Disappointed with two things. Space exploration which is basically a point&click fast travel simulator. Even with keeping this system it could be handled much better, I mean why I can't click on planet I am seeing in front of me to fast travel there but have to open the map and fast travel from there? I don't see a point in making 700 planets, maybe it would be better to place the game in one solar system with 2 or 3 habitable planets and dozen of moons with stations and similar on others?
Secondly, how locations feel too big, it's almost like it is an MMORPG. New Atlantis looks like a city from MMORPG especially. Think it would serve the game better if they lowered the scale but filled it with more condensed content. It looks like a step backwards similar to the one taken by Bethesda with Oblivion after Morrowind and then corrected by Skyrim. Here they gave us another Oblivion in that matter, too much randomly generated landscapes and areas.
@Echtzeit I agree with you to a degree. I wouldn't compare Series S to Switch because in the latter's case port to that console is totally different thing. It often requires much more work than to make, lets say a version of the game for PS5 and XSX. Often preparation of Switch version is transfered to different studio like in the case of Witcher III.
In the case of XSX and XSS I think there is a problem for developers to make a game which would look good and work well on both consoles even though they are considered the same platform. As I said I am not entirely sure on my theory since theoretically if Series S was holding Series X back, it would be more obvious to prepare 60fps on Series X which should handle lowered graphics made for Series S easier.
Maybe an answer to that is more prosaic, developers chose to make prettier game with 30fps than uglier games with 60fps. When they were making cross-platform games in the first years of PS5/XBX, it was easy to make them run in 60 fps on those platforms since they were prepared to run on PS4/X1.
Also probably we are looking too much into this at this stage because of Redfall, we should wait for further games. Skyrim wasn't released in the best technical state, who remembers PS3 memory leak? Maybe there is hope for later optimization and 60fps patch will come, as happened with Plague's Tale 2.
@Echtzeit I think maybe need to prepare a game for two consoles makes it difficult to optimize it in the best way. On the other hand if focus was on Series S, then theoretically it would be easier to make 60fps on Series X because graphics would be toned down to run on slower console. It's all strange tbf.
@NEStalgia I am using a standard phone and Gamesir X2 and it works great but only through my wifi of course so no chance to play on the go but even with Nintendo handhelds I never do that. I stopped using my Switch because of xCloud
@Wanderhope There is actually not that much here to learn it just look like that because of their interfaces althought I may be biased because of years of experience with their games. Console interface aren't helping as well and actually hides important information, like events decisions consequences
Controls are terrible compared to mouse and you aren't given every information you need at first glance compared to PC version. I would rather have an option to use controller stick like a mouse and have PC interface instead.
It is a very good game. Story, including some side quests are top notch. Things they are good at are good or at least decent but they failed due to lack of experience and overambition in other areas.
In Poland there are plenty of them in every electronics shops, no one wants to buy them. It may be because Xbox is not as popular in Poland as Playstation and also because maybe people don't want to buy inferior version of a console fearing it won't last long in terms of game performance and prefer Series X. I think if gamepass will be a success in long run when first party games will finialy release on regular basis, then will Series S succeed as second console for others. Think this is the main aim of Microsoft, to make it second console for Playstation owners.
There is a meltdown among non English speaking fans over language settings. You can't set English voice and Polish or other subtitles. In this way we have a mess in Polish version.
Polish audio and text in ME1
Polish audio and text in ME1 but with different actors and some DLC never released in Poland with English dub
English dub and Polish subs in Mass Effect 3
I am really disappointed and hope they will fix it and let us pick English voice and Polish subs. I don't know why they bothered with dubbing and expected them to scrap it at all. As always there must be something wrong with EA and Bioware, sad really.
@Alan_Payne I know this game, played it on PC long time ago around its premiere, and on PS2 few years ago, never finished though. I asked because there are some og Xbox games with boosts on One X or Series X and wanted to know if it is one of them.
They really want 30$ for this? Pretty sure its a price to gain some money from more dedicated fans because pretty soon it will be on constant sale for 5$
@Murray I am not sure but it's probably for those games which, wherever you buy them, you can play them in any platform they are available. So if you buy Halo Infinite, you can play it on PC and console, no need to buy twice.
Reading all this makes me realise how in current circumstances it was surreal to me to enter a shop in November and take one Series X from a shelf and just buy it.
Series X is my first Microsoft console so I guess there are dozens of people like me. I bought it for two reasons, Bethesda acquisition was first thing which made me consider it (my favourite studio), second and decisive, I tried game pass xcloud on phone.
I have high hopes for this game. May be naive but I still believe Bethesda can make best open world games but it may be due to the fact I skipped their Fallout games since I am not interested in post apo climate. Elder Scrolls is my favourite franchise but space games are enticing to me as well.
@Krzzystuff Well they have to release a decent game because if no one will play it, no one will buy dlc. But I can see games released in episodes like Final Fantasy VII Remake.
I just can't express how much I like Game Pass. I planned to buy Playstation 5 but Game Pass started to lure me. Buyout of Elder Scrolls makers finally turned me over.
But what is more important. Game Pass cured me from buying games on sales which I wouldn't even play or I will get disappointed in. I found myself to be pretty demanding gamer (maybe because of age? 32 years old) and many if not majority of purchases end as regret.
With Game Pass I can check the game and play it or uninstall it. This way since November when I bought Xbox Series X I installed and removed many games but at the same time finished few as well.
@Richnj Apart from technical issues and some questionable RPG mechanics (same as in Witcher 3...) this is a great game, fantastic plot, characters, world, music. Even with all these flaws this game is still better than most games released currently. It's failures exceed other's achievements in my honest opinion of course. I think that the biggest problem with this game is the fact that many people who bought it couldn't experience it due to technical issues on last gen consoles and are expressing their opinion about the game without playing it at all. Of course the fact it doesn't work on last gen consoles puts doubt about production process and its quality, because this game was in production even before PS4/X1 were released.
I launched RE1 on PS1 in 1999, 10 years old. When I saw THAT first zombie, I rushed to console and turned it off. Since then I was afraid of doors closed behind me for foreseeable future
Instead of expanding game pass internally, I would like them to expand externally and add game pass for Switch but I know it won't happen, not in Nintendo's interest to let in external company to their playground
@gollumb82 Morrowind is the best of them, Oblivion feels cluncky too but Morrowind has the best plot, atmosphere and really unique lore not found in any other fantasy game imho. Not sure if console is the best way to play it though
@NEStalgia It was already explained in cyberpunk literature of 20th century. Corporations provide new ways of selfidentification. In the past people were fighting for their tribe/city state/country and not neccessarily only on the battlefield. Now they are ready to fight, at least on social media, for corporation they identify with. It is plain to see that today we could see Xbox or Playstation or Nintendo 'patriots'.
