Throughout the past year of Call of Duty content, we've seen complaints from some parts of the community about the more outlandish elements being added to the game(s) - the recent Beavis and Butt-Head crossover being one of them.

And, speaking in an August 2025 Community Update this week, the CoD team addressed this feedback, stating that they're taking it seriously and implementing a series of changes to Black Ops 7 in order to find a better balance.

One of the big changes that's being talked about is that Black Ops 6 Operators, Operator Skins and Weapons won't be coming over to Black Ops 7, although they'll obviously still remain usable in Warzone. The reason for this decision is to try and make Black Ops 7 feel more "authentic to Call of Duty and its setting".

"In Black Ops 7, bundles and items will be crafted to fit the Black Ops identity. We hear the feedback. We need to deliver a better balance toward the immersive, core Call of Duty experience."

Elaborating on this further, the team explained that the idea behind Black Ops 7 is to "deliver a spiritual successor to Black Ops 2 while taking some big swings", and that you'll see this across all of the game modes in BO7.

They also admitted that some fans say "we’ve drifted from what made Call of Duty unique in the first place", with those unique qualities said to revolve around being "immersive, intense, visceral and in many ways grounded". They say the feedback "hits home" and they're taking it seriously - so expect far less wackiness in Black Ops 7!

"That feedback hits home, and we take it seriously. We hear you."

Of course, a lot of this might have been brought on by Battlefield 6's recent success as well, with the open beta for that game going down a storm. It's going to be a hard-fought battle when both of these games arrive later this year.
