Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (June 7-8)

Started clair obscur yesterday. Pretty early on but loving it so far

Although I'm very tempted to buy Overture. Lies of P is probably the best game ive played in years (to me of course)

Picked up a Switch 2, so playing Mario kart World and Street Fighter 6 pretty much all weekend. Online MK World is brilliant. Also still getting through South of Midnight which I love. Happy gaming.

Hello there fellow gamers;
This weekend will be the first of many that I´ll be spending playing Switch 2. I absolutely love this system already, especialy how big and hi-res the screen is, and how it improves most Switch games performance and visuals.
All this to say I´ll be playing The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild, again, Switch 2 Edition this time around...... And some Mario Kart World;
And since Team Ninja decided to drop an Alpha demo of Ni-Oh 3, I´ll be playing that one as well on my Playstation5......
And then Lies of P Overture dlc droped as well, so I have to play that on my Xbox Series X
Also will be checking out all the gaming events of this week.
It´s not E3, but it kinda feels like it and I think it´s great.

Finished up the new dlc for Atomfall this morning. Its more Atomfall which is good but it really does feel like they ripped this out of the main game just to have a dlc to sell. 7/10

Will be making a start on Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition. Its good for me to play this again as its a timely reminder that I don't need cutting edge high fidelity visuals to enjoy a game.

Give me an intriguing story, exploration plus a decent sense of progression & I am good to go. Having a miniature giant space hamster helps too, GO FOR THE EYES BOO!

On PS5 I will probably finish up with Destiny 2 The Final Shape. It was ok but yeah it hasn't blown my socks off and glad I waited for it to come to PS Plus rather than buy it.

Oooh!! I just started Final Fantasy XIII!!! I’ve always wanted to try it and physical copies are like $6

So far it’s okay… I know the complaint is how linear it is, but I think what will turn me off (if anything) is some of the characters. I like Lighting and Sazh, but Hope and Snow are… not… good 😬

After picking up the Imperial Edition of Darktide last week, I'll be sinking some more time into that, and some Star Wars Outlaws, maybe some Skull and Bones as it's a double renown weekend as well

This week I managed to finish Pipistrello and the Cursed Yoyo. It is a game that never outstayed its welcome, and its Metroidvania and Zelda-like qualities were incredibly well done. It took me about 17 hours, with completion rate of 78%. I feel quite satiated with my experience.

Subsequently, I was perusing my back catalog of games and saw Sea of Stars. I then realized Sabotage Studios released their hefty free expansion/DLC, Throes of the Watchmaker a week or so ago, and I decided to redownload the game.

I have beaten it before, but I noticed I missed a ton of optional content. Once I booted the game back up, I was immediately drawn back into this gorgeous world, almost without missing a beat. Within a couple of hours I mopped up all side bosses and collectibles, and even got the platinum trophy for it.

It is truly an outstanding retro-inspired JRPG. And, having not played it since release, all of the patches and updates have made it an even more enjoyable experience; it is more streamlined, in a positive way. As of right now, I’m a couple of hours in the DLC and it’s been sublime. I’m really looking forward to the new classes, abilities, and story.

I’m not sure what I want to play next. I have my eye on two games: MindsEye (I honestly think it looks solid despite the hooblah) and Blades of Fire. I’m not looking for anything special - just a simple spray and pray or hack and slash. Really, I’m just biding my time until Death Stranding 2 releases.

Either keep going with playthrough 2 of Epedition 33, but I might finally start FFXII again. Maybe we'll get some new shadow drops tomorrow as well. Exciting weekend for sure! Can't wait for the Xbox Showcase!

@FatGuyInLilCoat So jealous. I'm on New Game+. I'd love to experience Expedition 33 from scratch again. Such an amazing game. Have a blast and take your time.

Crypt custodian on gamepass. It has been great so far.

Also have a replay of wolfenstein old blood going and playing a bunch of civ 7 and halo infinite.

I'll be on expedition 33 getting close to the end now I'll keep on going with it I'll also be on doom dark ages really great game such fun to play and looks great!!

