Curious. It took the devs one extra year of development to release a game that looks worse than it does on Sony's system. I think I'll just wait for the mythical Sun Wukong's birthdayπ€£π€£,in exactly one year and se how the game looks by then...if nothing else, it'll be cheaper at least.
If indeed Japan will be the next place for FH then I can already see PX giving it a 10 on the locales alone, seeing as FH5 was basically deducted points due to not having a Japan setting π π .

So let me get this straight. In the eyes and opinions of these former Sony execs (see both, Shuhei and Shawn) the only good thing for the game industry and developers is if I buy my games at Β£70 or Β£80, and other options that offers me value (GamePass), the opportunity to play a plethora of different game genres big or small is a big no, no. I'm very happy for Grounded 2 and Obsidian. They are great game makers that deserve to be successful and with Switch 2 and PS5 versions still to come it bodes well for them.

I hope they'll find a way to continue development with project. Perhaps with a smaller publisher like Focus or Kepler Interactive.
@Questionable_Duck
It's full open season for GamePass bashing at the moment .
Clearly all the (current) troubles of the gaming industry are because of GamePass π . And not at all due unsustainable development budgets, unrealistic expectations, perpetual growth targets and over saturation.
All that is to say, yes, I am implying games released on GP sell worse compared to games not offered day 1 on any services
Fair enough. Even Microsoft have acknowledged that game sales are affected by GamePass. But I also think that just pointing the finger at the service every time a game is not selling tens of millions, is a serious stretch. Its funny that most people don't think that the exorbitant game prices are not damaging the industry but GamePass does.
I'd argue Expedition 33 would have sold far better if it wasn't on GP. That game is a masterpiece that should have sold tens of millions
Are you implying that one of the reasons Expedition 33 did not do tens of millions is because of GamePass?
Just out of curiosity, why do think that a game like Astrobot which by any metric is/was considered a masterpiece and not on any of Sony's subscription tiers only managed to sell between 2.5 to 3 million. What's to blame there?...
I'll very likely buy it because it's a game I'm interested in playing, and not because I want to show Sony (or their fanboys that regularly invade PX) that we Xbox owners buy games.
Yes. I want Microsoft to be more like Sony and Nintendo and just say sweet f**k all. And just like that, no one is going to be confused π .
They to have a relatively steady flow of first-party games with GamePass also being fantastic. So no more talk about next gen please ...just more great games.
And you can guarantee articles like this one to bring them out like clockwork every time.
It goes like : Why is Microsoft taking this approach or, this is a desperate attempt from them, or, they are leaving the hardware business etc, etc.
But my favourite one, is, how will a trillion dollar corporation make money by allowing multiple store fronts without the walled garden approach that everyone seems to be such big fans of π .
so you can play the games you want across devices anywhere you want - delivering you an Xbox experience not locked to a single store, or tied to one device
I can and will fully get behind this approach. A console like experience combined with the freedom of PC. No more walled garden store fronts or being at the mercy of were my gaming library is. Sign me up π.
Although to all the people drooling at the possibility of Sony games running on an Xbox, do not get your hopes up. Sony can and will likely block access to running their pc games on Xbox consoles
Frankly most of us would be shocked if they wouldnβt block them π . Like you point out they are doing it already with GeForce.
Personally, Iβm far, far more interested in options like this: there's a reference to delivering an Xbox experience that's "not locked to a single store or tied to one device", with Team Xbox working closely alongside the Windows team, rather than being able to play Sony PC games on Xbox.
Excellent, this is most excellent news. I want Microsoft to go in a different direction from what theyβve been doing and some of the quotes from Sarah Bond make me really hopeful we'll see something different from them.
I don't know if it will be as easy as that, but Microsoft will definitely have to try and offer something that differentiate it from what Sony will do.
Except I'm not rooting for Microsoft as a publisher. I want them to explore a different strategy since is abundantly clear that their traditional console approach is not working out all that well. There is a space for all three to operate within the gaming industry offering different options. Hence, why I pointed out that it's tiring to see people suggesting/speculating that Microsoft's options are limited to the point of just becoming a third-party publisher.
