from the cloud is pretty low on the list of things I'd use it for and if this doesn't actually come with VR controllers, then I think its a pretty ridiculous product

So likely Windows based with some form of compatibility layer for Xbox One/Series games (most of them) which aren't play anywhere

@FraserG for newer games it makes no real difference it being a PC over a console but for me personally, if it had been a true Xbox handheld that could play 360 and og Xbox games I'd be very tempted, as a PC I just don't care as I wouldn't ever use it over my actual PC.

No, I don't really play games handheld and already have a powerful PC, so have no need for a handheld PC, even one with an Xbox sticker on it

@Scrubchub @Ricky-Spanish they do have some subtle differences, I have the Starfield controller and it has rubber grips on the back and a different texture on the triggers, making it much nicer to hold.

That said I've just got a standard white one from Argos for £36

I need to get back on this at some point, I played a lot back when it came out but still not returned for the dlc yet

@awp69 yeah I suspect it's location based as Xcloud barely works for me either. Luckily I have other ways to play these games but it'd be nice if these worked for me