This weekend I'm gonna be playing Final Fantasy VI, Freedom Wars Remastered and possibly GTA San Andreas(first proper playthrough) on Switch and on Xbox I will play the Marvel vs. Capcom collection as a way to re-introduce myself to fighting games for real aswell as maybe some more Hollow Knight.
Tomorrow I got friends coming over for a birthday celebration so I guess we will primarily play Smash Bros. Ultimate and other 4-player games.

That's kinda all since I don't really feel like trying to beat the nightmare that is Trokka in The First Berserker.

Still holding off on getting Tainted Grail until they patch it up (mostly for regions 2 and 3). Can't believe nobody has posted about playing it here since release.

Continuing to explore Skellige in Witcher 3 whilst revisiting Avowed to check out some Uniques and scratch that party combat itch.

Its been mostly Doom - The Dark Ages for me this last week. I’m a couple of chapters from the end and I’m enjoying it. Its good old fast paced action fun with some great level design. The shield is a fun addition, however I do feel it gets a bit to arcadey with different colored attacks for deflecting etc but its a minor complaint. Also, rest assured that even if you find yourself in the belly of the Beast, you’ll find Sentinel Shrines there so you can upgrade your gear. A bit less of that sort of thing would have been better imo. But all in all, very fun 🙂

At the start of the week I finally caved and bought Fantasy Life I The Girl who steals time, which I’m now addicted to 😂 I’ve now unlocked all starting ‘lives’ and got them all up to fledgling status and have just reached the next area, Ginormosia. I can see this game devouring a lot of my free time!
Also playing some Roadcraft. Have 100% completed first two maps, and am now on third map, incommunicado.

@gravelmonkey i am playing tainted grail but not over this weekend so I didnt mention it. Its still a bit rough so waiting on more patches is a wise choice. Performance aside its a fantastic rpg though.

Currently playing Crash 1-3 in preparation for Crash 4. Also downloaded Resi 2 and 3 to run through again.

I've been playing quite a few things at the same time.
Knights of Pen and Paper +1 Deluxe Edition.
Section 13.
Nerd Survivors.
Prototype.
Dread Nautical.
And even tried ZZZ which I think was pretty cool.

Will try to finish Knights of Pen and Paper, hoping I don't have to grind too much.

@FarmDog08 yeah I'm loving it so far. Only in Act 1 but I'm going to savor every moment. I can tell this when will have its claws in me for a bit

Currently trying to play the monthly 10 games to get my reward points… for my main game it will be Kulebra and then watch the show tomorrow as it is my highlight of the year …. Nothing really touches it show wise … see you in the chat!

Monster Hunter Wilds, Street Fighter 6, Fatal Fury COTW, WWE 2K25, Stellar Blade, Disney Dreamlight Valley, and Capcom Fighting Game Collection 2. Ok, I probably won’t be able to squeeze in all of those games but those are the ones I want to jump into at least.

I’ve been giving my PS5 at bit of love and replayed Last of Us 2 after watching the recent TV series. Still an all-timer, although I’m pretty familiar with it now. Might try and make inroads into my Game Pass backlog tomorrow with Atomfall, but I’ll see how I feel tomorrow.

Hoping to start Rise of the Tomb Raider, and maybe go back to Final Fantasy XV.

@TapeLoader Loved the Grimrock games, the first one really brought blobbers back after a very long hiatus, sort of like PoE did for isometric crpgs. The first Wizardry got remade and I really want to find time to play it. It inspired pretty much every RPG that's come since, even JRPGs, Yujo Horii himself has said so. Deserves way more recognition. Tangent over

@Jenkinss How is nightreign to play are you playing co-op much or solo??
I haven't bought it yet but I played the beta and found it tough to find a decent team to complete the 3 nights hopefully it's better in the full game!

@Ricky-Spanish when I play solo my ceiling is getting to the last boss. I'm just not great at souls games despite so many hours in the Dark Souls series and Elden Ring, and lots of others like LotF and Remnant. I get through them through patience and sheer force of will, not skill.

