Plenty of great games could be added plenty with limited license issues some I suspect with no license issues and tons with complex license issues.

@DaddyDuder agreed, it makes me laugh that people here post about Xbox protecting exclusives or it’ll kill Xbox and yet saying £1200 is a sensible price. If the next console launches at that price home console gaming as a widespread industry will already be dead. As you say 80% of the current console purchasers won’t touch it. Maybe even more. I don’t know why everyone is clamouring for a next gen right now we’ve hardly had a booming generation this one. I’d let this one breathe a good few years and concentrate on bringing out some must have games

As is in the modern world she (or more likely Xbox) faked it and in a really stupid way. Got caught out and now it’s got silly. They’ve put someone in charge that doesn’t play games. The Xbox cult lot will defend this like they defend everything else, but day one OG Xbox purchasers like me that are more interested in Xbox thriving than defending a billion dollar company will rightly be concerned Xbox has a head that clearly doesn’t have a passion for games. Anyone defending this is bonkers. It might not be the end of the world but it’s a ridiculous situation that was always going to backfire

@StylesT often as a gamer and someone that keeps an eye online it’s amusing to watch reactions to shows, both the media and fans do it, over blow one show and hype it play down others, with the Star Wars Racer, John Wick, Metal Gear stuff, Silent hill, god of war, it was jam packed and whilst a lot of the stuff doesn’t appeal to me I can see the hype and worth of it.

I think Xbox announced a load of stuff and people get hyped cos it’s all “free” on day one - where as everything you have to pay for on Sonys announcement. - I think gamepass is clever that way - people just accept £23 a month and then psychologically claim to themselves everything is free. So then xbox studios everything they release people don’t have to worry about paying or “wait for deep sale” - it’s clever TBH - I liked the look of GoW side scroller but with my back log and the games coming real soon I was like “do I need to pay £25 for this when I haven’t bought the terminator or marvel side scroller yet” but if it was game pass I’d be more hyped coz I’d be saying playing that right away. So I think xbox naturally gets more hype when it has showcases coz Gamepass subscribers know they can play it all day one “for free”

£280 quid a year but also free.

I’m not actually mad at the Xbox strategy like a lot of gamers here are. Coz putting games on Sony and Nintendo just mean those platforms are propping up the gamepass model and helping funding these games.

I’ve cancelled my gamepass as I play too many niche games that take up my time that I didn’t get £280 out of it but for those that embrace it is amazing and it certainly makes Xbox showcases buzz which is something PlayStation can’t compete with coz they want you to pay for the games and deciding how hyped you are for a game this hurts.

First few comments here I was proud to be a member of this community - then it went downhill fast. 😂 why are people like it.

It was a great showcase, any gamer has to say it was full of a diverse mix of games and some of them look truly epic.

I thought last year was a poor year all round really, this year is shaping up to be much much better - especially for multi platform gamers.

If you only have “loyalty” to one brand and defend it like you own it - it’s looking like a slightly rougher year tbh

Both the NBA and WWE games are far better than people would have you believe, they are both good arcade sports titles and there aren’t enough of them about

These sorts of games are doomed. Demand just isn’t there and people don’t want to risk paying into a game built on a premise of “live service” that can be pulled at any second.

The gaming industry needs a big reset.

Anyone know why Steam, Nintendo and Sony aren’t spamming me about verification and only Xbox? Are the other three gonna force everyone too? Xbox gives me frequent pop ups and has already restricted some services for me? Why are they going so hard on it? Sony and Steam haven’t mentioned it? I’ve not used my switch for a while?

Common sense unfortunately is now outlawed….. by my account age means there is no way I could be underage. My account has credit card attached to it - credit cards are only allowed over 18 - credit card should be enough verification. It doesn’t matter if it’s Xbox or UK government rules - it’s stupid.

