Re: Microsoft CEO Comments On Recent Xbox Layoffs, Doubles Down On AI

JayJ

@FatGuyInLilCoat Yup same here. I was still a big fan of Xbox back when this gen started and I was even a big fan of Windows throughout the Windows 10 years, but their decisions over the past year at Xbox and Windows 11 in general have really turned me off Microsoft. It doesn't seem like I am going to buy a new release game on my Series X ever again, and I recently went back to Apple computers after not buying their computers for over a decade.

Microsoft just seems completely tone deaf and like they are not even trying to give me any reasons to stick with any of their platforms anymore. They are all about trying to force subscriptions and AI features that I don't want and while that might help drive investors it's been driving me away as a customer.

Re: Nacon Commits To Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown With Extensive Year 2 Roadmap

JayJ

I actually really liked this game. Big fan of the original two TDU games, still play them on occasion, and this new one isn't quite as deep, lacking the buy a home feature and driving out to businesses for clothing and customization, but I have been really enjoying it. Feels a lot more grounded than The Crew Motorfest which just seems to constantly throw online/gaming stuff at you as your driving around. In this it's just more immersive to drive around and explore.

Re: Ready Or Not & Holdfast: Nations At War Are Dominating The 'Top Paid' Xbox Charts

JayJ

This seems to be showing off the downfall of AAA gaming as well as the rise of AA games and studios. Been saying it for a long time now, AA is basically the new AAA and today's AA studios remind me of the way many big AAA studios were back in their 90's and 00's glory days.

For me I pre-ordered Ready or Not because it's basically the proper tactical shooter that I have been begging for studios to make for over a decade that nobody was willing to make apparently until now. Heck it's been longer than that, much longer. Last great games like this that I can think of were Rainbow Six Vegas 2 and SWAT 4, with Vegas dating back to 08 and SWAT dating back to 05. Crazy how it's been two decades.

Re: Xbox Founding Member 'Not Pleased' With State Of The Brand In 2025

JayJ

Xbox really dropped a bomb when they did their hardware price hike. To me that signaled the company no longer even trying to really be competitive anymore. I mean a Series X can now cost more than a PS5 Pro despite being older and inferior hardware with equivalent storage capacity. The Series S just no longer makes any sense to me, while I thought it was a great little console before and I got one and bought an xscreen for it. Right now, Xbox in it's current state, and no longer having much in the way of exclusives, I don't think I would bother with it.

Re: Reminder: The Xbox 360 Is Surprisingly Decent For Backwards Compatibility

JayJ

Yeah the 360 truly became my console of choice when it comes to something older. Graphics hold up well on modern TV's, especially if you have the later models with HDMI, and the backwards compatibility is fantastic if you have a collection of old 360 and original Xbox games. I used to love the PS3 but it feels like it really aged poorly by comparison.

Re: Talking Point: Have This Month's Announcements Made You Excited About Xbox Again?

JayJ

@VeganHerpes Yeah that's where I'm at for next gen, I plan on just going with a new gaming PC and sticking to that because I am tired of all the forced and overpriced subscriptions as well as all the nonsense with the present day industry. Why stick to consoles when they become more PC like? Might as well just get a PC where I can have the freedom to run whatever OS I choose, play games online without needing a subscription, and freely upgrade the hardware whenever and however I like.

To me the appeal of consoles feels like it's mostly been lost by this point, especially when it comes to Xbox. I liked the simplicity and enhanced access to all my backlog, but the consoles I already have seem to give me all the backlog access I could want and as far as I can tell no consoles besides the Switch 2 are going to have much in the way of exclusives.

Re: Xbox Announces Next-Gen Console Strategy, Promises 'Deeper Visuals' & Backwards Compatibility

JayJ

@Netret0120 Yeah I have no idea why they would be trying to rush into a next gen so soon when most new AAA releases are still being sold as "crossgen" titles. Heck they still had some big releases this year exclusive to last-gen consoles, Capcom Fighting Collection 2 comes to mind. That and any real big releases seem to take years and years to develop, it's why this gen has been feeling like it's just sort of started to get somewhere. I just really have no desire to be getting into a next generation of consoles right now. Heck this gen has been real heavy on the remasters and remakes anyways, I have a hard time seeing a next gen having anything significant going for it for a long time.

Re: Xbox Announces Next-Gen Console Strategy, Promises 'Deeper Visuals' & Backwards Compatibility

JayJ

Thing is I am not really sure why I would even want a next gen Xbox by this point. Microsoft seems to be determined to release all of their games on Playstation and the Series X as well as the Xbox One has already had all of the backwards compatibility I could want that they seem to be willing to deliver. I just don't see the selling point for getting a next gen device from them. What are they going to sell it to me with, Gamepass? That's not good enough to sell me on an entire console.

Re: Talking Point: Would You Like To See A New Type Of Forza Game In 2026?

JayJ

@Jenkinss Yeah I would like to see a Forza Horizon more like the first two with street racing meetup spots, car meet locations, and more of a proper focus on just racing around the map against some rivals. In fact I think they could do away with the whole "festival" theme entirely, it just feels so unnecessary by now.

Re: Talking Point: Would You Like To See A New Type Of Forza Game In 2026?

JayJ

Forza Motorsport feels cooked after the live services "reboot" or whatever you could call it. They had a great opportunity to create a more classic and offline playable alternative to GT7 and instead they made something even more online dependent that just isn't nearly as good in any way. Now I honestly couldn't care less about the games, I have moved on to other games for what Forza Motorsport games used to deliver. Sad because it was such a great franchise but I no longer have any faith in Turn 10, it just isn't the developer it once was.

Re: 'Subscription Price Increase' Tag Reportedly Added To Xbox Cloud Gaming Website

JayJ

@TapeLoader Yeah I had a similar issue of just not getting enough out of most Gamepass games, or subscription games in general really. I got a lot of games that I like so these subscription games are usually passive interests I just play here and there. As I've gotten older a year just seems to go by pretty fast and the value just doesn't seem to be there anymore.

Re: Opinion: It Feels Like Microsoft Is Planning A Huge Final Year Of Xbox Series X|S In 2026

JayJ

@Fishysensei Yeah the PS5 Pro just released less than a year ago and it's got games that are capable of being played in 8k. That and console generations have been improving less and less it seems, like going from my One X to Series X was a notable improvement but mostly due to storage improvements, not that big when it comes to graphics, the One X was capable of some pretty impressive results especially for it's time. That and games take forever to develop now a days as well, even if they released next gen consoles soon I bet it would take years for there to be much in the way of games to take advantage of them. Heck loads of new games for this current gen are STILL being released as cross-gen titles with previous-gen compatibility. That and there is still some notable releases as of recent exclusive to last gen, such as Capcom Fighting Collection 2 for example. I just don't see the point in going for a next gen anytime soon.
