FEAR is one of the first games I played when I first got a high end gaming PC many years ago and is still a regular go to on my current PC. It's absolutely worth a play on Xbox, especially as its now 60fps and Condemned is another of my favourites from back then
@jesse_dylan now that you mention it, I remember seeing a post on Twitter about while ago about those, they look pretty interesting. I'm gonna have to have a go at getting them running on my PC
Yes I will definitely be buying this and it's instantly become one of my most anticipated releases of the year. I only had to wait 30 odd years for a great looking 16 Bit Terminator 2 game
Just give me the ability to fully customise my home screen instead of having it filled with stuff I don't want to see. At one point we were able to add multiple groups to it and pretty much organise it how we liked but they've since removed much of that and made it much worse
I'd put my playthrough on hold as I was waiting for this update on PC for the DLSS 4 implementation, ray reconstruction and full RT shadows from every light source, so now I can jump back in
@themightyant yeah I think licensing will remain the biggest stumbling block for such efforts of games preservation. Also as you say, this could potentially be their way of getting your Xbox library onto PC as well, which I'd be all for
This sounds really interesting and is AI used in a good way to aid development and speed up the process. It'd be cool if it could indeed get many older games compatible with modern hardware too.
I'm really enjoying Indiana Jones, though have my game on hold as I await their new DLSS update this week but I'll be very interested in first it's dlc and then what the studio get up to next
This is why I actually prefer Xbox over PlayStation at the moment, as they let me choose how and where to play my games and even my save files can follow, whilst on the other side, I have to rebuy my games on PC and no saves transfer either.
All I care about, whether it be Xbox, PS or Nintendo is playing the games and if a future Xbox console offers great features and performance then I would absolutely consider it, even if their games are elsewhere
I think I got one in 2002 as I remember Sega GT being one of my first games. Back then I was mainly a Sega and Nintendo gamer and whilst I did have a PS2, it didn't get much use.
After Dreamcast fell away, it was the Gamecube I played most but loved the Xbox for racing games such as Project Gotham 2 and the GTA double pack with improved visuals over the PS2 originals and Panzer Dragoon Orta
@LaurenceJ1987 no problem, Banjo has way more experience than me when it comes to LG specifically but just to add that VRR is not only active on 120hz modes in games but also 60fps games benefit from it as well without having to turn anything on in game, as once it's set in the Xbox menu it'll always apply and help smooth over any drops from 60
@LaurenceJ1987 Your Xbox should tell you if you go into general TV and display options and there'll be an allow variable refresh rate toggle if the TV has it
@Banjo- you wrote "balanced mode on Series X connected to regular displays" but balanced mode isn't available on regular displays as its a 40fps mode for 120hz displays
@Banjo- John said go with balanced mode on Series X not performance on a 120hz display, on regular displays balanced mode wouldn't be available anyway as that's the 40fps mode
Sadly that's not a high bar when it comes to UE5 performance, though this still requires a very high end CPU to bypass the usual traversal stutters to a degree at least.
Still I'm eager to give it a go on PC on its second release date
@themightyant there is a big patch coming next week to add DLSS 4 on PC and they've said also includes bug fixes, so hopefully this is one that gets sorted
I started playing this a couple of weeks ago and its the best game I've played from 2024, it's an outstanding adventure game that really captures the feel of those movies. The exploration and puzzles are rewarding and whilst you can have action if you want, I think I've fired my gun once in some 20 hours of play
A rebooted storyline first and foremost, there is no need to be limited by that Arkham timeline anymore.
I wouldn't mind them having another cracking at a smallish open world but one that's actually populated by citizens. Throw in some real investigation elements and multiple ways to solve crimes and build upon the excellent combat we had
I'll be playing on PC beyond these but it's great to see more developers supporting 40fps output for consoles, as these give the user a much better experience than 30fps does on supported screens
At this point I'd suggest that it doesn't make any sense to not have all of Xbox's games on Playstation day 1, when their biggest franchise is now COD and everything is day 1 on PC anyway, why keep anything exclusive to a box which is constantly declining in sales?
The reality is that I've enjoyed many Xbox games over the years but these days none of them on their console, my PC is how I play Xbox games
