I'm thinking they'll start with something like Senua or State of Decay 3, possibly some Everwild footage, then lots of Gamepass additons. Highly doubt we'll see any Perfect Dark as that appears to be in development hell with the loss of so many staff and the Director. I'd be very surprised if we see anything on Fable as I suspect it's still too early in the development cycle. Hopefully we'll see Obsidian's new games in action, possibly some Halo Infiinte & Sea of Thieves additons. Then thrid party wise, maybe Dead Space, Diablo 4, Gotham Knights & Overwatch 2
@ChopperCampbell Amnesia: The Dark Descent is fantastic, as is Soma - wonderful sense of dread & isolation. I wouldn't really bother with Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs. Whilst it's not a terrible game, it's 95% slightly spooky walking simulator - it's not made by the same developers, so it fails to capture the original game's atmosphere.
Pong was my first too with both parents and grand parents on the dedicated Atari console in the late 80s. It wasn't long after that we got a C64 and we were playing Flimbo's Quest & Fiendish Freddy's Big Top o' Fun.
To echo the concerns of other players here, 2 maps isn't going to cut it. I would be quite happy if they threw in a few classic maps from previous games, just to pad it out a little more until Forge drops.
Would be interested to know if respawn points is an issue for other people... I've lost count how many times I've respawned to find an enemy in front of me with an instant kill. Super frustrating.
I'm still having fun with it, but there are definitely some issues...
Some of the maps have already began to feel a little stale. Respawn points are a joke, resulting in near instant deaths.
Weapon balancing still needs to be addressed. The Ravager and Sentinel Beam are garbage.
The weekly challenges become a grind & divert focus away from having fun to doing a checklist of mundane chores.
Shop items are still way overpriced.
Progression system is slow.
Forge will save this title - as usual, once the tools are in the hands of the community, there will be an abundance of goods maps & modes, but until then it's rather weak & still has me wanting to return to Halo 5.
It would have been nice to get the MK11 Ultimate Edition version, but can't really complain ^_^ Record of Lodoss War Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth has been on my radar for some time, so I'm super happy to try this on GP.
As it disconnects you from the server, I just quit the app & reloaded anyway, so no big issue. If they could, it might be advisable to patch out the quick resume all together until a remedy has been found. The developers should be focusing on winding down for the Holiday season now though, they need a break!
They can put as much garnish on as they like, but they will never rid themselves of the debacle that was the rushed launch. I feel sorry for all hard working developers who have clearly put a lot of their heart and soul into making this game. I'm not booting it up again until they've done the polishing, but this should have stayed in the oven a good 12-18 months more.
I would have much preferred a model like Halo 5's unlocks, where you can earn cosmetics etc from play rather than everything locked behind paywalls. Sure, the option to unlock stuff quicker with money can stay, but as it stands I'm caring less & less about the challenges etc & I just want to enjoy the game.
With that said, I'm confident 343 will tweak to balance things out. I'm more interested in what Forge will bring to the table so we can play community maps & modes, which will divert the focus from the Battle Pass stuff.
I assume this was a server side update, rather than a downloadable patch? I saw the 50xp per match droppped last night, so I'm guessing this was implemented then.
It's a good start, but I would like to see XP rewards for contribution to a match. For example, small XP rewards for medals, placement in the scoretable, win bonuses etc. Reading on Reddit some people were playing long, drawnout matches in BTB, only to result in a draw and everyone only getting 100xp as they hadn't fullfilled any Weekly Challenges, yet they had a high medal count / KDR.
Spoiler Alert! If you check your console for updates this morning, then you will see a ton of backward compatible updates. These include Alan Wake, Oblivion, Fable Anniversary, Fallout 3 & Dragon Age Origins, amongst others.
Noticed a lot of party chat issues these last few weekends. Eventually it settled down, but annoying mid match. Haven't had any installation issues, but I still like how updates do seem to get stuck until I actively ask it to check (all the auto updates are on, but this is something that's plagued me wrom XB1 days)
Wondering if they'll do DLC for extra voice actors like in Halo 5? Nathan Fillion was an excellent choice & made a nice alternative from Jeff Steitzer.
@FraserG absolutely gutted =0( apologies, didn't realise it had been re-worked, must have skimmed over that bit. I trust your guys judgement on this then! Sad times.
Poorly constructed story? I'm sorry, I don't ever remember there being a story in the first place! I don't think it needs to be there as this to me is like a pick up & play title, like something out of the arcade. Monkey Target is considered weak and cumbersome?!!? Are you serious? That was one of my favourites for multiplayer! Such a laugh too!
