Great hardware no doubt. Quick Resume is magical for single player games. BC rules for the games there. But past that point...yeah not much vs other consoles/PC.
5 years in it's starting to age though with zero of it's own generation exclusives. Feels like no other console in history due to this situation. Still enjoy mine but only turn on for the next GamePass game to try. Next summer (when my GPU is up) it will be my legacy games console only.
It's really good some of the Fallout games are getting better versions but not 3 or New Vegas... Old games that need it MORE. It's like they don't even understand which Fallout made the IP so popular on a broader scale also. I get not Fallout 1 or 2, which I hope are getting remade completely in first person but that's exponentially more work.
EDIT: Missed comment @themightyant yep I knew I wasn't the only person that thought his.
Even a person that just buys one Xbox a generation and looks online once a week for game reviews will see these articles and piece that after their massive ABK on GamePass and consoles over and over within 2 years will see that Xbox as a brand struggling. They are unable to sell more of any game or hardware versus all other platforms every single time. Then they see the prices of ROG Xbox Ally | X devices and see $600 for the base unit and realize next gen is gonna be at least $600+ for a console. It's not looking good for the brand just from a marketing, announcement, and data info standpoint for the consumer. No matter how good the experience is right now on their console. Does it suck this is happening? Yes I hate to see a great ecosystem and platform seem like it's fine crumbling after each new official announcement or rumor.
48gb doesn't math on 192-bit bus. It's probably gonna be 36gb at most with the limitations of 3gb GDDR7 chips in 2025. Likely only if 4gb nand exists by then will it be 48gb of ram. I'd have to research if 4gb chips are planned by Samsung or micron even in the next few years.
It need Hall Effects or TMR joysticks otherwise it will be trash like the previous. It's one thing paying $40-$60 on a entry level Xbox controller just because the feel of the controller it's another paying $150-$200 on a controller without premium hardware. If 8bitdo can on controllers in the $50 price range Xbox can for sub $100.
@Simu001 yep I totally get it out of the devs hands and was started/completed since before this was even a thing. I'm thinking Split Fiction/BF6 are my last EA games I play unfortunately.
The tightness of gunplay is better then the added jump/skipping off walls is good and not gameplay breaking. The UI is much better in 7 than 6 but past that who knows. Fine is the best way to describe it, but with all the layoffs especially within Activision what else do we expect really?
@simu001 I would be too if EA wasn't sold out now.
Feedback is: it sucks look at the data and how many people are cancelling. The resell value of the Series consoles is tanking and some stores have clearance pricing them in the USA.
It's basically over, we barely blinked hardware prices went up so did GamePass 2-3 times collectively together within a year. Killed the brand that was already struggling for the people still supporting it past a GamePass sub. Everyone I know hardcore Xbox either sold their console/stopped GamePass, stopped GamePass and will just buy games here or there, or killed their GamePass play what they have in Xbox then buying anything new on PlayStation.
Where is all the old Activision games? WoW sub added into Ultimate? We want quality not Fortnite skins or Assassin's Creed 9-13. Get with the program grandpa. Quality for double the price.
Riding out my pre-paid cheap Ultimate sub end of 2026 in some form (with or without a Series X and) on a PC.
Very unlikely I'll switch to PC GamePass again, $17 is a bit more than I think it's worth and by end of 2026 PC GamePass could be either $25-$30 or loose day one games anyways. Also I want to take note that Ubisoft+ and Fortnite Crew as added "value" is straight up insulting. Ah yes 2 ($25-$30 on sale to keep) AAA games worth of value and some skin to a multiplayer game. LMAO
I'm kind of just soured of the brand even though I liked the controller, the hardware, PlayAnywhere, the dashboard, VRR, Dolby/DTS support, and a decent attempt to keep Series X disc games at the start of the generation. Nice while it lasted.
Well this is effectively as close as you can get to killing the brand before killing it.
I have Ultimate just because a cheap conversion to end of 2026. But after that? I don't even think any version of GamePass, maybe PC but this about seals that I'm done with Xbox consoles after Series X (and not even because disc games on Xbox are about dead).
Nice run for Xbox I guess, but a big wet fart to kill itself even with still existing.
@FrenchVaniIIuxe with Satiya's and Trump's help absolutely but let's not kid ourselves many bad decisions for a few years.
The craziest thing is though how amazing the January show they had going for them but with so many other issues with communication, announcements hardware price changes, firings of employees, and cancelling internal games it feels like nothing positive happened this year for the Xbox brand.
They can really only blame themselves as they have so much money they could literally eat the costs of both of these price increases and kept the consoles at the same prices below PlayStation or Nintendo. But they didn't, it's their choice.
I think the cheaper unit is a better deal overall, and potentially worthy for anyone in the PC ecosystem without a Deck, Ally, or Legion. Otherwise just look away from one of the easiest product launches to omit form memory.
