We've seen a lot of Xbox console updates being implemented ever since Asha Sharma took charge as Xbox CEO a few months ago, and it looks like we're getting primed for yet another exciting one in the near future.
Brad Rossetti, who is the lead of the Xbox Insider program, noted earlier today that all new Insider updates have been paused on consoles this week to prepare for something that will be "worth the wait" next week instead.
This has inevitibly attracted a lot of speculation, including from Windows Central editor Jez Corden who has suggested that it could be related to the disc-to-digital program that Xbox is implementing behind the scenes.
Here's a look at what he had to say, referencing its apparent codename of "Positron":
Should it turn out to be the disc-to-digital feature, it's been reported that this will convert physical libraries into digital versions by inserting discs into an applicable Xbox console, and it'll even feature support for Xbox Play Anywhere. Xbox has apparently been testing it internally for some time now, so it might be ready for a public appearance.
Maybe it's something totally different though! We'll have to wait and see what happens next week, and in any case, it seems the new update will remain exclusive to Xbox Insiders for a little while before going public for everyone.
Stay tuned - we'll keep an eye out and let you know what happens with this ASAP.
