Riot Games has finally announced the name of its new 2v2 tag-based fighting game formerly known as Project L. From here on out, it will be officially known as "2XKO" and well, admittedly it's not gone down so well with the community.

It's coming to all major platforms including Xbox Series X|S in 2025. Right now though across social media, and sites like YouTube and Reddit, many fans are voicing their frustration over the title, with concerns about how it's pronounced and how it may translate across regions. Here's just a handful of reactions:

darklypure52 via Reddit: "This by far the worst name for a game I have seen. Especially for a fighting game where you want people to be able to say it."

@patrickbuhl1519 via YouTube: "Project L team, I have been insanely excited for this game to come out and want nothing but success from it. Ya'll gotta change the name. It's not too late. 2XKO is terrible and it's going to be a marketing nightmare."

@ThePoshPanda via YouTube: "Not gonna lie, the placeholder name is better. If you can't even know how to pronounce a name at a glance, idk, someone thought this up and someone approved it, and both were paid to do so."

Name concerns aside, Riot aims to have playtests underway before the end of this year, with anyone interested able to sign up to participate in these events via the official game website. The development team also plans to have "playable demos" available across the world this year, including at Evo Japan in April.

More details will be shared about what to expect soon and you can learn more in the latest update in the video below:
