Two Key Members Of Xbox Game Studios Are Stepping Down

You can't go a day without some kind of big story in the world of Xbox right now!

This latest one concerns the leadership at Xbox Game Studios, as boss Craig Duncan has announced that he's stepping down from his role, and Chief of Staff Louise O'Connor is doing the same thing.

The news was first revealed by The Game Business earlier today, along with a quote from Duncan to his staff:

“When I stepped into the role of leading XGS 20 months ago, my purpose was to serve our studios, our teams, and the people making our games. Together, we set out to deliver high-quality games, strengthen the cultural fabric across our studios, and help shape the future of the business. I’m proud to say we delivered many flawless launches that drove business success for the company.”

Both Duncan and Louise O'Connor were veterans at Rare, with Duncan switching from the Sea of Thieves team over to Xbox Game Studios in late 2024, and O' Connor joining as Chief of Staff after the cancellation of Everwild in 2025.

Duncan also shared a message to his team about O'Connor today, stating that she's been a "thoughtful, creative, and trusted partner who has consistently championed the craft and supported our studios with clarity and care".

No reason has been provided for their departures as of yet, but we'll update this post if we get one.