Have a Switch 2 and a Deck so these seem extremely redundant. If we had OLED screen 120hz screen and powerful enough to run 1080p120hz with VRR for about $749 I'd have considered. But the problem is we just aren't there yet for handheld performance/price either.
Easy skip until 3-5 more years when a premium product will be here in a handheld for sub $800.
It sounds like there may not be traditional gameplay mechanics. Either they will appeal to you and something fun or it will end up as brutal to people as Heavy Rain was when it came out. Just a damn chore to play.
Movies Anywhere has always been a great platform that generally works well until you have to re-verify logins due to policy changes every year or so. It would be nice to see it go outside the US for everyone else at some point.
Will it be PlayAnywhere? Or on disc on Xbox? That's the real questions. If it was PlayAnywhere then I'd consider it digital but that's about the only way digital Xbox. Microsoft needs to get it as a standard all games PlayAnywhere until the start of next generation. I'm tired of this half-ass approach.
It looks like more of what Battlefield 4 should have been when they talked about destruction. But still I need to see actual gameplay on console to verify it is like it was just teased.
DICE is really good about not executing what they show in teaser trailers. Actually notoriously bad just like that Killzone 2 trailer at E3 Sony/Guerilla faked two decades ago.
@awp69 he cannot even see if you want it save time gain more profit why would you get rid of people? Those people could have been using AI to create more faster. It's just simply he wants to 'save money' by replacing humans with AI. Whatever his take at this point in this very very early stage of AI there isn't much reason to get rid people of their jobs.
Still doubt it's a playable build on disc without internet. If it is I'll be shocked as I believe it will be the first time for first party since Pentiment in 2022. Microsoft sucks.
@BAMozzy I got over Scalebound due to the situation and it just being one game at a weird time for Xbox brand. Now it's game after game after game along with studio after studio getting axed.
It's basically like they do not know how to manage game studios at this level of investment and tier of involvement of resources and studio counts. Sure they did pretty well during the OG Xbox & 360 generations but they just didn't have a damn clue during Xbox One and even more now so for Series generation. There is basically no way Xbox isn't moving to 3rd party publisher by mid next generation or earlier.
@Nintendo4Sonic just after I held out on GamePass Core only for a year I saw a good boost of games coming for Ultimate to switch for a year. They had a great showing early this year it seemed they were headed in the right track to being solid on releases like PlayStation & Nintendo. Now they just throw away all their good will to appease the Microsoft overlords and shareholders.
Now next July I will not only be not subbing Ultimate but un-subbing and not switching to PC or Core, I'm just over their madness and chaos. My Series X will be a BC machine and 3rd party physical games box moving forward (like there is hardly any releasing on disc anyways today).
Don't even care anymore, most of the good will is gone with Xbox. They ruined everything great they built to make just to advance AI. Which won't make anything new creatively by itself.
Better late than never, but this push is just soooooooooooooo late. It's obvious they are looking to move away from consoles and this is the support for that with a 'bigger push'. The start of this generation should have been the start and forced all games to be PlayAnywhere if Microsoft truly cared they didn't care where we played our Xbox paid for & GamePass games.
@Coletrain it's pretty non-existent in the US also. Last commercial I saw was for Starfield, and last ads on a non focused gaming site was sidebars on YouTube. Maybe they cover some buses and trains in other cities like Seattle, LA, or New York but I haven't seen big posters/murals/ads in person in basically any city since the Xbox 360 era.
Yet I see Nintendo commercials and ads when a big game is launching or when the Switch 2 released. Then about every other month see is some PlayStation commercial online in an ad/webpage or via YouTube
These are primarily based on a third party game or their next console exclusive.
@Ricky-Spanish yeah I did't worry about for years but it has even happened to me during OG Xbox days. I lost my account with all my OG Xbox DLC from Halo 2 after I was put in multiple official matchmaking ranked games that were modded games. The people who hacked their consoles got banned and I got banned for reporting them while using against the EULA language, so they reported me for hacking. It was a total loss for everyone from what I was told and there was no way to prove otherwise back then even re-appealing the claim. But this was during ranked Halo 2 games with paid for Xbox Live without my console being modded like the other people did whom were the hosts.
Yes stranger things have happened to people and yes that is before the Xbox 360 where Microsoft learned a lot from online play and didn't have a great service to record situations online like now.
The point stands we could loose access to our logins/game access in the future if we don't have a way to prove ownership in a way that Microsoft deem acceptable at that time.
@Ricky-Spanish We don't own our closed store Xbox digital games, there isn't a conspiracy here. This basically means you don't read the EULA/fine print when you signed up for your Xbox account nor the changes they send via email on EULA.
If you are fine to not understand what you signed up for that's on you when purchasing digital games. There is no other way to dumb this down more. I'm just trying to help people be aware you can own your games, but it's just a waste of time apparently.
I love Kojima games and had a real difficult time getting into Death Stranding without reading how far I need to play to get past the introduction. Still hard to keep going due to lots of walking, it's fun but it's just sooooo much.
