Earlier today, we heard how Microsoft is reportedly planning to make layoffs throughout the Xbox division at some point next week, and a follow-up report has noted how "some Xbox operations" might be ceasing in Europe as well.
This is coming from The Verge, which says that according to one of their sources, Microsoft is "restructuring Xbox distribution across Central Europe". Here's the exact quote from their report today:
"Microsoft is planning to restructure parts of its Xbox business as it looks ahead to its next generation of consoles. One source tells me Microsoft is restructuring Xbox distribution across central Europe, resulting in some Xbox operations ceasing in some regions."
Just to clarify, Central Europe includes countries such as Switzerland, Czech Republic, Germany, Poland, Croatia and others, and we don't know what "some operations" refers to - it could be small stuff, or it could be something bigger. It could even be as simple as moving parts of the business from one area to another, rather than eliminating them entirely.
It's also worth keeping in mind that it's just "one source" saying this, so who knows if they're on the money or not. Perhaps we'll find out more when these job losses apparently take place next week - we'll keep you updated about it.