No wonder there is such a backlash

@Daffy-Duck people boycott everything and anything these days. Harming innocent folks. The gaming industry is rife with online campaigns to review bomb and boycott whole companies and games and it isn’t damaging the people it’s meant to. It’s a shame. I wouldn’t mind if we were seeing better behaviour and society being better but I’d argue everything is getting worse for horrible toxic behaviour

Ten hours in on Xbox - which is fairly near the end of the story - and controller works fine so they must have lol - it’s not that bad a game tbh - it’s just nothing like GTA and has no real open world sections. There are so many baffling game design choices which is a shame coz the story and missions are actually good

I picked this up for £10 and I’ve enjoyed it. I’m fairly near the end. It’s not at all open world. Which is a shame coz the map is huge and looks amazing, so many design choices are baffling but as a linear cinematic action game and for the new lower price it’s a decent game and very enjoyable. But it’s fine to also believe it’s the worst game ever…..

With the releases to the wwe roster it’s currently the smallest it’s been for years…. We are either gonna have a TON of legends or some very very very random additions to make up the numbers.

lol. Everytime I see these JPEGs it makes me chuckle. Someone struggling to themselves to justify how much they pay for gamepass “but look at all these day one Xbox exclusives” looks impressive at first sight but once you go back through the list…… not so much. Even this “bumper” year from Xbox - isn’t that stellar.

Not dated at all imho and still an absolute leader in its field much better than modern FPS but doesn’t feel right at all not on a n64 controller. The reason it was so good was the controller was perfect for this game and added so much to playing

Free day one “but loads of content locked behind a paywall” - it was always gonna go this way and price of GPU has rocketed. I’m very concerned about this game tbh.

Remember the way the address “concerns” in motorsport. To upgrade cars you had to race each car for ages….. terrible decision. I’m so bummed out this was my most wanted game

I’ve played FH5 for well over 200 hours. That’s just on steam deck and must be close on Xbox. I read they were doing this to make “the grind meaningful” and genuinely if making the game a grind is the aim…..I’m out. Wristbands worked fine before but events and not cars were locked. This sounds like a mechanic they make even more live service and no doubt when people get game and complain they’ll fix it with the ability to buy access.

Comments section on Xbox games going to Sony are always great entertainment on here - from both camps of “fans” for me as an owner of both. Great news that games get reduced and more people can access them. Games shouldn’t be used to divide us. Enough other stuff do that. We should celebrate good games together

I own every gen of Xbox and currently have a OG Xbox, a Xbox 360 and Xbox one S and a Xbox series X - I would disagree Xbox series X is “the best of the best right now” that’s a bold statement but it’s a beast for sure….. but the Xbox one is a monster for sure. But gen for gen all of them are great. What would be truly great is one machine that played all the games. Proper. From Rallisport and Buffy Vampire slayer all the way to Forza Horizon 6…. When it arrives….

“It’s the right path” no one outside Xbox core fanbase and ardent gamers are buying into it. That would be the right path….. if Auntie June and non console owning people start subscribing and loving and and deep down we all know this isn’t happening…… the Wii was genius it had grandparents, non gamers, families all buying and playing, Xbox dreams of creating a Netflix movement for games but so did Google and so does Amazon and it’s not even close to cutting through and gaining traction. You sit on a throne of lies if you believe it is.

Can’t wait for Horizon 6 - please Xbox don’t Motorsport this up…..

@BacklogBrad that’ll never happen. I don’t understand why people believe this miracle in cloud gaming will happen. Everything will not be playable. It’ll be carefully managed to keep the subs ringing. Let’s be honest Xbox can’t even negotiate to keep Forza games from needing to be delisted. Maybe when that occurs I’ll believe the rhetoric that Xbox stands for game preservation.

Easily over 20….. with digital, still prefer physical I don’t have game pass but most my purchases are in steam deck these days

@Markatron84 yeah people like to perform mental gymnastics to prove a point, WWE 2k25 has huge live service elements and it’s clear it rewards you for “daily logins” has content that vanishes and has content locked behind a huge grind or shortcut paywall.

