I hope Ubisoft+ will be incorporated into gamepass ultimate because I'd absolutely love to play a collection of assassin's Creed games as well as far cry games. I played AC origins when it was on gamepass and I freaking loved it so much. I already own AC odyssey but on PS4 (my favorite AC greed since AC2). If it's not apart of gamepass ultimate I don't see myself purchasing Ubisoft+ on its own.
Out of this batch of games I'm most interested in Redfall. I'm a fan of prey & a fanatic of DEATHLOOP so when Redfall was announced as an arkane Austin developed game I was intrigued. The thing I like the most though is that it's bringing an awesome looking co-op shooter to Xbox! I can't wait to hop in with some friends and explore an amazing looking mystery world filled with demonic vampires 😁🙌
The game runs extremely well on Xbox Series S & after the update the frame pacing seems to be fixed. I've noticed the spatial audio is a bit rough but other than that, I'm enjoying the game a LOT more than I had anticipated I would. Happy gaming ✌️
@Kaloudz the main reason I want the Activision deal to go through is for the incredible but dormant IP's they have. I would love to see Tony Hawk's Pro skater comeback (I genuinely loved tony hawk's underground and T.H.U.G. 2), then you have Crash Bandicoot, Guitar Hero, Spyro the dragon, DJ Hero, StarCraft, True Crime, singularity, phantasmagoria & prototype plus many more that I don't even know. Point is they can really capitalize on IP that's been laid dormant.
On a side not I don't care about new COD games releasing day one on gamepass and in fact that doesn't make sense financially BUT gamepass would be a brilliant place for Microsoft to put the amazing back catalog of COD games. So many people would subscribe just to play COD4:MW, World at War, MW2, MW3, Black Ops & Black ops 2 & while these games are still technically playable via backwards compatibility, the games have been so long unsupported there's either no community at ALL or simply massive hackers. If Microsoft could salvage some servers these games would be EXCELLENT additions to gamepass. I have high hopes for this acquisition lol happy gaming ✌️
In conclusion this post is LONG probably too long but but after seeing some comments trashing a console that is actually a badass little BEAST, I had to offer some counter arguments to the narrative that the Series S is holding back game development. This is simply not true, the number one thing holding back development is greed. Publishers forcing devs to make games compatible with aging consoles that are extremely underpowered compared to current gen but they insist because of the large install base of 150 million + (PS4 & Xbone combined). Once development is focused solely on current gen, I believe we will see that the Series S will still hold its own. In the last link we're already seeing this to be true. MWll is a great example of what the Series S is capable of. It runs extremely well, looks gorgeous & offers an experience that's almost indistinguishable from the PS5 version.
Sorry for the long post, to those that made it to the end have an awesome holiday season, happy gaming ✌️
@Jireland92 you are absolutely correct! I bought a Series S to compliment my PS5 & truth be told it's the best gaming purchase I've made in a LONG time. I've played games on both PS5 & Series S back to back & that performance gap isn't mind boggling. MWll for example, I could barely distinguish the difference between PS5 & XSS as both games run at a stable 60fps and the main difference is resolution (dynamic 4K vs dynamic 1440p).
A lot these devs now having issues is honestly ridiculous. The number one thing holding back development is PS4/Xbone. Gotham Knights is prime example of a game that spent most of it's development cycle trying to ensure it's playable on PS4/Xbone consoles & then 9 months before the game releases they decided to drop the PS4/Xbone consoles because they feared performance issues. I truly believe that if Gotham Knights spent it's entire development cycle building the game solely for current gen I think the game would absolutely be capable of hitting 60fps.
One thing that frustrates me is people (general public, kids arguing on websites) don't realize that the Series S has a lot more in common with the Series X than what meets the eye. Both consoles feature an AMD Zen 2 CPU (Series X clocked at 3.8GHz and Series S clocked at 3.6GHz) & a RDNA 2 GPU (Series X has 52 Compute units clocked at 1.8GHz & Series S has 20 CU clocked at 1.6GHz). Both consoles feature GDDR6 RAM (16GB on XSX & 10GB on XSS). Both consoles feature the same WD SN530 NVMe SSD with custom ASIC supporting PCIe 4.0
The reason I mentioned the technical jargon is to paint a picture as I've seen so many people suggest that the Series S is simply a slightly more powerful Xbox one S which is something that can't be further from the truth. The Series S is an entry level next gen console through & through. The console is NOT designed to push 4K graphics at 60fps+ and therefore doesn't need that extra graphical grunt that the Series X needs to push those visuals. The Series S is more than capable of running modern games at 1440p at 60fps+ just like what it's been designed to do.
