Its going to be a Switch weekend for me this weekend as one of my gaming goals is to finish more games this year on my Switch.
Dragon Quest XI S (Switch) Just got to the city with the circus and horse races. Right now I am just trying to craft better weapons and armor for my group.
Echoes of Wisdom (Switch) Still getting use to this game. On one hand it feels great to play a new 2D Zelda game. On the other I am slowing getting use of the lack of direct combat.
Outside of video games. I recently started playing in a Daggerheart campaign so I will be playing that as well.
Have a good weekend everyone and Happy New Year!!!
@McDen I felt the same about Clair Obscur man. Tried it for a few hours and couldnt see the hype in it at all. It amazes me that its made so many top lists and won all those awards but you know man the sheep.
@NintendoByNature I did play it for a few hours and just couldnt get into it. Which makes me wonder how its GOTY at all. For me its the same as FF VII back in the day. All hype and nothing more.
As for Echo of Wisdom I did indeed pick it up and will be starting it at some point probably after I finish Dragon Quest XI S. I made it a goal of mine for 2026 to play more Switch games and the best time I find to do that is right before bed for an hour or two. As a result it may take me a while to get through some games but I am enjoying the journey.
@Markatron84 I enjoy the game alot in fact this is my second time playing it. I played it and finished it on PS4 during the COVID lockdown. Its easily one of the best games last Gen and probably my favorite DQ to date. To be fair though I only played a few other DQ games.
It Takes Two Borderlands 3 Suikoden 1 Mortal Kombat 1
Thats all I really "finished" I did play more but some of them I dropped for various reasons. While a few of them took me a few months to finish, Suikoden 1 and Borderlands 3 due to my gaming schedule. Next year I am going to try to finish a few more games, right now I am working on Dragon Quest XI S on the Switch and looking at a few other ones.
Well of course Clair Obscur had the most votes. With every media outlet touting it as the greatest game ever made everyone is just going to jump on the bandwagon. To many mindless sheep nowadays. People are too afraid to speak the truth and go against the majority because they want to fit in.
@IronCrow86 The only way we are going to get WoW on console is if they build if from the ground up. Maybe they could do WoW Classic, which honestly be the best place to start since there will be alot of new players. Doing retail WoW is just impossible to port over as its been going for 20+ years on PC.
I'd say probably about 80%. Series X is where I play most of my Co-op games both couch and online plus new releases like Borderlands 4, Avowed and multiplatform games. I do have a Switch which I am trying to use more often mainly for exclusives, the NSO Library and single player games that I can just chill and play at night before bed like Dragon Quest XI S.
I do have a decent gaming laptop but I dont use it to much for gaming except for PC exclusives games like WoW, Heroes of Might and Magic 3, and mods for Fallout like Fallout London.
@BrownOwl Yep and just as I thought Clair Obscur is running away with it. This is why award shows are b.s. It clouds people's judgement and they are too afraid to go against the grain then. They just want to be cool and jump on that band wagon. As I said too many sheep.
@Balaam_ I had that same problem with Tony Hawk 3+4. Dont get me wrong it was one of my most anticipated games this year but growing up and playing the original on PS2 I just couldnt play it on the Series X and it was the controller. Normally I prefer the Xbox controller over Sony's but for that game it just felt bad. I had to get the game on PS4 since I dont own a PS5. Once I did everything felt.good again and I was able to pull off combos and such without any problems.
These "award" shows are just popularity contests. It never matters how good or bad your game, or movie or song is the one that is more popular will win. Which is why I never put any stakes into these shows. I know what a good game is and I dont need anyone telling me what is.
So only because they won GoTY in a popularity contest they are releasing a patch that should have been released. So your telling me if they didnt win they wouldn't have released it?
Awards like these are always popularity contests. It doesn't matter if its the Oscars, the Grammys, or Video Game awards its what is the most talked about game that gets the award, which is why I never pay attention to the awards ceremonies, I dont need anyone telling me what its a good game and what isnt. I played Clair Obscur for a few hours and just found it dull and boring myself definitely not a GotY contender in my book especially when you had so many other great games come out worthy of that title. Avowed, Borderlands 4, Dispatch and a few others. Its just that Clair Obscur had the better marketing budget.
The one of the reason I went with a Series X this gen over PS5. I was tired of having 3 different Playstations hooked up and take up so much room just so I can play my entire PS library. With a Series X, I have my entire Xbox library on one machine. I can play a game of Crimson Skies, then switch to Forza Horizon 1, then play some Battlefield V, then play some TMNT Shredder's Revenge all without having to get up and switch consoles. I even went back and played some 360 games that I missed during the 360 lifespan. Also I didnt have to buy anything to make sure my 360 hooked up to a modern TV like I had to with my PS2 just to play a few games.
I wish the other two game companies would embrace backwards compatibility like MS does.
And its due to sales numbers like this that make the Microsoft big wigs think that no one is interested in Xbox consoles anymore. They dont look at forums or surveys they look at numbers and raw data. So when they see numbers like this of course they are going to want and make the Xbox division switch their focus from console development and exclusives to multiplatform releases.
Nope. I was looking forward to couch co-op campaign to play with my son. But once it was apparent that they lied about it I deleted the game from my console and I havent touched it since. Really disappointed by this game and it was clear that they just lied to get sales.
@NintendoByNature I saw that and it reminds me of Shredder's Revenge but with a Marvel paint job. Its definitely on my Christmas List and cant wait to play it.
@FraserG Agree. Netflix is a streaming service not a gaming company. I dont see the point in Netflix buying the gaming division as well except to turn game IPs like The Arkham series or Mortal Kombat into some sort of TV Show kinda like WB did when they bought out Midway's IPs like Rampage. The only other thing I can see them doing with the gaming division is mobile games but I dont see Netflix games coming to Xbox, PS, Nintendo or PC.
I knew Activision couldnt be trusted. Which is why I didnt bother playing this game. My FPS days are gone sadly ruined by corporate greed and lies. The last good FPS was XDefiant and Ubisoft decided to bury it.
Nope. I got games in my backlog to complete. I just started Dragon Quest XI S, about to finish off Borderlands 3 and have Mafia: The Old Country to play.
Non video gaming wise I also started playing in a weekly Daggerheart campaign so that has my free time as well. Besides no games coming out in December interest me.
Activision is panicking. They finally pissed off enough of the player base and its fans arent going to stand for Activision's strict SBMM system and AI slop. Hopefully this is the wake up call Activision needed and next year's CoD will go back to the way CoD was before MW 2019.
Not really. With backwards compatibility alot of the big games that defined the 360 era can still be played which keeps that gen fresh in people's minds. To be honest I didnt even realize it was 20 years till I saw articles here.
Once backwards compatibility became and previously gen consoles getting longer life spans the generations just blur together and as a result a person forgets how long its been since a said consoles debut.
Nothing for me. I have games on my backlog to play plus I am wrapping up Borderlands 3 and I just Dragon Quest XIS so I am good on games for awhile. Will be using that money elsewhere.

@IronCrow86 At this point its more MS that's keeping them from delivering. MS is the one now who says what goes on Gamepass and what doesnt.
