We're still gutted by the cancellation of Rare's mysterious IP Everwild earlier this year, and here's hoping more details come out about it - we'd love to see some in-development footage and get more behind-the-scenes info.
In the meantime, it's been revealed that Everwild's executive producer, Louise O'Connor, has been hired by Xbox for a major role inside of Xbox Game Studios, taking on the job title of "Chief of Staff".
This is described on Louise's LinkedIn page, where the role is described as the following:
"Driving connection, collaboration and momentum across Xbox Games Studios and continuing my passion for game development by supporting some of the most iconic gaming studios, leaders and teams in the world."
You can see some footage of Louise in the Xbox UK podcast episode above, and she's very much a legend of the development studio Rare - starting there back in 1999 and working on all sorts of games over the past 25+ years.
In fact, we think this is going to be her first role away from Rare in the games industry, and we wish her all the best over at Xbox Game Studios. Keep in mind that the head of Xbox Game Studios these days is Craig Duncan, who also used to serve as the studio head at Rare, so you might even call it a reunion of sorts!
Best of luck to Louise, and let's hope we find out more about what happened to Everwild in the future.