Many developers have said that the Series S punches above for it's price & that optimization between the two consoles is similar to scaling games for a more powerful PC as well as making sure it runs on lower end hardware as well. Here's some links confirming that it's NOT all doom and gloom for the Series S.
This game absolutely exceeded all expectations. I am so surprised at how well it plays on my Xbox series. It's got an incredibly cool story dealing with the Greek god's with some platforming, puzzles and action combat to keep everything tied together. I was really surprised at how much I like this game, I'm about 15 hours in & there's Soo much to explore I had no idea the adventure would have this much depth.
@UltimateOtaku91 see that has me concerned. I absolutely LOVE Xbox but I also enjoy PlayStation as well. That being said Xbox has truly been killing it with gamepass & forward thinking in regards to getting more games to more devices which is a breath of fresh air TBH. When it comes to Call of Duty I am afraid that if Xbox makes in exclusive it will hurt the COD community & cost them way more money than to keep the IP all to themselves.
I would like to see COD stay available on all consoles but have exclusive perks for Xbox. It would be AWESOME to have ALL the past games on gamepass so that Xbox players can play any COD they want at anytime on any device. One of my favorite things about my Series X is that I can access every Xbox 360 game I ever bought digitally and to my surprise when I booted up my series X for the first time I had the option to download Black Ops 2 (which I did and omg it's so awesome lol Tranzit Zombies is so underrated).
It makes more sense financially to keep COD on PlayStation for years to come but they can also use the IP to push gamepass subscriptions (with gamepass you can play EVERY COD ever made on any device via Xcloud). I just truly believe that it's not good for the gaming community to keep a game that's been available on every console since the beginning. Either way I'm fine as I play on BOTH consoles but mainly my Xbox series X thanks to gamepass & it's incredible backwards compatibility (there's some amazing games on Xbox 360 that I'd completely forgotten about). My series X is my first Xbox console since 2015 when I gave my Xbox one to my little brother & just kept my PS4 then PS4 pro to myself. I am now spending more time on Xbox, I bought my wife a Series S which she absolutely loves and says is leaps and bounds better than her PS4 pro. (Series S is actually a BEAST to be honest) happy gaming y'all ✌️
The Xbox series S has REALLY blown me away with it's performance. When Far Cry 5 released on gamepass I was amazed how how well it looked running at 1080p with 60 FPS boost enabled but then I recently picked up Far Cry 6 & it's gorgeous on the series S running at 1440p and 60fps on my 43 inch 4K TV. It's tropical island setting is stunning visually with rivers, trees & waterfalls it's just amazing. I genuinely love FC6, it's different from Far Cry 5 but it's a good game. I picked up a digital copy from Newegg for $20 and I'm blown away at the depth of the game. There's actually a ton of stuff to do. The Xbox series S has been such a powerful little beast if a console providing me some of the BEST games I've played in a long time. For a console that's only $299 I actually play it more than my PS5 which I NEVER thought that'd be the case but here I am lol just goes to show quality games outweighs everything else and right now I feel like I have more quality games on my Xbox. That's not to say the PS5 doesn't have quality games but for me personally I've played at beat the main AAA games so as I wait for more games to be released the Xbox series S keeps me entertained. Happy gaming y'all ✌️
I'm here to say this game looks so freaking amazing on my Xbox series S like holy WOW man I was NOT expecting the graphical fidelity to be this good! I thought it'd look washed out but I am pleasantly surprised how well it looks on my 4K TV! The buttery smooth performance makes such a massive difference, going from 30fps to 60fps makes it feel like a truly updated version of the game! This will be my first time playing a Far Cry game, I'm 5 hours in and completely blown away! Happy gaming ✌️
I got the game clip 2.0 for the Xbox controller & while it works it just isn't comfortable to game with. I REALLY like the razer kishi design which is similar to this, that being said I recently got a Samsung Galaxy tab S6 lite Android tablet that has become my favorite device to play gamepass games on the go with. It's got a beautiful 10.1inch 2000×1200 HD+ display that makes games look gorgeous especially considering it's Soo much nicer to play on a 10.1inch display vs. a 6inch display because I can actually see what's going on lol.