It seems this is a merge of MGS5 and DS1, which does cut down on the slow walking dramatically with a much focus on gunplay, story, and stealth. Not sure if it's worth 10/10 but sounds much more approachable for more people to get into vs. DS1.
@Ricky-Spanish I get it and I "buy" digital games but people need to understand you do not own them, you just purchase access to them that's all. Like a glofied long-term GamePass sub per game and as long as people understand that that's all that matters.
The only exception is gog.com where purchasing the games are yours forever as long as you can login to your account and/or back-up the installers. Unfortunately nothing like this exists on consoles for digital (but maybe gog games will work on the next Xbox console?), just physical console games discs/carts. This is why (some) people still love renting physical games.
"Physical games most likely won't exist next gen except with the switch 2!"
Only because most people gave up owning games for faster game access by purchasing more digital games than physical games. If more physical games were sold I'd disagree, but you are correct that is the trajectory we are heading.
The thing about this is that we have learned much from Microsoft announcements in the past. Anyone can officially say anything before an official announcement by Microsoft/Xbox. Then things are different afterwards, but with the wording here it sounds more definitive Xenia team wanted to attempt to inform the public what has been said is not actually true in the past/present.
Though in the future that's another matter entirely. Likely what Jez was given as far as information this time is just factually untrue.
@Ricky-Spanish Gamefly... It's a HUGE reason I even have consoles and most of them. Renting games saves money overall vs buying strictly digital console games. You are effectively throwing money at the wind for an 'entitlement' if "buying" digital console games is the primary way someone plays games.
Only "buying" PC games at a fraction of the cost of a console digital game is a way to save money when only playing digital games (besides GamePass/PS+ service of course).
No wall running is very unfortunate, Black Ops III is one of the better BO games or really any Call of Duty games. A mix of III and 6 would have a great idea especially being a story after II.
Jetpacks is within it's own sub-universe COD with a 'Advance' and 'Infinite', both good but doesn't fit the rest of the 'Black Ops' games.
@Kaloudz I'm older than that and the more chaos the more control I have in Call of Duty games. 'Boots on the ground' movement doesn't really work for a slightly old/modern/modern future sub-universe of Call of Duty like Black Ops. Again not all COD games have to have the same movement feeling but it's established Black Ops games are of the more chaotic.
They are funding/bringing quality games to GamePass yes, also bringing long overdue games to the Xbox ecosystem, and committed to at least one more Microsoft built console yes fairly good but honestly a bit late conformations on the last two.
Otherwise the Xbox Ally and this Xbox Oculus, no waste of time/resources/marketing.
Zero point of this existing besides a conduit to ..streaming GamePass games. This is gonna be worse than the Xbox Ally doesn't play Xbox console games announcement.
This is only going on an assumption it's coming to Xbox via it's "coming to consoles". It was not outright said, so it could come day 1, like Black Myth Wukong, like FF7 Remake, or frankly never. We will have to get official confirmation.

Re: Xbox Officially Adds Steam Integration Via New PC App Feature
Looking forward to trying this out to see how it behaves vs GoG vs PlayNite.
Re: 'Xenia' Team Issues Statement In Response To Xbox Backwards Compatibility Rumour
Re: 15 New Games Quietly Added To Xbox 'Stream Your Own Game' Library
@Ricky-Spanish Gamefly... It's a HUGE reason I even have consoles and most of them. Renting games saves money overall vs buying strictly digital console games. You are effectively throwing money at the wind for an 'entitlement' if "buying" digital console games is the primary way someone plays games.
Only "buying" PC games at a fraction of the cost of a console digital game is a way to save money when only playing digital games (besides GamePass/PS+ service of course).
Re: 15 New Games Quietly Added To Xbox 'Stream Your Own Game' Library
Played Mindseye on PlayStation and didn't think it was as bad as it reviewed. Decent 12-15 hour linear story, worth a rental.
Re: Call Of Duty: Black Ops 7 Won't Go Super-Duper Futuristic, Confirms Activision
Re: Talking Point: Have This Month's Announcements Made You Excited About Xbox Again?
They are funding/bringing quality games to GamePass yes, also bringing long overdue games to the Xbox ecosystem, and committed to at least one more Microsoft built console yes fairly good but honestly a bit late conformations on the last two.
Otherwise the Xbox Ally and this Xbox Oculus, no waste of time/resources/marketing.
Re: 'Xbox Edition' Meta Quest VR Headset Leaks Ahead Of Rumoured Release Next Week
Zero point of this existing besides a conduit to ..streaming GamePass games. This is gonna be worse than the Xbox Ally doesn't play Xbox console games announcement.
Re: 'Blood Message' Looks Like Assassin's Creed Meets Tomb Raider, And It's Coming To Xbox
This is only going on an assumption it's coming to Xbox via it's "coming to consoles". It was not outright said, so it could come day 1, like Black Myth Wukong, like FF7 Remake, or frankly never. We will have to get official confirmation.