I've beaten 3 night lords now in co-op with randoms playing ironeye. I'm still learning what to be targeting, how fast I need to be moving, etc. I do find the average skill in this 100x higher than the beta. It's all people who plunked down money for the game, not an open beta. Everyone is at least a little serious. You still run into s***ers but less frequently.

Most of my gaming is co-op with my wife or my friends, but I couldn't get any of them to bite on this with me despite several of them including my wife having beaten Elden Ring. I would definitely be a diff experience on a mic with people I know.

I'm pretty addicted to it.

Prince of Persia (2008) is one of my favourite games of the Xbox 360/PS3 era. I beat the game 100% and got the Platinum trophy because I was enjoying the game that much.
The pure joy of traversing in that game with the gorgeus visuals and beautiful score by Inon Zur was like bliss.
And the twist at the end makes it even better.
I´m also one of the weird ones that actualy likes Final Fantasy XIII. As for the characters Hope and Snow, yeah it takes a while to warm up to them for sure. But it does get better.
And the OST by Masashi Hamauzu is one of my absolute favourites. Banger of a soundtrack.

@Jenkinss Thanks for the info buddy I'm still in two minds about buying it I know I'll enjoy it but with my kids I rarely can sit down for more than a half hour without having getting up for some reason to sort something so it would probably be more stressful than fun for me to play a full 3 days🤷 I'll probably have to pass on it because of that because I'd end up throwing them out the window through stress haha

Well here we go with another absolutely amazing WAYP. This one is special as this WAYP is quite literally being written on my birthday. Received some genuinely amazing and touching gifts with a massive shoutout to my girlfriend Catalina and her gifts of the Dawntrail artbook and that one SF2 book written by that one Polygon guy I believe? Genuinely don’t deserve such a beautiful and amazing girlfriend like her. Been absent the past couple of WAYPs enjoying long weekends with her actually. The week was some amazing games all around. Mostly Mario and Luigi, Pirate Yakuza, WWE2K25, Clair Obscur Expedition 33, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Donkey Kong Country Returns HD, Xenoblade Chronicles X Definitive Edition, Atelier Yumia, Fatal Fury City of the Wolves and Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake. Most of the weekend was spent with nothing actually just celebrating the birthday ya know? Rest of the weekend I’m thinking is gonna be some Mario Kart World. Yes I got a Switch 2 as well as MK and Bravely Default HD and Welcome Tour and 100 Line and so so much more like upgrades for the Zeldas. Got all the new amiibos too. Got to play some Mario Kart with my GF and honestly it’s beautiful it’s amazing it’s just the best. She even beat me once or twice and it’s just amazing. Otherwise I’m thinking this week is mostly gonna consist of some Mario and Luigi Brothership, Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake, Tales of Graces F Remastered, Split Fiction, Atelier Yumia, Fatal Fury City of the Wolves, Xenoblade Chronicles X Definitive Edition, WWE2K25, Clair Obscur, Indiana Jones, 100 Line, Bravely Default and so much more for that Switch 2 and Pirate Yakuza. Let’s be legit I’m gonna dote over this Switch like a new child. I’ll even go back and play TOTK as a Switch 2 edition. The wrestling thing this week being Money in the Bank. It was awesome. A great time with my GF. Good choices for Money in the Bank winners Naomi and Seth Rollins. Excellent match with Becky Lynch Vs Lyra Valkyria and the John Cena/ Logan Paul and Cody Rhodes/Jey Uso Tag Match. Just overall great time man. Anime of the week gotta go to My Hero Academia Vigilantes, Guilty Gear Strive Dual Riders, Gundam Gquuuuuux, Let’s go to the Ballpark, Kowloon and Sakamoto Days. Those gotta be my spring picks with special shoutout to Vigilantes it’s kinda peak. Podcasts of this week gotta go to Castle Superbeast, Big Think Dimension, Into The Aether, RPGsites Tetracast, Minnmax, Jeff Gerstmann, Kit and Krysta, Punching Up, Easy Allies, Second Wind, Nextlander, Cultaholic Wrestling, Weapon Wheel Podcast, Let’s Anime and Remap Radio.
