Three Elder Scrolls 6 Developers Share How The Game Is Progressing At Bethesda

How is development going on The Elder Scrolls 6? It's a question we're inevitibly going to hear many times over the next few years, and it's one that Game Informer recently asked three developers at Bethesda.

Specifically, the outlet questioned director and executive producer Todd Howard, studio director Angela Browder and studio design director Emil Pagliarulo about how they're getting on, and all of them predictably remained vague about it.

Howard and Pagliarulo provided the most interesting responses, with Howard enthusing that it's "progressing really well" and the majority of the studio is working on it, but they're also overlapping with other projects as they always do.

Todd Howard: "It’s progressing really well. The majority of the studio’s on VI, but I’ll say this: We always overlap. So, we’re very used to overlapping development. And we have long pre-productions on things so that we feel good about them. And it’s a process. We all wish it went a little bit faster – or a lot faster – but it’s a process that we want to get right."

As you may have seen, Howard recently said something very similar in a separate November interview:

Pagliarulo, meanwhile, stressed how games take a long time to create, pointing to the recent delay of GTA 6 as being "the smartest thing they could do" because of how giant a project it is. As a result, he advised that Bethesda is going to "take our time and as long as it needs to be to be great", again alluding to a pretty lengthy development period.

Emil Pagliarulo: “I can say that it’s going! It’s funny, because the time pressure that players put on us, we don’t put on ourselves."

"...we’re going to take our time and as long as it needs to be to be great."

Finally, Browder highlighted how the game is "gonna be dope" because of how technology has advanced since the previous Elder Scrolls game, pointing to all the "crazy possibilities" for the team at Bethesda. Nevertheless, she remained tight-lipped on the development itself and simply mentioned how "wonderful" it is to be working on TES again.
