There were a lot of huge upcoming games that didn't get a spot at the Xbox Games Showcase 2025 for whatever reason, and one of those was Gears of War: E-Day - which is currently set for a release at some point next year.
Its absence certainly didn't go unnoticed, and speaking in a follow-up interview on the Official Xbox Podcast this week, a couple of members of the development team had the following to say about what's going on with E-Day:
"It's going well, still in development so I can't share a lot about E-Day right now. We'll certainly have more to share in the future. We're super passionate about E-Day, we had a great reception last year when we announced the game at the Xbox Showcase, the whole team felt the love from the Gears of War community when that trailer aired."
"We're super excited to bring it to market. Watch this space, there will be a lot more to come on E-Day."
Of course, there's probably a good reason for E-Day's absence at the Xbox Games Showcase 2025 - we're getting Gears of War: Reloaded very soon, and The Coalition won't want to take the shine off its release over the next few months.
It's been rumoured a few times that E-Day was potentially targeting a 2025 release at one point, so it's probably further ahead than they're letting on here, and let's hope it might appear at either Gamescom or the annual Xbox Developer Direct event set for January 2026.