@GamingFan4Lyf I managed to force it into updating by launching the app thankfully. I played a little bit this last weekend. It was nice to try CTF and strongholds. The Ghost feels weird though... turning in that thing felt like driving a tank. Thinking it must have been a mistake somewhere.
Been invited, but not had the message on Halowaypoint to say it's now live to download. No doubt it will be over night download so I can have a crak at it this weekend.
My only concern is that I have to spend day one of the preview downloading it again, then I miss the incredibly short windows to play it. Nevertheless, they shouldn't rush out something that needs some more time. Must be incredibly stressful to pull everyting together for these deadlines.
@jellytotz Splitscreen is always present due to the nature of the Co-Op system - it can't be disabled as you're supposed to see what the other player is doing so you can work in tandem. I know it might sound odd, but it works very well.
I enjoyed my time with the preview, but I can't help but feel that the matches felt more like a CoD game than Halo. I'm loving the return of the shield regenration sound, the controls & shooting are tight & the new weapons are cool, but I think it does need some tweaking. I've plugged a lot of hours into Halo 5 multiplayer, so it's possible I'm just a little resistant to change. I will miss the likes of the spartan charge & ground pound, but the new abilities like the grapple hook are very welcome. I'm still eagerly awaiting this title for sure. I'm really interested to see what the community give in terms of feedback & what they go on to create in Forge, as some of the best content in Multiplayer often comes from the awesome fans ^_^
I managed to sort it, but the download for the Infiinte preview is less than 300mb - is there another install waiting to happen when you boot up the app?
5 activities for you to try while waiting for the 27GB update to finish... cook tea, eat tea, clear up dishes, watch JoJo & impatiently check download progress
It was stated that the shake up is more to do with the board of Directors at ZeniMax, which included Jerry Bruckheimer. There has also been some restructuring, but certainly not people leaving in their droves due to a change in culture.
@InterceptorAlpha Ah, that's irritiating. Maybe full shutdown of the Xbox and maybe uninstalling the app on the phone and re-registering might clear it? Your guess is as good as mine!
@InterceptorAlpha Apologies if you know the first bit already, but starting from the begining... Using the Xbox app on Android or iOS, you can search for Mass Effect then click on 'Download to Console'. It will then take you to a list of console registered to your account, so for example, it might say 'Series X' as that's the nickname of my console & you click continue. Here's the thing though, after installing the 100mb option I had to delete that based on what someone said on Reddit and try again. It took about 10-15 tries before it would register and actually pre-load - I had to spam press the install option. I've not had any issue with any other game, just this one. I think the install option was borked.
Just to clarify, it didn't look as though there was any option to update it, so deleting & starting again was the only option. Such a weird setup!
After much frustration with the preload option on the Xbox phone app, I finally got it to reinstall beyond the 100mb placeholder to around 21gb. I wish they'd give you the option to pre-load directly from the store on the console for those awiating a physical release. Presumably, there will be a day 1 patch still to add on top of this?
To be honest, we're all yet to experience the proper next gen games, but in the meantime, I'm wokring my way through my backlog (slowly) and enjoying Gamepass. It's a fantastic console with only a few little OS / sound quirks that don't bother me too much. I'm excited for what Xbox have planned over the next few years ^_^
'Former janitor says Boss's Tesla Car's sound system doesn't pack as much punch' I know it sounds mean, but if he was only helping out as a skybox artist and he's no longer employed, I doubt his opinion has that much weight on the final overall product.
@Arcnail Yeh, that's my only reservation, beacuse it basically means you will only get two types of seasons: wet & dry.
Still, there should be a nice contrast between urban & rural areas.
Some of the comments on here be like 'Oh yeh, it's def a Gears of War & Yoshi Island collab 'cause Ninty hasn't released anything good since Rare left them'.
The reality is though, Crackdown's Terry Crews is going to appear in Animal Crossing & Goombas are going to replace Grunts in Halo Infinite.
@StonyKL It's only the Grunts that really have a sense of humour, whereas the Prometheans / Forerunners and other species are far more serious. As much as it would be funny to see some Goombas in the Halo universe, it's highly unlikely there will ever be a crossover. The most we can hope for is Master Chief in Smash.

What a horrible overreaction to Phil basically regurgitating part of Xbox's mission statment, which should always be about quality and consistency.
