Unfortunately statements about “future events” and a “system fair to everyone” speaks volumes. They went for Microtransactions and milking the fan base and it’s a buggy messy on top.

Firms will eventually go back to unlockable cosmetics in games and games that feel like a deep rewarding experience. They’ll realise the few spenders they hook is nothing compared to being a big game.

Hogwarts Legacy has loads of cosmetics. Loads of unlockables. No Microtransactions.

They were clear about this.

When gamers know that VC or MT isn’t in a game it helps gain traction for sure

@Kezelpaso the way it was worded before it was definitely a code in a box. The uproar meant they quickly changed their stance. The new wording mentions no code, no way do they give a disc and a code. So what we have here is a U turn.

Which is fine. The disk itself is pointless if it’s an online needed to play solo anyway. As when servers are Turned off if dies.

It’s definitely made me buy less. 3rd party games I buy on other platforms now and “wait for gamepass” - I find it hard to believe 26% of readers here pay the monthly fee and happily buy the same amount of games as before. That would suggest not a single game they buy is on gamepass or they pay for gamepass and buy everything even if it’s on gamepass. A quarter of you do that?

I’m saying No. I think they’ve convinced themselves they buy the same amount of games but they really don’t. It makes no sense to do that. I could take 10% would buy everything they play gamepass or not “to support the devs” and use gamepass like playable trials. (I doubt even that % do) but 26% no. You really don’t buy the same amount of games. It’s illogical. Xbox’s own recent figures and admissions say you don’t.

People care of gamepass makes money because Xbox isn’t a charity. I know some on here believe Xbox is some sort of pet project and it can lose money. It can’t. They want it to make money. I want it to sustain. I want gold quality exclusives, I don’t care about “free” games. I’ll happily pay for good games.

On here people want to make anyone that doesn’t like the GPU model an “enemy”…….

@BleedingDreamer Xbox have admitted it in the documents about Activision. The opposite to what they said last year. Pure Xbox haven’t run a piece on it though. Which is strange.

If you are begging to be on GPU, your game is full of DLC… is looking like it won’t sell so you’ll take a lump sum or is MTX heavy….

I’m glad to see reviewers have stayed professional. Although most seem at best ill informed at best, and seemingly want to alienate a huge group of their readership by opting to take sides. Which is a real shame. I did expect better of both pure Xbox and push square.

It’s a U turn (for now) - Xbox best feature is PR, they are amazing at PR….. in recent months, it’s gone horribly wrong, they will lose a lot of momentum if bigger PR mistakes are made.

Sony has terrible PR. Always doing and saying stupid stuff. It’s why Xbox had built up such good will.

Unfortunately it can be eroded quite quickly. I hope they turn it round and stop saying and doing stupid stuff.

Also all these big studios have to fit in a sustainable GPU calendar. We would have before or could have got a Bethesda, Xbox studios and activision game all close together. Now we never will.

A new Banjo game is dropping this year now I believe and thats not on the graphic and that will have a lot of people rightly excited….

@abe_hikura for expansions and DLC in the ultimate edition is a lot of extras. To what is already a robust load of content. I’m not a fan of season passes and dlc in general but if you are going to have them Forza Horizon gets it right IMHO

A bit like the “FTP” Halo multiplayer and the really short campaign…. This is the GPU future.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again I’d rather pay for exclusives and they be the full complete package, with good sized campaigns. That being said £70 is ridiculous.

Forza is exactly what it should be. I’m happy with that but nothing to blow me away. It’s where we would expect a Forza game to be.

The shadow drop was interesting. That’s a tick from me.

Redfall, I suspect it’s multiplayer or nothing when devs say it’s solo player but best player multiplayer that’s usually a huge under statement! Xbox are increasing turning their back on solo player experiences. As the rest of the show case showed.

Waited a long time for that and yeah it was serviceable but not blockbuster. I hope they have a lot more up their sleeve and oven ready…. I suspect they don’t.

Played it on N64 recently.
Aged brilliantly. Far better than most modern FPS.
Proper campaign. Great controls. No rubbish gimmicks, no online nonsense.

I miss the excitement of waiting for the next batch of BC games to be added and then seeing if you could be the rush to get a second copy cheap before they all whacked the prices up.

Xbox “Manage your expectations”

At least the PR is starting to match the delivery. Before it was “we are making so much money from GPU, people who put their games on GPU make so much money:.. we have so many exclusives coming….”

They sack thousands of staff and say manage your expectations…..

After the last 18 months my expectations have been well managed indeed.

“This year will be our year lads” is wearing thin on me.

Like others have said. Concrete info, and then dates that stick and a steady flow of really really good games.

Deep single player campaigns.

Less GaaS aspects.

They have the studios…. They had plenty of staff… less so now…. Time is to deliver.

It’s obviously a good service. No doubt. Just different folk will find different value.

I miss a flow of exclusives. Last year was a blip but it’s a big blip. Halo disappointing didn’t help either.

I don’t think this year is particularly chocker either.

Day one exclusives is definitely the USP and it’s not really been a factor for a while. I also worry both Activision and Bethesda will release less games than they would have done to fit in with a GPU calendar. They won’t spoil us with exclusives they will release in a planned way. Previous we could have got a acti, Beth and Xbox studios game all in the same month. Now we will get one a quarter maybe two max.

I’d rather pay money and have more games. Especially like I’ve said with solo player campaigns. Halo 8 hours was on the short side when you consider all things.

Lots of people sub to GPU for the USP of all the Xbox exclusives day one. We just had a plus with no first party AAA exclusives….. that would indicate that, If you were primarily signed up to enjoy Xbox studios day one exclusives I’d say over 12 months without one is a pretty large dip no?

Why do some of you find it difficult to read and believe that not everyone blindly hands over money for the same reasons as you.

The other games…. I like niche games and have a back log that’s ridiculous between steam deck, xbsx, ps5 and switch plus older gens and evercade…. So I’m less fussed about random titles. That’s just me.

We all game in different ways. We all pay a different amount for GPU. We will all value it differently.

I love my Xbox SX. I’m a fan of Xbox. I don’t particularly love GPU.

I just wanted a decent solo player campaign. That’s the heart of halo. Xbox studios are all about service games because they want people hooked on subbing.
It was too short this campaign. Undelivered and didn’t have co-op. Wasn’t the devs fault. More casualties of MS complete mismanagement
