Were you a fan of the Nintendo 64 game Snowboard Kids back in the day? How about the SSX series?

If so, you might be interested in a new indie game that's released on Xbox this week called Slopecrashers, which is described by its solo developer as being "kind of my spiritual successor" - while also adding in plenty of its own ideas.

In Slopecrashers, you get to pick from a "chaotic cast of customizable animal riders" as you compete in arcade races with a next-gen physics engine. There are 20 diverse tracks, a campaign featuring over 120 events with side objectives, a range of game modes, a bunch of unlockables, and both local and online multiplayer capabilities.

In fact, the developer outlined a bunch of this on Reddit earlier this week:

You can see how all this looks in the trailer above, and although the Xbox version doesn't have many reviews on the Microsoft Store yet, it's got a "Very Positive" rating on Steam based on the 77 people who have given their impressions.

Oh, and if you're wondering if it has the chairlift from Snowboard Kids... it apparently does!

We're definitely going to be checking out Slopecrashers, which is available now for Xbox One (and playable on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S) at a price of $14.99 / $17.49. We'll leave some more details and screenshots below.

"Jump into easy-to-play, exhilarating-to-master snowboarding mayhem with a chaotic cast of customizable animal riders. Inspired by arcade racing classics but powered by a next-gen physics engine, Slopecrashers takes racing, stunts, and combos to the extreme. Grab your board—or maybe a frying pan—and carve through 20 diverse tracks in snow, sand, or cyberpunk skylines!"