does anyone know of a company that makes a device similar to this or the razer kishi that'd fit a 10.1inch tablet? I've seen pictures of them on Google, I've also seen one company that makes one strictly for iPad but I would LOVE a device similar to this that'd essentially turn my tablet into an oversized Xbox game pass switch hybrid device lol thanks in advance, happy gaming ✌️
I can't wait for the next Forza game to come out! I've enjoyed Forza Horizon 5 more than any other car game since Gran Turismo 4 on PS2 lol. The Xbox series S has continued to surprise me with it's performance! TBH I was so apprehensive in purchasing the console due to people's comments online but in ALL honesty the Xbox series S is one of the best consoles I've ever owned. I've owned every Xbox since 2001 and I also own an Xbox series X, that being said the series S is the console I spend most of my time playing (Series S is in my game room, my series X is in the living room). I've played many games back to back between the two consoles & while the Series X is amazing at running games in 4K at 60fps what's shocked me the most about my Series S is it's ability to upscale most games to match the 4K display while continuing to run at 60fps. Now the difference in resolution is obviously noticible comparing a native 4K image to an upscaled 4K image you can clearly see the difference BUT it's not as drastic of a difference as I thought it'd be. Playing Forza Horizon 5 with performance mode (60fps) looks absolutely gorgeous on my 43 inch 4K TV & now I have Forza Motorsport to look forward to! Another thing that's perplexed me is the Series S ability to run games at 120fps in 1080p (you will have to swap the HDMI that's included with the Series S for a HDMI 2.1 cord). I've personally played Fortnite, Dirt 5, Doom Eternal & knockout city at 120fps on Xbox series S and it's freaking amazing! If someone told me I'd be able to play Fortnite with it's new Unreal Engine 5 upgrade with a resolution of 1080p at 120 Frames Per Second for the price of $299 I'd laugh & call you silly! Anyone who's on the fence or can't find a Series X or can't afford a Series X I can honestly say you will NOT be disappointed with the Series S! I'm so excited for the release of Forza Motorsport next year! I'm honestly looking forward to the plethora of games coming to these fine new Xbox consoles! Happy gaming ✌️
@Spaceman-Spiff I honestly thought it'd be an awesome surprise for them to sell customized skins for the Series X|S consoles! I think they'd be extremely popular especially if they kept the prices reasonable. As it sits, it's neat that they are releasing a pride month controller. I just hope they keep the option open forever, not just for pride month but let us make pride controllers whenever we'd like.
If you look at how bad the chip shortage is combined with supply constraints I truly believe it'd be foolish for either company to release a "PRO" model. The only reason pro models worked last time was because BOTH companies already massive install bases and because by the time 2016/2017 rolled around 4K TV's had become increasingly cheaper.
The PS5 might as well be a golden unicorn, I've still never seen one on a store shelf. It took me 15 months to finally get my hands on one & the XSX wasn't much easier although I was able to get one much easier. Point being these consoles barely have an install base, these companies need to figure out how to get consoles into people's hands. Microsoft actually did smart by making a cheaper & easier to produce next gen system as it's the ONLY console I've actually seen in stores. My local Walmart, Target and BEST buy all had the Series S on store shelves. Producing pro models with more expensive components makes ZERO sense when Sony & a lesser extent Microsoft can't even mass produce their current flagship consoles. I think Sony and Microsoft need to focus on mass production of their current flagships and make sure that anyone who wants one can buy one from a secure legit source. My wife got tired of waiting for a PS5 so I asked if she'd be willing to try a series S I explained to her that since she doesn't play on a 4K display she didn't need the extra grunt of the PS5 or XSX and needless to say she's been so happy with her series S lol she hasn't touched her PS4 pro in months & now she's committed to the Xbox ecosystem. It just goes to show availability is everything, you can't sell consoles that aren't there. Happy gaming ✌️
@Nalverus the issue started for myself Friday afternoon. It effected myself, my wife and 3 of our closest friends. My wife and I love in the Pacific Northwest USA, 1 friend lives in southern California, Another in Alaska and the last in Florida so the outage was felt across the country. We couldn't play Fortnite, Rogue Company, Forza horizon 5, Halo infinite, Dying light 2 or any other game for that matter. Most frustrating was the fact that games I have purchased digitally wouldn't work offline at ALL! I couldn't play any of my purchased games which I honestly wasn't expecting because I thought Xbox fixed their DRM restrictions allowing players to play their purchased games offline. I truly hope this gets resolved ASAP because now I'm afraid if my WiFi ever goes out I won't even be able to play single player games offline.
