Like Bomberman? Like free games? You're in luck! Super Bomberman R Online is officially arriving on Xbox later this week (May 27), releasing specifically for Xbox One, but also backwards compatible on Xbox Series X and S.
This version's highlight feature is the "Battle 64" mode, which takes the form of an online battle royale in which up to 64 players are spread across 16 starting battlefields, with the winner being the last person standing.
Super Bomberman R Online features loads of customisation and an optional Premium Pack for £9.99/$9.99 with additional cosmetic enhancements and the ability to host private matches with rulesets including the Battle 64 mode, Grand Prix mode, and of course, standard Bomberman for up to 16 players.
Oh, and there's also cross-play with PlayStation, Nintendo Switch and Steam users! Awesome.
"As Bomberman returns with the gameplay that has made the franchise a party game classic – blast through battlefields, find hidden power-ups and use them to blow away foes – the action in SUPER BOMBERMAN R ONLINE erupts to new heights with the “Battle 64” mode.
Delivering an original battle royale experience, up to 64 players are spread across 16 starting battlefields. As levels are cleared and players are whittled down, the number of battlefields continue to shrink until the ultimate final battle to be the last bomber standing."

I thought the Xbox version was delayed?
@mousieone apparently not anymore lol. can't really complain on that front though, people who wanted it on xbox don't have to wait no more.
the lack of news of cross progression is what makes me wonder what platform i'd use.
@Nalverus which is weird because they just announced the delay last week. Lol games like this are always better with a larger player based anyway
Lovely to see the Bomberman series continue to get plenty of love; a rare thing to receive from Konami these days.
That said, whilst somewhat tempting, I don't think I'll be picking up this free-to-play and online focused entry (those aspects are usually not my cup of tea). My big hope is for a Bomberman game with a big adventure mode component like Bomberman 64 or Generations, but regardless of whether that happens, I'm happy to see the series receive new games on consoles.
