Re: Digital Foundry Questions The Need For Mid-Gen Console Upgrades

Master_Cthulhu70

If you look at how bad the chip shortage is combined with supply constraints I truly believe it'd be foolish for either company to release a "PRO" model. The only reason pro models worked last time was because BOTH companies already massive install bases and because by the time 2016/2017 rolled around 4K TV's had become increasingly cheaper.

The PS5 might as well be a golden unicorn, I've still never seen one on a store shelf. It took me 15 months to finally get my hands on one & the XSX wasn't much easier although I was able to get one much easier. Point being these consoles barely have an install base, these companies need to figure out how to get consoles into people's hands. Microsoft actually did smart by making a cheaper & easier to produce next gen system as it's the ONLY console I've actually seen in stores. My local Walmart, Target and BEST buy all had the Series S on store shelves. Producing pro models with more expensive components makes ZERO sense when Sony & a lesser extent Microsoft can't even mass produce their current flagship consoles. I think Sony and Microsoft need to focus on mass production of their current flagships and make sure that anyone who wants one can buy one from a secure legit source. My wife got tired of waiting for a PS5 so I asked if she'd be willing to try a series S I explained to her that since she doesn't play on a 4K display she didn't need the extra grunt of the PS5 or XSX and needless to say she's been so happy with her series S lol she hasn't touched her PS4 pro in months & now she's committed to the Xbox ecosystem. It just goes to show availability is everything, you can't sell consoles that aren't there. Happy gaming ✌️

Re: Xbox Working On New Update To Fully Fix Network Outage Issues

Master_Cthulhu70

@Nalverus the issue started for myself Friday afternoon. It effected myself, my wife and 3 of our closest friends. My wife and I love in the Pacific Northwest USA, 1 friend lives in southern California, Another in Alaska and the last in Florida so the outage was felt across the country. We couldn't play Fortnite, Rogue Company, Forza horizon 5, Halo infinite, Dying light 2 or any other game for that matter. Most frustrating was the fact that games I have purchased digitally wouldn't work offline at ALL! I couldn't play any of my purchased games which I honestly wasn't expecting because I thought Xbox fixed their DRM restrictions allowing players to play their purchased games offline. I truly hope this gets resolved ASAP because now I'm afraid if my WiFi ever goes out I won't even be able to play single player games offline.

Re: 10 Backwards Compatible Games Transformed By The Power Of Xbox Series S

@Beagle I'm also extremely impressed with my Xbox series S & TBH I wasn't expecting much from the little BEAST due to all the hate the console gets. I am so glad I gave the console a chance because it's performance is remarkable, playing Gears of War 3 at 1440p and 60fps makes it feel like a brand new game. I've also played a vast number of series X|S enhanced titles & I've ran comparisons to my one X and the major takeaway is yes some games run higher resolution on my one X but I genuinely prefer the series S and it's higher (more stable) frame rates. The series S also does a remarkable job upscaling most games to match my 43inch 120Hz 4K TV and I didn't think games would look as good as they do but the series S really knows how to make games shine! One of the biggest surprises for me has been the ability for the series S to run games at 120fps. I've played Fortnite, Forza horizon 5, COD Warzone, Doom eternal and Dirt 5 with 120fps & that's blown me away! Yes these games drop resolution to 1080p in order to hit that 120fps but what surprised me the most was how consistent the framerates were. I saw zero stuttering & enjoyed the games quite a bit at 120fps. If I was running my series S on my 27 inch monitor I think I'd use 120fps more often but on my 43inch TV I definitely prefer the 1440p 60fps as it gives the games that added clarity which is nice. I'm happy to see the Xbox series S getting love, it's a fine console & I can't wait to see what games come next 😁🎮✌️

Re: Soapbox: FPS Boost Is The Most Underrated Xbox Series X|S Feature

Master_Cthulhu70

I've been a fan of Xbox since the beginning. Got the OG Xbox the day it released, same with the Xbox 360 & Xbox one. That being said, after 6 months with the Xbox one I gave the console to my little brother & switched to PlayStation full time. Fast forward to January 2022 when I got the Xbox series S (first Xbox in 9 years) and I can honestly say it's been nothing but revolutionary for me. This tiny little box is an amazing powerhouse! I was under the impression that it was going to be a lackluster experience, I truly thought it's performance would be similar to PS4 pro. I'm so glad I was wrong, this thing is way faster than the PS4 pro thanks to it's amazing Zen 2 CPU

I'm looking forward to what's coming to gamepass 💯 percent! I recently beat Halo infinite (best Halo game I've played since Halo 3). I'm currently working through Psychonauts 2 and having a blast! I'm considering playing through the dishonored series as it's something I've yet to experience. I'm looking forward to these games coming sometime in 2022; Redfall, Starfield, scorn, as dusk falls & stalker 2