@Beagle I'm also extremely impressed with my Xbox series S & TBH I wasn't expecting much from the little BEAST due to all the hate the console gets. I am so glad I gave the console a chance because it's performance is remarkable, playing Gears of War 3 at 1440p and 60fps makes it feel like a brand new game. I've also played a vast number of series X|S enhanced titles & I've ran comparisons to my one X and the major takeaway is yes some games run higher resolution on my one X but I genuinely prefer the series S and it's higher (more stable) frame rates. The series S also does a remarkable job upscaling most games to match my 43inch 120Hz 4K TV and I didn't think games would look as good as they do but the series S really knows how to make games shine! One of the biggest surprises for me has been the ability for the series S to run games at 120fps. I've played Fortnite, Forza horizon 5, COD Warzone, Doom eternal and Dirt 5 with 120fps & that's blown me away! Yes these games drop resolution to 1080p in order to hit that 120fps but what surprised me the most was how consistent the framerates were. I saw zero stuttering & enjoyed the games quite a bit at 120fps. If I was running my series S on my 27 inch monitor I think I'd use 120fps more often but on my 43inch TV I definitely prefer the 1440p 60fps as it gives the games that added clarity which is nice. I'm happy to see the Xbox series S getting love, it's a fine console & I can't wait to see what games come next 😁🎮✌️
I think bringing BF2042 to game pass could give the game some new life or making it Free2play because as it sits right now I wouldn't ever consider purchasing this monstrosity which is sad because back in the day BF3, Bad Company 2 and BF4 was all I played and now there's a void for that type of shooter and it's a shame SMH 😑
I've been a fan of Xbox since the beginning. Got the OG Xbox the day it released, same with the Xbox 360 & Xbox one. That being said, after 6 months with the Xbox one I gave the console to my little brother & switched to PlayStation full time. Fast forward to January 2022 when I got the Xbox series S (first Xbox in 9 years) and I can honestly say it's been nothing but revolutionary for me. This tiny little box is an amazing powerhouse! I was under the impression that it was going to be a lackluster experience, I truly thought it's performance would be similar to PS4 pro. I'm so glad I was wrong, this thing is way faster than the PS4 pro thanks to it's amazing Zen 2 CPU
I'm looking forward to what's coming to gamepass 💯 percent! I recently beat Halo infinite (best Halo game I've played since Halo 3). I'm currently working through Psychonauts 2 and having a blast! I'm considering playing through the dishonored series as it's something I've yet to experience. I'm looking forward to these games coming sometime in 2022; Redfall, Starfield, scorn, as dusk falls & stalker 2
@NeutronBomb I heard they are shutting down servers for the original Titanfall game but I believe Titanfall 2 maybe still be online for the foreseeable future. It's a shame because TF has stellar multiplayer that's far more accessible than Apex legends

Re: Xbox Design Lab Is Working On Something Exciting, Apparently
@Spaceman-Spiff I honestly thought it'd be an awesome surprise for them to sell customized skins for the Series X|S consoles! I think they'd be extremely popular especially if they kept the prices reasonable. As it sits, it's neat that they are releasing a pride month controller. I just hope they keep the option open forever, not just for pride month but let us make pride controllers whenever we'd like.
Re: Digital Foundry Questions The Need For Mid-Gen Console Upgrades
Re: Xbox Working On New Update To Fully Fix Network Outage Issues
Re: 10 Backwards Compatible Games Transformed By The Power Of Xbox Series S
Re: Is Battlefield 2042 Heading To Game Pass Soon? Xbox Store Listing Updated
Re: Soapbox: FPS Boost Is The Most Underrated Xbox Series X|S Feature
Re: Xbox Game Pass March 2022 List: Coming Soon & Leaving Soon
I'm looking forward to what's coming to gamepass 💯 percent! I recently beat Halo infinite (best Halo game I've played since Halo 3). I'm currently working through Psychonauts 2 and having a blast! I'm considering playing through the dishonored series as it's something I've yet to experience. I'm looking forward to these games coming sometime in 2022; Redfall, Starfield, scorn, as dusk falls & stalker 2
Re: Xbox Game Pass March 2022 List: Coming Soon & Leaving Soon
@NeutronBomb I heard they are shutting down servers for the original Titanfall game but I believe Titanfall 2 maybe still be online for the foreseeable future. It's a shame because TF has stellar multiplayer that's far more accessible than Apex legends
