Re: Xbox President Talks Positive & Resistant Feedback From Fans, How It's Shaping The Future

@xboxjapanfan I think I will always call the Xbox One the most underrated and unfairly hated console of all time. Helps how I also consider the PS4 one of the most overrated consoles of all time, not that I don't like it, just that I think it was held up as something far greater than I ever thought of it as. Always loved the Xbox One's focus on backwards compatibility and it's HDMI pass-through, a unique feature for consoles I wish became standard.

Re: Halo Infinite's Final Major Content Update Has Arrived On Xbox & PC

JayJ

Infinite has easily been the worst Halo. I didn't even bother buying it, the only Halo game I don't own, played it on Game Pass while I had a subscription and the campaign just didn't do anything for me. Multiplayer scene couldn't appeal to me either. Not surprised it's been somewhat of a failure, I don't even care about this franchise anymore. Sticking to MCC as the go-to for Halo if I am ever in the mood.

Re: Xbox President Talks Positive & Resistant Feedback From Fans, How It's Shaping The Future

@xboxjapanfan Yeah that has basically been my experience as well. I always felt like I was one of the few who genuinely preferred the Xbox One over the PS4, I had fun messing around with Kinect on both Xbox 360 and One, and I found the games Xbox was making to be genuinely appealing.

Feels like that all took a sharp nosedive this gen. I just don't like anything about the direction Xbox has gone in over the past few years, and even their games simply don't appeal to me at all anymore either. Same deal, they just feel far too politically influenced, like they are constantly trying to lecture me on the ideals of the dev team as opposed to giving me a truly immersive experience.

I just can't have any enthusiasm for this brand anymore, they are no longer doing anything that I find appealing and the management is clearly tone deaf.

Re: Xbox Boss Phil Spencer Shares His Thoughts On Valve's New 'Steam Machine'

JayJ

@Gabrie Yeah it's true. I honestly believe my PS5 Pro will be the last traditional home console I will have. I will keep with Nintendo's Switch as it's a hybrid and I love their approach to handheld gaming, but going forward I just don't see myself wanting to stay with Sony or Microsoft next gen. Steam is just so much better right now it's crazy, they are so much more attractive when it comes to customer service and open platform access, not to mention online service.

Re: Sony Exec Suggests PS5 Is Far From Finished, And It's Likely The Same For Xbox Series X|S

JayJ

@Raffles Yeah I feel like the obsession with lighting and effects can become a real issue when it comes to performance optimization these days. I can go back to older games and with a high resolution and fast frame rate they can look just as good if not better in action compared to some of these latest games. It almost feels like devs are scrambling for a "wow" factor for screen shots and these games just never look that good while playing with the frame rate hit.

Re: Sony Exec Suggests PS5 Is Far From Finished, And It's Likely The Same For Xbox Series X|S

JayJ

@You-come-to-me Yeah I really don't see the need for new consoles right now when the PS5 Pro is still relatively new and AAA games take so many years to release. It's like IMO this gen only relatively recently started getting good, heck PS5 Pro enhanced games are still a thing that only the latest and greatest releases seems to really support. I just can't see where all this desire for newer better more expensive hardware is coming from. Gains have never been harder to spot as well, seems like smooth 60fps became far more of a target than higher resolution/fancier graphics, where we only seem to be making "spot the difference" gains.

For once I simply have no desire for a next gen, especially right now.

Re: Is Xbox Down? Huge Azure Server Outage Causes Issues Across Microsoft Services

JayJ

I just tried going to xbox.com to check on something and it was refusing to load. Thought it was my ad blocker acting up but no, deleted the site cookies as well, nope, tried a different browser and accessing microsoft.com, still no go. Then I see how everyone else is complaining.

Microsoft just can't stop stacking L's lately it seems.

Re: Three Very Intriguing Racing Games Are Coming To Xbox This November

JayJ

@Fiendish-Beaver Yeah I see Rennsport as more of a community driven tool sort of game, I am sure the community content is going to be what makes it, but that will take some time to really develop. Project Motor Racing seems like more of the latest Project Cars 2 or Assetto Corsa Competizione sort of game.

Re: The Crew 2 Will Now Be Playable 'For Years To Come' As Ubisoft Adds Offline Mode

JayJ

Wow they did it, they actually followed through with doing something good for once. I am both astonished and pleased as I have been a fan of The Crew but always frustrated with the always-online requirements. That practice needs to come to an end, so many games that demand that don't seem to have any real need for it. Most of the time I would be fine with playing the games offline or even prefer them offline so I don't have to deal with other people and can just play the game in peace.

The Crew was always one of those games, seemed like most online interactions I had were obnoxious and took away from the immersion.

Re: Roundup: Here's What The First Reviews Are Saying About NASCAR 25

JayJ

Glad to see Nascar games back. Heat 4 was actually a surprisingly good game, made by the same people who make the World of Outlaws Dirt Racing games (excellent racing games for oval track). That said Heat 5 was a decline, and Nascar 21 Ignition is no joke one of the worst games I have ever played, just incredibly bad for what it should have been. Glad Motorsport Games is no longer around, that was just an awful studio. Excited to see iRacing take this over.
