Xbox Makes Its First State Of Play Appearance As Microsoft Flight Sim 2024 Jets Off To PS5

A bigger surprise at this point would be if it wasn't coming.

PSVR 2 support was a nice surprise!

Microsoft supporting PSVR2 more than Sony now 😅

Let's be honest. It's a simulator, not many people are interested in this. I don't think it sold that well.
So it's ok, if it's reaching a bigger audience.
It's way more absurd, that Gears Reloaded came to the thankless PS players.

Watched the show it was ok, but not much for me, maybe I’m getting older but was still not like the old PS4 Sony, and that’s coming from a Pro owner.
Now my attention turns to my series x and GPU, with Outerworlds 2, NG4 and COD.

Kinda lame that Microsoft is making the PS5 version of Flight Sim superior by adding PSVR2 support, but at the same time, this isn't the first time they've done this.

They added PSVR support to Minecraft several years ago during the Xbox One era, but they got rid of it recently.

The kick in the teeth for me is that MS have consistently resisted VR headset support of any kind for the Xbox, as they said the technology isn't where it needs to be for console.
And yet, here they are, fully supporting VR on a competing platform.

I know whatever comes next xbox wise, be it console or PC hybrid will probably support VR, but in the meantime, xbox users will effectively have the most feature stunted version of the sim, and that seems a pretty poor way to treat customers who have supported MS's latest generation of hardware.

@Eejay The technology isn’t there… and the poor sales of the PSVR2 shows that. But Microsoft has no issue with supporting VR in general. They support PC, Quest, and support PSVR in the past.

They just aren’t willing to put forth any money to manufacture or support a poor selling product on an already poorly selling system. I’m sure if the Xbox system was in better condition sale wise… We would see VR.

But also, Asobo Studio is an independent studio. It was probably their decision to support vr on PS5 instead of Microsoft

I played a bit when it came to Game Pass but wasn’t really feeling it. The addition of PSVR2 support means I’ll be buying it fully, so they got me haha.

PSVR2 support seals the deal. It redefines Gran Turismo 7. I can only imagine what it’ll do here

@Eejay I don't think Sony will pursue VR after this generation. It's still relatively niche (even though I absolutely love my Quest/PCVR setup). The biggest VR titles thus far have had considerable financial banking from Meta etc. Yes Microsoft can afford it but if they are willingly ceding console numbers to competitors and focusing on software going forward, then there's no reason for them to get involved in VR hardware. They could work on software to allow third party VR headsets to work with Xbox but that ship has likely sailed. Another thing to consider with PSVR2 getting MSFS2024 is how punishing that game is to run despite it being predominately cloud based. I don't think the level of detail is going to be a show stopper, put it that way. Still, I'm happy more people will get to experience what is an incredible product - if you like flight sims/armchair travel/geography.
