Talking Point: It's Been A Year Since Microsoft Closed The Xbox 360 Store

Can you believe that it's been more than a year since Microsoft shut down the old Xbox 360 store? Well, you better believe it! Yep, Team Green closed the curtains on the Xbox 360 storefront on July 29th, 2024; just over a year ago now as we look back here in 2025.

We must admit, we do miss the 360 days quite a lot. OK, the final dashboard / storefront that Microsoft went with that generation wasn't our absolute favourite (Blades or NXE over here, depending on which PX staffer you ask), but we were still very sad to see the storefront disappear last summer.

Of course, Microsoft has done stellar work in recent years getting as much of that older content onto the modern Xbox store - lots of Xbox 360 content lives and breathes over there now with the help of backwards compatibility. The newer Xbox storefront is also much easier to navigate these days - it was a bit of a mess finding things towards the end on the old 360 store there.

Despite the team's best efforts though, plenty of old Xbox content has now disappeared into the ether, taken away from us by the closure of the 360 storefront. We'll always cling onto those physical games where we can — and the memories of course — but yeah, we just wanted to mark a year or so since one of the most significant closures in Xbox history. It had a pretty good run!