I think I'm still never going to play it, nothing about it is remotely interesting to me. Thankfully on Quest there was a great Batman game last year in Arkham Shadows
I currently have Gamepass on PC, though I'm not sure I'll be keeping it. That said I'm enjoying Indiana Jones maxed out with path tracing, the one advantage of Xbox games on PC day 1, they tend to be way better versions than Playstation offers, I'm also trying out Ninja Gaiden 2, so for the time being it's worth it
Sadly I've never had a satisfactory experience with it, I did try it again recently on my TV and it was basically unplayable with far too much input lag and I can only assume this is down to my location.
Streaming certainly won't be the way I'd play games but it would be useful to test before downloading or perhaps for my son to play
I think so, personally I prefer Doom as a more grounded shooting experience than jumping and swinging around like Eternal, so Doom 2016 is the the better of the 2 so far for me. This looks to be even better from everything we've seen so far amd arguably even closer to what the original Doom games were with enemies everywhere instead of walled off combat zones.
Add in the giant mecha Doom guy amd the Panzer Dragoon style gameplay and this is looking exceptional and certainly my most anticipated game this year
I'm subscribed until November this year as I did the last remaining conversion trick last year to get 18 months for about £80 and for that price it's great value but I'm not sure I'd ever pay full price for it as I play so many games outside of it. Still it is a great option to have and I'm currently playing Indian Jones that way but I'll probably buy Doom as that's a game I'll be playing for years to come
@Prestige-worldwide perhaps this is a change of strategy but Indiana Jones is £10 less on Steam, as is Starfield, FH5 is £5 less but with CD Keys, even if a game is the same price I can still get it cheaper, Doom The Dark Ages is £52 for example that way
I said that as soon as Microsoft bought Activision that they would start to wonder why they're selling millions of copies of COD everywhere but not their other games and for Xbox this does make perfect sense. I think any future hardware is going to be more PC based than console, especially if those Steam rumours are true.
Personally I'm happy Xbox are going down this route, I may not have the console anymore but I'm still playing their games on PC and because they're developed with PC in mind, I'm playing Indiana Jones with path tracing
This is what I want from Doom, not jumping around and dashing like Eternal. Just lots of guns and lots of enemies to shoot. There is no game this year that I'm more excited for
I would absolutely welcome a new Banjo game or 3D platformers in general from other developers but to suggest that this would do Mario numbers is laughable. Even back on the N64, Banjo didn't even remotely compete with Mario sales wise
There is no reason whatsoever to buy an "Xbox" handheld, by the time such a thing exists, there will be countless PC handhelds that play all of Xbox's games as well as many, many others
A new console for Xbox at the moment makes no sense when they're seemingly putting more and more of its games elsewhere and this "everything is an Xbox" model, coupled with their current consoles sales on a constant downward trajectory.
Then you have to look at cost, all the current consoles cost more today then at launch, whilst the Pro is pretty expensive, so how much would this be?
This year I'm certainly buying less new games than ever before as I've still got plenty I've not put much time into. This year I'll be starting off by playing much more in VR than on the TV, I've got back into it recently and enjoying it much more than I have traditional gaming for the last few year

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2 Drops To 'Lowest Price Ever' On Xbox For The Weekend
It's about time Rockstar made a 60fps patch for Series X/PS5.
It's crazy how so many games have had current gen updates, yet this never has

Re: Here's The First 'Top 10' Metacritic List Of 2025 For Xbox Series X|S
Were it not for articles like this or Twitter, I'd never see a Metacritic score, these days.
That said, Like A Dragon Pirate is the best new game I've played this year so far and is a lot of fun, I tried Avowed but it just didn't click for me
Re: Xbox Has Officially Delayed Fable Into 2026
Disappointing but it's better for a game to be released when it's ready

Re: Review: Avowed (Xbox) - Flashy Action & Excellent Exploration Make Up For A Surprisingly Breezy Narrative
One I'll certainly check out but I'm usually more interested in the stories and exploration in this type of game as opposed to the combat.
That's why I'm enjoying Indiana Jones so much, I've just got to the Himalayas and think I've fired my gun once

Re: Avowed: Release Date, Release Times, Early Access Details For Xbox & PC
