Re: Xbox & PlayStation Face 'Significant Risk' With Their Next Consoles, Predicts Research Firm

JayJ

Honestly I think this will be the last generation I will really care to be a part of. I haven't been happy with the direction the industry has been headed in for about the past decade and this gen has just been a joke, both Sony and Microsoft can't seem to produce anything in the way of exclusives I could care about, and I can't think of anything outside of Nintendo that appeals to me that I can't get on PC.

Re: Sony's New $320M 'Alliance' Has Left Xbox Fans Breathing A Sigh Of Relief

JayJ

@JustinTimberlake Never been a fan of their hardcore difficulty-only approach. The whole "git gud skill issue" thing just doesn't do anything for me. I don't care if I'm good at their games or not, because they never really grab my interest. Worlds are just boring IMO, no real life to them, you just have to kill everything you come across. Difficult boss fighting just isn't my thing either, never liked the repetition and having to slowly hack away at something. I just won't touch anything they make anymore and I won't trust any praise for their games either. One of those developers that has a strong fanboy backing by hardcore gamers so they really get pushed on people on gaming sites and their fans can get really aggressive about their games.

Re: Microsoft CEO: 'We Are Redefining What It Means To Be An Xbox Fan'

JayJ

Been saying it for a long time, people need to get over this old primitive concept of consoles being these standout stand-alone platforms. Xbox is truly becoming the PC of consoles in a sense where it's not trying to be restricted to one hardware maker or a specific console. I think this could end up being the biggest advantage for Xbox, it's just going to be a far more open, accessible, and standardized means to playing video games.

Re: Soapbox: Paying Tribute To The Best Map In Forza Horizon History

JayJ

Very cool article, I do love the FH4 map and the game is still one of the best games ever made IMO and exactly the sort of thing that has kept me interested in video games all these days.

One thing I really loved about FH4 was the seasons, each season feeling and looking very distinctive. In FH5 the seasons mean little more than just "raining more often" and the occasional rain/sand storm.

Re: It Might Be Old, But The Xbox 360 Is Still An Amazing Console In 2024

JayJ

I think the 360 aged spectacularly well. Games still look good, far better than PS1/2 these days, and it's 1080p output can still look great on a modern 4K display. That and everything besides the launch consoles has HDMI support. It's crazy how current it can still feel for something nearly 20 years old.

Re: Sony's Next Acquisition Could Have A Big Impact On Future Xbox Releases

JayJ

@Dalamar73 How am I trolling? I would advise you to learn how to cope with contrary opinions. They're just video games. People should be free to express their opinions on them. It's fine if you're a fan of whatever you like, but don't expect everyone to side with you. It shouldn't be considered some sort of offense to simply express discontent. These comment sections aren't supposed to be an echo chamber. The entire purpose of them is to allow the public to express their opinion on the article's subject matter. Who says they must contribute to your preferred discussion within it as you see fit?

Re: Flight Simulator 2024 Developer Issues 'Sincere' Apology Following Turbulent Release

JayJ

This is one of the main reasons I want to stick with the previous release. It seems like it's capable of actually running on it's own, while 24 is basically entirely dependent upon it's online services.

That and I don't have the best internet service as it is, in fact I'd say it's very mediocre at best, so I never liked the concept of having to stream something this sophisticated.

Re: Review: Death Stranding Director's Cut - Kojima's Masterpiece Is Finally Delivered (In Perfect Condition) To Xbox Consoles

JayJ

Oh wow, another PJ review I highly disagree with. I thought this game was incredibly overrated and overhyped back when it first released and I bought it just because it was so hyped. When I played the game again on my PS5 with the director's cut upgrade I was like "yeah, this is the same awful game only slightly better graphics." I mean I guess some people love it apparently, and good for them, but it's totally not for everyone.

Re: Here's How Death Stranding Director's Cut Compares On Xbox Series X And S

JayJ

@burntends I was very impressed by how good a lot of games ran and looked on my Series S. Lots of FPS boost support as well. Only thing it's missing is X enhancement support and there's a few FPS boost games that will only run enhanced on a Series X, but outside of that it's quite impressive. Very cool for a smaller, cheaper, lower power console that I got setup with an attached flip-lid monitor. Out of all the XS games I played only a few seemed to struggle on the S, and even then it wasn't bad.

Re: Forza Motorsport Adds 'Next-Gen NASCAR' In Latest Xbox Update

JayJ

@Blofse Been the same way for me really and I blame the general feel of this entry. Past Forza titles were the type of thing I could play forever because they just had so much depth to them as someone who enjoys building and tuning my ideal versions of cars. With this latest entry it's like so much of the experience has been compromised around making it an online focused live services experience, and if you're not into that it's just lacks anything to do really besides doing hot laps with cars. I mean for me the solo career was over rather quickly and then it's just the occasional monthly special series that feels more like a chore for me than something I want to do. Then I'll play something like World of Outlaws Dirt Racing 24 and be reminded of what a real racing career should feel like.

It's like they got it all wrong with this latest Forza Motorsport. Pre-race practice feels mostly pointless, there is still no real qualifying, and you have nothing to do with the majority of the cars you can acquire, like there is no championship series or anything outside of what you can setup as a free-race. Even take GT7 for example, there's loads of races and series for all kinds of cars, some simulating longer endurance racing with pit stops, something that Forza completely failed to capture.

Re: Black Ops 6 Includes A Paid Option For Better Audio, But It's Not As Bad As It Seems

JayJ

@ZYDIO Yeah, I have heavily lost interest in keeping up with the latest in gaming this gen. Most AAA games just feel like cash grabs or fail to catch my interest, the industry just keeps trying to make everything more dependent upon online services and fees, advancements to graphics and technology are no longer impressing me, I could go on. It's just not the scene it was when I was getting into it back in the 90's and 00's. Seems like a lot of the passion is gone and there is just too much BS getting in the way of being able to simply play a video game and enjoy myself. I honestly feel like this is the last console gen I really want to be a part of. Will probably just build a good gaming PC eventually when I am ready to move on from today's consoles. Heck neither Xbox nor Sony have much in the way of truly exclusive games that really grab my interest anymore anyways.

I have already taken my old Xbox One's offline and recently took a Series S with an xScreen offline as well. Loaded them up with my digital library of games so I can just play whatever without having to worry about any online services or nonsense. When they took down the 360 marketplace this year it got me to get back into that console and I found it amazing not only how well the games have aged but how much more fun they can be compared to today's games.

Re: Dead Island 2 Gets 'Brutal' Horde Mode & New Game Plus On Xbox Game Pass

JayJ

I was pretty underwhelmed by this game to be honest, flesh damage system was just a gimmick that I stopped noticing or caring about after a few hours and the way zombies just keep respawning sort of ruined the feel of making your way through areas for me. That and it's sort of a fake open world, you basically just have different areas that you need to progress through in a rather linear fashion.