Unfortunately a lot of gamepass day one games feature live service elements too, as they want you to stay subscribed..

Any game that has time sensitive content, weekly or daily challenges, “seasons” with content that vanishes, virtual currency you can buy…. Should be be considered live service in my book.

It’s ok to like live service games, I don’t (well I don’t like the live service elements) but at least let’s call a pot a pot!

Forza Motorsport 5:6:7 were all amazing games and added and changed the formula whilst still being awesome. How did they muck Motorsport up so much?

I think it’s less amazing the ruined Motorsport and more amazing they didn’t ruin Horizon tbh.

I feel here we should be as positive and “balanced” as we were about the Xbox take overs.

My fave type of game is arcade racing/driving - and I didn’t buy this…. This shows how bad a job they did marketing and launching this, it looked like Burnout meets Fortnite and seemed too much reliant on gamers to make stuff and that’s bottom of my list. Open world, arcade racer with take downs would have been enough, add in a crash junction mode and people would have been all over it. It’s such a shame.

If you chat to fans of steamdeck most will tell you that their gaming habits changed the day the bought one, it’s not for everyone, (I have a few mates IRL that sold theirs) but the majority have sunk way more hours on steamdeck than they would a conventional console, with mobile game huge too… you can see why Xbox decided to go this route. Xbox only fans… (pun not intended but whatever) will love this device as they feel loyal and invested and also discover how easy it is to enjoy other games on this device. It’s clearly a brilliant device and if loyalty and the logo is important to you, it’s a no brainer, but other devices would do very similar for less money. I can’t wait for the next leap up in the handheld gaming, I sink so many hours into the steamdeck and know the next SD or XBox/PC device step up will be huge.

@Banjo- agreed fella - even if the next gen Xbox is £1k if it lets me put in all my old disks and play every game back to classics like Rallisport and the buffy game from the OG Xbox I’ll be delighted. If it’s no disk drive and not got ability to play the game that are old and in license hell I’ll be less impressed, but if it can play steam again I’ll be all over it.

I’m not against this handheld. I just don’t like the marketing or phrasing with it. I can see why some people love it. A Xbox handheld you could play your digital games would be way cooler. Same reason I didn’t love the portal but it was £200 and clear only ever claimed to do one thing and that was never be a PlayStation

@eduscxbox talk about a victim complex, I own every generation of Xbox, I own over 800 physical Xbox games and hundreds of digital games. It’s not bias.

I own multiple Xbox’s of every gen up to current where I only have on series X.

@Banjo- a PlayStation is literally called a portal! It’s never claimed to be a PlayStation and a steam deck you can install to it from steam.

They’ve learnt they can’t break into sell massively shipping consoles against - Sony and Nintendo and the know the other devices (gaming PCs and steamdeck etc) are also gaining momentum so they will milk their core base that refuse to look past Xbox.

It’s a bold tactic. Calling it premium and charging loads will appeal to horrible influencer types and they’ll lean into that. Ironically giving units away to those style people and trying to create some FOMO….

It’s emperor’s new clothes, nothing is an Xbox except an Xbox and people are going to be disappointed and be put off.

When I was a lad if we got fobbed off with a 3rd party controller you knew you were gonna get hammered. “Ugh not this controller, I’m gonna be oddjob” often spoken. 😂 nowadays they want twice as much for a 3rd party controller. The game is gone.

@FraserG fair dues. I can see where you are coming from then. I think it’s such a tough device to review. So many * sort of side issues that you have to be aware of - like you say you almost have to approach it in a bubble and ignore all the issues or take them as a given. I appreciate the reply and your honesty.

@Weebleman but loads of us pointed that out years ago and were shot down as haters. Xbox keep painting themselves into a corner and people that don’t like the resulting bad choice between two bad choice decisions are still labelled haters.