Iβm sure if they are developing and releasing a next gen box they would want people to buy it
Indeed. Hence why it will not be or cannot be a box in the traditional sense as people seem to expect. That boat has well and truly been taken over by Sony. It will have to be something quite different, and, hopefully not in need of saving..
I donβt understand how next gen hardware is supposed to save them. As iβve said before, unless they pivot back to exclusive content, i donβt even see the point of it thb
Why would they need saving, when it's clear as day that Microsoft will never be able to.out console Sony (Phil Spencer words, not mine). Microsoft needs a new direction and strategy if they are to stay relevant in the gaming hardware business.
Sony is doing their thing, same with Nintendo, so why shouldn't Microsoft carve out their own thing?
It has become, both tiring and depressing to see people actively wishing for Microsoft to go into games development/publishing only. I don't see how that would be such a great idea, and I'm hoping they'll stick with their strategy of a hybrid console /PC, because I think there is market for it.
Edit: Fingers crossed whatever shape Microsoft's hardware will take, it will not release before mid 2028.
I keep seeing comments like yours and Iβm in no way trying to be dismissive of the points itβs raises. But then I see the gleeful reactions on sites like PushSquare (and other gaming sites) about how great it is that Microsoft might leave the (Xbox) hardware business altogether and how all they need itβs a PlayStation, etc, etc.
Perhaps people donβt much mind, a none-incentivised Sony or a Β£1000 PS6 price tag after all π β¦
Whatever Microsoft is aiming for with these devices, is definitely not a sales success with the frankly crazy pricing. Not for the likes of me, I'm afraid.
I don't see many people arguing that it's okay now, nor do I recall people being elated when Sony did it and then it became standard across the industry. And maybe this could be another precedent set (this time) by Microsoft.
What I'm trying to say is, that gamers complain vociferously, then still proceed to buy the games even at the prices they were so angry about, in their millions.
Voting for once with our wallets would probably make sense...(and a point).
It's not a deflection. In the early period of the current gen Sony was leading the charge on rising prices on their first-party games. Shortly after (months, I can't recall) others followed, including Microsoft....
My point is you likely won't be playing Sony games on an xbox developed device anytime soon
Your point also makes another point. It's the palatable elation felt from the Sony hardcore populace for every device Sony blocks their games onπ π€¦ββοΈ...but you're very likely right though.
Keeper, Clockwork Revolution and Aphelion have elevated this to an A for me. The games diversity was absolutely excellent too. Best show of the year so far π.
I think people aren't realizing the importance of competition in the console space. If Microsoft continues to give up in the console space, Sony can do whatever they want, can charge whatever they want. Sony is already getting away with their worst generation ever
I don't know mate. I regularly visit gaming sites reading articles and the accompanying comments sections, but I hardly see anyone concerned that Microsoft will quit the Xbox hardware business and how will that affect the console landscape.
If anything the hardcover fans only care that the plastic box they religiously support stays king of the hill even if it's the only show in town....
Personally, I hope Microsoft will support the Switch 2 with all their games the Ninty system can handle
I have still to play the Oblivion Remaster, Metafor R and Doom the Dark Ages. These games will take me months to complete, so it will be a long while before I'll buy Black Myth.
Last year when it released on PC/PS would have been different, but this year it's (I'm) truly stacked.....perhaps in exactly another year's time to mirror the definitely no PlayStation exclusivity deal ππ .
Iβm looking forward to start playing this (but also dreading it in a way because itβs another gargantuan undertaking at 100h+,π) And Iβm still not fully finished with Expedition 33, finally got the flying ability and even more of the map seem to have opened up. So I donβt know when Iβll get to ReFantazio.
Given that Microsoft is now starting to sell its titles outside of Game Pass on other platforms β including PlayStation β you have to say that Yoshida probably has a point
Yeah, when you go out and aquire two reasonably big (π) game publishers ,you start exploring avenues of return for said investment. It's not an unheard-of concept...
Acknowledging his bias as a former PlayStation leader before going on to champion them anyway
Kudos to Shu for being upfront about it π .
Now, from my position as an Xbox ecosystem customer, Microsoft's approach has been financially super healthy for me.
There is a reason why I no longer subscribe to any PlayStation subscription services since early 2023, and it's not because Sony's approach to subscription services is healthier π...
